Agreed it was wishful thinking lol. If we do go the GS route I wouldn’t mind swapping him for Oubre and or Wiseman.

I wouldn’t mind getting ATL involved as a 3rd team to take on Smart because I do understand our spacing would be bad. I however wouldn’t want Boggy and his massive contract. He’s always injured and can never seem to stay healthy for a full season. I do like Reddish but I would also include Deandre Hunter in the trade and replace him with Boggy. He’s going to be a good 2 way player and is young.

Clearly you think Smart isn’t an upgrade to this roster which is fine. What you fail to realize though is that nobody on this current roster has the heart, hustle, or grittiness that a guy like Marcus Smart would bring to the team. We have a bunch of softies minus MCW but we can all agree he isn’t the answer and Smart is an upgrade over him. I can agree with you the spacing would be terrible but we aren’t trying to win many games this year so this would only help our tanking/draft situation. Next year when we are fully healthy we have a starting 5 that will give teams fits defensively. Then if he doesn’t workout or want to stay here you move him at the deadline. The point is if he’s the best offer we are going to get for AG I wouldn’t get hung up on all the extra you pointed out. Also in no way am I saying I want Smart at all costs but if management is set on trading AG this year and that’s the best option you go with it 10/10 times. I personally would hold on to AG and not make the trade but it looks like he is as good as gone by today.

I don’t think anyone of relevance wants to come here right now if we are being honest. We lack a winning culture and it starts with the guys up top creating such a backwards team philosophy and sticking through it all these years even though the whole league is doing the complete opposite. So while your point is completely valid if we wait around for someone to want to be here we will never get said player.

Not sure why people don’t want Smart here. Sure he isn’t a great 3 point shooter but he’s a hell of a locker room guy, great vocal leader on the court, and an upgrade over MCW hands down who can play the 1 and the 2 and not be a complete liability on both ends of the floor. If we could flip him for Brogdon it would be the icing on the cake but I wouldn’t mind a package centered around Smart at all. Worse case he becomes a valuable trade piece at the next deadline.

Yes agreed! I don’t mind keeping Bamba and letting them compete for playing time.

I’d be fine with that honestly. I think everyone just needs a change of scenery at this point since Clifford is clearly not going to give him any meaningful minutes.

I think they like his energy off the bench and they also like rolling with Theis as their starter. He should definitely be starting and would be a steal for us if we are able to get him away from Boston.

Yes I do remember you mentioning it and would be ok with this return as long as Langford isn’t involved. I really hope it’s a bidding war and we get a good return on a trade for once.

I agree with this here unless we center the package around Smart, Williams III, and a couple firsts for Gordon and Fournier. Other than that I wouldn’t listen to anything else the Celtics were offering as Langford hasn’t been able to crack their rotation and he’s been with them for at least 3 years now and Nesmith doesn’t show he has anything special at the NBA level yet. So no thanks if I’m trading away a future Allstar I’m going to need more in return. I’d listen to all offers and put all teams against each other in a bidding war. Let the best offer win simple enough.

And he’s still under contract with us so it isn’t like we are forced to make a bad trade. Either way it sucks it has come down to this and I hope this gets Weltham fired eventually.

Although I wouldn’t consider Lopez a bruiser or even on the same tier with Gasol I can agree with you that Vuc changed his game a bit more after that embarrassing showing. My problem with Vuc has always been the lack of rim protection he provides and how he lets guys get to the rim without contesting shots. Granted he’s improved a bit the last couple of years in that regard but he still leaves a lot to be desired in the defensive effort department. It’s not that he isn’t capable either because I’ve seen Vuc actually try on defense and it’s a beautiful thing to watch. Maybe it’s a scheme thing or an effort thing or a combination of both but that’s really what’s keeping Vuc from being an elite MVP type of franchise player but I know that’s asking a lot out of him at this point in his career.

To an extent this is Vuc’s problem as well he can’t handle physical defenders which is why he was shut down by Marc Gasol when we played Toronto. We can’t have our 1st and 2nd option have the same weaknesses and expect any other results than what we’ve had these last 7 years. Vuc is the no brainer we need to keep since he’s the Allstar I’m just not sure management is ready to move on from this clearly failed experiment. I’m hoping they prove me wrong though and finally trade Fournier even if it’s just for a bag of chips.
