Tweaked Murphy's trade a bit. Ok this would never happen but hear me out.

First we get the Nets pick and keep our own. This trade wouldn't happen on the Magic side because we literally give up all our best players and Henny would be signing his walk papers. However getting 2 picks in a loaded draft in the top 5 is gold. We keep the one young player most agree has the star potential, A.Gordon. We get two young players most of us thought the Magic were looking at when they were drafted. Smart and Brown. The Magic essentially complete a second rebuild in one year.

Why the Celtics do it. First of all look at the added wins! I know the trade machine is basic analytics but i happen to think all three players fit better on the Celtics because of Thomas and Horford. Secondly this actually improves the Celtics cap space to pursue Gordon Hayward and another roleplayer this summer. Third, with the youth of today's draft picks they know Brown and their top pick this year can't help them win soon. Nobody is trading them a Griffin or Cousins. They aren't getting a Jokic or Gobert either. The names aren't important, you know what i mean.

With this trade the Celtics get to create a very good team with maybe the best bench in the league. We get to hit the reset button.

Seriously this trade looks bad from both sides, but i believe it would greatly help both teams!

With the Nets pick involved as well, either outright or with the right to swap.

The more i think about it this is the best one i have seen all month. The Celtics can see how Ibaka fits, if he doesn't they can let him walk. Vucevic is on a killer contract and i actually think he fits better on the Celtics. They also get our pick in a draft full of wings.

From our side getting the possible number one pic is huge, plus getting a young SF, obviously. The secret good thing about this trade is it gives us more time to decide who fits on our team. We all know the team in in win now panic mode. If this trade went down i think management could sell a small rebuild. Going into next year if we actually get the number one pick it would be an easy sell to keep on building with youth.

Thing is most won't think the Celts would trade the pick, and i agree a little. I feel like they won't keep the pick but would be willing to wait til the draft to try one more time to nab a superstar. The trick is convincing them over the next month that the Raptors and Cavaliers are vulnerable. It's happening, all three are losing right now.

I think this trade would go down in a heartbeat without the lottery picks involved. Question is do we do it?

Is Jaylen worth giving up Ibaka for? Front office couldn't sell that, even if the Celts threw in a few of their late round picks.

There is one big reason for them to do this trade i think. I think its a well known secret the Celtics want to sign Gordon Hayward this coming summer. If this is the case they don't need brown as they have Crowder signed cheap for 3 more years. They have the cap space and this trade greatly improves them without sacrificing that. The second thing is it gives them another star they can sign using bird rights. AFTER they sign Gordon. This is huge and gets them to contender status.

I can see them doing this maybe with a pic swap. It's exactly what we need and almost exactly what they need. No way we get to keep our pick and the Net's pick.

However it's a major upgrade for them and they just give up potential in Jaylen, he hasn't shown anything yet.

Again i see this is as a legit trade because nobody has even been rumored to be giving up a legit star to the Celtics. With a swap, they still get top pick in a loaded draft and really don't need a PG so it's a fair swap.

  4. Trade him before the deadline. He's leaving. There is no "what if"

This right here. Lets say we haven't looked like a total **** show all year and were much better on defense like we thought we might be. If we were the 7th or 8th seed right now we would have to try anything to keep him. There is no doubt that we are one of the 5 worst teams in the league so we can't build around Ibaka. I'm not trying to be negative, it is what it is.

  5. Man, just looked back at how old Goggles was when we signed him. 29. Thought he was a little younger.

If we just had THAT guy and better vets I'd feel better about our win now mentality.

Yeah it's a tough situation. Last year was a disaster and in hindsight we should have known Skiles was bad with young players. We all agree the Tobias trade was probably forced, but we did need a point guard and shooter. The choice of players and the timing is what was bad, none of us really miss Tobias it's what we got back.

This offseason destroyed our franchise for years. The trade was bad, the money we spent was bad and we all knew it! The press knew it and the people on this board knew it, we just talked ourselves into believing something that wasn't going to happen. I was so happy when they Drafted Sabonis and then i heard about the trade. Combined with the Biyombo signing and the money we spent on Fournier the press already knew it was a disaster.

