    2018-19 Official Season Discussion Thread

I would hope the Lakers are in panic mode by December and we can somehow get Ball. I wanted to trade for Rozier two years ago before he broke out, now he will cost too much. Ball still has huge upside and is still a few years away from getting paid. Ball can develop a shot, there are so many examples of players that do. He already has all the other intangibles, the only thing i’m worried about is health. The real reason i’m high on on this trade is its very possible. The Lakers this year have a bunch of ball handlers, they could easily live without Ball this year. Next year they will have many options in free agency and i think the most likely fit is Kemba Walker. Also, right now the Lakers could really use the services of Vucevic. Never in the last few years has a team really needed a player like him at the same time he was playing extremely well. Checked the trade machine, trade fits perfectly with Zubac added to Lonzo. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y94kebv2 The big reason for the Lakers to do this, it fits the objective. Vuc will fit in perfectly and allows even more money to come off the books in the summer. Throw in a pick and it gives them ammo to sign one Mega free agent and do a sign and trade for another. And if he plays well he can be resigned after free agency using bird rights to a slightly larger contract that he would command on the market. Lastly both Josh Hart and Kuzma were drafted at the same time and the Lakers might value them more(hopefully). It would be hard to resign all 3 in a few years at the same time.

Mario is the same and has the same upside as Harkless, much less in my book. He can possibly be ok surrounded with the right players and system. If you want to feel a little self pity, watch Elfrid this year. He is in the perfect place to actually do something if he has any NBA level talent.

I'm all in on a Kemba trade, tired of losing. I like Batum, the money sucks but he is almost like a point foward. Having 2 ball handlers is important and might finally unleash Gordon. It's a huge gamble, but worth it. Honestly after this trade If Bamba simply becomes the player we think he is and Isaac blossoms we could be very dangerous a few years from now.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yahs8k7p Without clicking the link, this is a straight up trade with the Nets. Vuch and Fournier for Lin and Carrol. Lin has to have his option picked up for this to work. Reasons why the Magic do this, we need a Pg and a culture reset. All of Henny's boys have to go starting with these two. Lin can be a bridge and Carrol coming with him can kick-start heart and hustle magic, 2.0. Reasons why the Nets do this, they have too many point guards. The other reason is once they waive Dwight, they will need another center, Okafor is useless. They have made some savy moves to get some young talent, but i think they need a few veterans and both our players fit better on the Nets. What do you think, outside of some wacky trades for some stars this seems reasonable.

I will be happy with this outcome if we make a few moves either before the season or during the season. Dj can hold down the PG role this year but we have to move on from Vuch and Fournier at SOME POINT!!!

Jesus people can't read. Since our very own Dwight Howard, traditional big men have had a hard time even getting their teams to the playoffs. Please dispute this statement.

Davis is the poster child, i personally think he was the surest draft pick since Lebron. What has he achieved in NO? In his defense since he came into the league he has had bad management plus horrible luck. When i watch the playoffs i see two things. Blowout games because everyone is throwing up too many 3's and bad transition defense. This can change, i cannot believe that the Celtics kept chucking 3's in game 7, they were scoring at will inside 10 feet. Some coach with the right team will bring back inside play.

Really starting to think he is not there at number 6. It's been too many years in this new era. I cannot believe so m any teams are going to draft centers. They haven't been relevant for almost a decade.

It's funny i think they would love to move down that's obvious. However i think they might want to move farther down then people think. Like in to the teens, maybe get Miles Bridges and a piece they could use now,.

No trade posts? I want us to trade with Memphis. Take on that horrible Parsons contract and give them a few good players if they send back pick #4. My idea. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y9o88qgo This plus the 4th pick in the draft.

