I agree he seems to have low BBIQ but I think it has to do with what you mentioned of him relying solely on his speed and athleticism. If he focuses on the little things like finding the open man and driving/kicking it out instead of taking those high degree of difficulty layups he would be more effective on the floor. I think he knows this is a make it or break it year for him which is why he is wanting to get as many live game reps as possible to show the coaching staff he should be a part of this rotation due to his work ethic and leadership abilities.

My 2 biggest problems with Bamba are the following. He can’t take advantage of mismatches when a guard switches on to him in the post. He doesn’t post them up and back them down in the paint to either score over them or force a double team. The second problem I have is that he doesn’t contest as many shots as he should at the rim. He seems to take plays off defensively instead of going after every block and rebound especially considering he has such a large wingspan. He leaves a lot to be desired on the defensive end and IMO he lacks the motor and hustle to become a great defensive player.

I’d be ecstatic with either him or Zach Lavine if this is the direction the FO is taking with the salary cap space we currently have.

Fultz should be starting and I don’t see why he won’t be come opening night. The team just looks that much better with him running the point. That pick and roll with Fultz and Paolo is going to be pretty unstoppable.

Agree with this 100%. It’s been non stop articles on Sharpe and why the Magic need to draft him without contributing much else. Now challenging CT to make a bet where if whoever loses they need to leave the forum? It actually is because not everyone can put on weight or muscle if they have narrow shoulders like Chet and such a scrawny frame no matter how hard they work in the gym or the type of diet he gets put on especially in only 3 months. How long did it take Bamba to put on any kind of muscle? He still gets pushed around on the block, can’t back down smaller opponents when they switch on him, and he consistently gets boxed out. Obviously they are all projects but Jabari’s shot is already NBA ready and that’s what we have been looking for since the Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and JJ Reddick days. Add in the fact he can play good defense on the perimeter as well as block shots at the rim. Picking Jabari is a no brainer if we are looking for a guy who can flat out get buckets. Adding Chet would be redundant and a disappointment if we chose him first overall and it would be another wasted lottery pick.

With the lack of weight he was pushing in that video I highly doubt that. I thought we already learned our lesson drafting lanky guys with a big wingspan. How did Bamba workout for us? This guy is going to be a project and that’s the last thing we need from the number 1 pick. Give me Jabari’s elite shooting any day of the week. We have severely lacked scoring and a three point threat for many years and when one falls into our lap we shouldn’t over think it. Just picture Fultz getting to the rim at will next year and dishing it to a wide open Jabari for 3.

Well said I feel the same way and I’m sure others on here do as well.

Not sure where you got young stars from my post pretty sure I said promising young players. Franz showed enough flashes of great playmaking ability on both ends of the floor to give us hope he’s going to turn into one the longer he is in the league. Not sure how you can count Suggs out when he’s still so young and has only played 1 season. Carter continues to develop his 3 point shot/inside game and was playing out of position most of the year when he’s clearly a 5 and not a 4. Chuma’s game regressed due to the lack of a legitimate point guard and him having to do things he normally wouldn’t have to on offense like creating his own shot off the dribble he’s more of a slasher, spot up 3 point, defensive minded player. To say we don’t have talent is ridiculous and not taking into account the amount of injuries we had and saying it didn’t affect our record this year is just as silly.

You fail to factor in all the injuries we had this year. We have a healthy roster and we wouldn’t be the worse team in the league simple as that. I do agree we have been mismanaged but we have plenty of young promising talent to be excited about. I think we can make the play in tournament next year if everyone stays healthy.

I agree having Fultz healthy and playing starters minutes will change this team drastically. It was evident we played much better with him on the court and he made everyone around him better. Also add in the fact our rookies will have the off-season to improve and I can see us winning 30+ games next season. We are going to be much better than this year contrary to what JJZFL believes. He’s the most negative fan I have ever encountered lol.

I can see why the coaching staff likes RJ. He’s lightning quick, very aggressive and surprisingly strong when driving to the basket, and he hustles on both sides of the floor. Sure his shot isn’t dropping consistently but with more in game reps I think this can be corrected. Doesn’t help he shares the backcourt with Cole who only gives up the ball after he’s run around the perimeter with more than half the shot clock gone and then gives it to other guys who need to take last second contested shots.

Yeah Coles game right now is not conducive to playing winning team basketball. Once Fultz is off his minutes restriction I fully expect him to replace Cole in the starting lineup. Between T-Ross and Cole there’s a lot left to be desired on both sides of the floor.

I can agree with you but I’d rather develop Suggs with a competent PG because he has shown flashes of great defense and hustle and his effort is just contagious on both sides of the floor. Anthony has a lot to work on to become a player who makes his teammates better on offense and defense where Suggs is already doing that. Once Jalen becomes consistent with his jumper he is going to be lethal.

I prefer the Fultz/Suggs backcourt because they both like to get their other teammates involved where as Anthony is looking for his shot first which I think would better suit the 2nd unit. Also that duo defensively is much better and they would be able to switch without creating a mismatch for the other team to take advantage of.

Fultz doing what he does best playing great team basketball and keeping the ball moving. Once he gets off his minutes restriction he needs to be starting for us and Anthony needs to go to the bench. Fultz balances our roster out and let’s Anthony be that offensive spark for the 2nd unit.

I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing how it works because in theory you’re right it would be hard for the opposing defense to contain since they can’t double team both of them at the same time. I’m just worried we are stunting the development of our younger guys playing Ross the valuable minutes other players could get. I wouldn’t be against signing Gary Harris to a reasonable team friendly deal seeing as he has found his rhythm and is playing pretty well for us. We need to trade Ross before the deadline and get at least a 2nd round pick for him.