Quite frankly we spent all that time acquiring assets only to use each and every one the wrong way. Now it's fun to talk about who was at fault but i'll save that for after they get fired. Right now is the time to start fixing things. We need to trade Ibaka and maybe some other players. Bad trades got us in this mess but now we have no choice.

I think the chance Ibaka stays is almost zero and the draft this year is the deepest in years.

I don't think the team has the balls for it, i sense they will try anything to make trades for veterans and keep Ibaka. Everything would be different if we had gotten a good free agent or sleeper the last few drafts(like Booker). We missed on Millsap and Harrison Barnes. Our lesser trades with Frye and Tobias brought us nothing. We gave away Dipo and a draft pick so we could keep Vucevic!!!! Lets face it, thats the main reason for needing a player like Ibaka!!!!

None of it worked so it's time to start again, but do we have the stomach for it?

  6. How about this?

Edited didn't think this would work!!!!!

    This trade: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=hx8t6sv

Another crazy trade but hear me out.

Raptors is obvious, they need Ibaka and have to take Green to make the trade work. I would rather have Ross but i'm just assuming we can't get him.

Philly assumes they are gonna lose Noel and adds a decent PF they can resign and Mario hoping he becomes the SG of the future. I am betting they would want Payton but they also know this draft is loaded with PG's.

The Magic just get a reset. I'm hoping it's easier resigning Noel. Then with Carroll playing more like he did 2 years ago and removing some chemistry problems, we actually play defense. We still have scoring problems but think we have more flexibility going into the draft this year.

Again, i would rather have Ross and trade Biyombo. Not sure if Toronto would do that but he was really good for them.

  7. The most obvious trade is Jeff Green and our 2018 first round pick for Dragic. I'm not a huge of Dragic or his contract, but I think it makes a ton of sense for both teams, especially if the Magic are desperate for a playoff run.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=j3wvrj4

If Orlando did this as our panic trade i wouldn't be opposed to it. It would take an unprotected pic probably this years pick.

Remember in today's NBA cap space is important in rebuilding, but not everything. I would imagine Riley would want this years pick, or next years plus Mario.

  8. We are not going to make the playoffs, we are not better then all those teams. They are flawed but it looks like a few are turning the corner.

We really have to play this season out, but we can't since we made a significant investment in Ibaka. In order for Rob to save his job he will have to bring in veterans to make a playoff push. Ibaka is gone if we don't make the playoffs and Rob will lose his job. The funny thing is with Ibaka's and Green's cap space we will probably sign Milsap. I am pretty sure Rob is counting on this as a back-up plan in case Serge doesn't come back.

  9. I think we should call the Celtics and give them basically anything they wanted for the Brooklyn pick.

This is my favorite move. The only untouchable player on this roster should be Gordon. Not saying he will turn out to be a star, but he looks like the only homegrown player that could be a star someday. Everyone else is expendable, but no more kneejerk reactions to save the season. The Tobias trade was made to save the season and that is why it was a disaster. Sadly i think we will make a trade similar to last year, only this year it will be made to salvage the season and give Ibaka a reason to stay.

  10. vucevic is averaging 3.3 ppg on 16/0/__ shooting over the past 3 games. he's on a 5/32 shooting streak. over the last 6 games he's 2/6 on freethrows after going 9/17 in the first 5 games.

He is the main reason why this happened. He should have been traded the offseason before 2015, while his value had peaked. I feel like Tobias was traded in large part because he wasn't a good fit with Vuc. That and Skiles needed to win last year and was hellbent on getting veterans.

  11. Gordon doesn't have the offensive awareness or repertoire to be Paul George and it's not something you can just become.

He's an 4 and I believe it's only an matter of time before Vogel switches him back there.

And this is the problem that was created when we traded Tobias. I still think we traded Tobias because we knew Gordon, Tobias and Vucevic could never be our frontcourt of the future. This is not hindsight but i knew at the time we really needed to trade Vucevic, it would have been hard to sell, but we needed to do it.

With Skiles as coach and management wanting wins there was no way we could trade our leading scorer. I think we all know now that it was a mistake, not because Tobias is such a good player(he is pretty good) but because we need pieces that fit together and management keeps making the wrong choices.

I prefer our team with a defensive minded center, everybody seems to like Biyombo. I had hopes we could get a free agent SF but after this summer i realize we struck out and should have kept the cheaper alternative.
