2020-2021 Official Magic Season Thread

I like the first trade. As far as the second trade I am not giving up future first round picks for a player like Middleton. -
Yes please!
-
The next 20 games are brutal. But it's about the next 10 before the trade deadline where I hope management is forced to make the right decisions.
-
Last 30 years 4 guys drafted out of the top 5 were the best players on their team to win the title. Steph, Kobe, Dirk, Kawhi. Kobe was an anomaly because of high school to the pros.
-
What is your point? This is not an exact science? of course not that is obvious. But for a franchise with little hope right now we need a little. So all draft intel right now is saying there is a clear top 5 so why not be in there.
-
I would just for once love for the announcers to just acknowledge the disparity in talent. I used to like David Steele, and Jeff Turner is a really nice and good guy, but they are really corny.
-
There is no way I am giving up next years number one in the Chet Holmgren draft.
-
Hopefully KAT is coming back to Minnesota soon so hopefully they can get some wins.

It's time to look at this team for what it is and has been. I submit the 2018-19 team that went 42-40 is an aberration. That team with tremendous health finished 22-9 to get to that record. Outside of that 31 game stretch this team is more who it was before that stretch and who it has been after. 33-40 last year and 8-13 this year. This team never really arrived anywhere or had a new expectation of their overall standing in the league. This team over the past two years has made it's living beating the bottom feeders for the most part because of better coaching and better effort. Not because it was so much more talented then those teams. -

How in the hell do we have the 7th highest payroll with no max contracts and no stars and a ****ty team? Makes no sense. -

I agree with you 100%. But unfortunately this team and franchise has no direction, plan, or goals past being a habitual 8th seed.
-
He was very active and looked good. Still has a ways to go setting screens and other things but even as Jeff Turner said on the broadcast "He just needs to play". He is not going to get better sitting on the bench.

2-10 in the last 12. This team is horrible and I honestly hope it continues so necessary changes are made.

So I was just looking at this. Back in 2012 the nets went all in on the big three and it failed... They gave up a whole lot of capital to the Celtics. Fast forward 2019 they land Kevin Durant and Kyrie. Now 2021they get James Harden and sell the farm.. My point is they are aggressive and make moves. During the same time frame we have done absolutely nothing that matters! -

I might have been the only person on here who 100% agreed with you this whole time. The Magic for years now have been reactive not proactive. -

I really hope we change directions. As far as Shaq goes he brings instant relevancy to this franchise and let's be honest we are one of the most irrelevant teams in the league. -

A lot of other posters on here are like payton4thwin cult members. They bow to him for some strange reason. That is why I think Shaq needs to take over and own this franchise! Everything he has done has been successful in bball, life, and especially business. I have met him multiple times and he is the nicest guy. -

Thank you friend. I agree with you what actually do we have. Yes vooch is playing great. But what is he as a second or third option when he is not able to jack up 20+ shots? He is great being the best player on a below average team. I say sell high on him right now. I feel this franchise is so afraid of being bad again they won't take chances on the future. Well here is the reality the rest of the east is coming and I am betting we will not make the playoffs this year. So like you said clean house. I would start with Alex Martins, Jeff Weltman and Hammond. Hire Shaq as president of bball operations with an agreement to eventually sell him the team. -

But if you really don't have the internal high end talent what does that mean? If we had good cap management that would be one thing. So are they betting on hitting on a 12 to 17 pick in the next 10 years? That is my frustration that there is no plan. I know it is Alex Martins fault. I had a couple cocktails with Bob Vander Wiede a couple years ago and he clued me in. -

This front office does nothing. What is the plan? We have no draft capital, high pay roll meaning no cap space, no really good assets anyone wants in trades. Again what is the plan? -

It's time for a reckoning as Magic fans. It is painfully obvious this franchise is no longer in the championship business. They are in the mediocrity at best business. I feel like I am the only Magic fan that cares enough to hold this franchise to a higher standard. This play it safe strategy sucks! Let's be bold and blue again and take chances. I can get behind a franchise who is going for it. I can not get behind habitual 8th seed treadmill teams. I have been a die hard fan since I moved here in 89 and never wavered in my fandom. But now I am questioning why I should care when the franchise does not!!! -