    2017-2018 Official Season Discussion Thread

All i have to say is it's staggering how badly Hennigan managed our assets. He was a good evaluator of talent but a really bad GM. I think most people on this board saw Vucevic, Tobias and Fournier as great pieces that would be moved for the future. Never in my dreams did i imagine 2 of those guys would still be here. I even forgive him for screwing up the Tobias trade, it happens sometimes. The whole mess goes back to that Philly trade for Payton. He got screwed in that trade but bet his whole process on it. From that point on he just kept doubling down on his own mistake. Having Elfrid on the team led to almost every bad decision he made starting with the Harris trade. Obviously this guy wanted his system to work with his players and tried to force it on Skiles. A good GM makes a mistake and then has the flexibility and guts to make a change. Look at Presti, he keeps making mistakes but then switches up and tries something else. Same with Morey in Houston. Both are perfect examples of what Henny wouldn't do, because both general managers had a former Magic player. And so our former players are involved in some of the biggest trades the last two seasons. And our highest picked player since Dwight is on Sportcenter every night, playing for another team. I feel like Henny was an evil agent who infiltrated our organization just to destroy us.

Remember after the allstar break last year when teams really started to tank, we haven't seen anything yet. I agree we will probably win more in the second half, but we are still a very bad team.

Fun quote, but they are not giving up monk. Also Victor killing it again tonight in a win. Instead of doing the hindsight thing, gonna say what we all said a few years ago. Beware Gm's about to lose their jobs, they make stupid moves. I remember alot of posts saying this before the Oladipo trade and Bismack signing.

Important things you got right.... If we draft a point guard we need a bridge. I think not having a healthy, decent back-up right after we drafted Elfrid caused most of our problems. Just because we screwed up and let go of Harris and Oladipo too early doesn't mean we need to keep Elfrid.

Yup, the rebuild went about as bad as possible. Just missed out on the right lottery picks. Acquire mediocre talent and overpay for it. Trade away the best assets while getting nothing in return. The cherry on top was getting Ross and Toronto's second pick instead of the lower pick, which turned into OG Anunoby. Seriously, i can pick 5 people on this board who could have done a better job then Henny. The worst part of last year was playing good enough towards the end to move from the 3rd worst record to the 6th. I'm pretty sure everyone on this board wanted Tatum. The whole 5 years the only players i predicted the Magic would take before the draft who they actually drafted were Gordon and Sabonis. We just had to use overtime to beat the Hawks. THE HAWKS! The only thing we can do this year is try to keep healthy and pray we somehow dump one of our bad players.

Seriously guys? It's the eye test, just like Vuch. We have known for years about Vuch. He provides scoring on a team that needs it, he has some good advanced stats as well. But he does not contribute to winning, never has.He is a bad team stat guy, we always knew it! Same could be said with Elfrid. And most have said this for years, really since the beginning. Just to use some examples from other discarded players. With Oladipo posters mentioned his shot, his ability to draw fouls and some boneheaded plays. However most agreed he might outgrow it or improve. Same thing with Harris. Some disliked that he was really a combo forward, no true position.Others worried that he could't co-exist with Gordon or play defense as a 4. In both cases i don't remember anyone mentioning lack of hustle or heart. With Vuch and Elfrid i have been hearing the same things about them FOR YEARS!!!!!!! This makes me wonder if Gm's actually see a different game then we do.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y97ugouj We have to trade with the Clippers now that Blake might miss most of the season. The trade above looks bad but hear me out. If Doc falls out of favor in the next month and people blame his son for the Griffin injury, it might be time for a shake-up. The Clippers just invested major money in PF and SF(Griffin and Galinari). They might want to fire Doc and secure their investment. Most of the other players including Jordan,Rivers,Johnson and Milos are player options after this season. Honestly they might jump at our players given the history of our players doing better elsewhere, even Biyombo. Why we do it, simply to get out of our biggest contracts and try another direction. Here is a much simpler trade that i think is better for us and gets rid of the player i hate. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ybfrpyae Again this one is easy to explain for us, we flat out would be better. Both these players could leave at the end of the year. On the other side they get two players with great P.E.R that will be signed for a few more years. First trade i would like more for our future. Second trade would be fun this year!

It's funny how this board knew this 3 years ago. Amazing how management keeps trading everyone except Vucevic and Payton. My god do they even watch the games? Anyhow i can see LA trading with us for a package around Vooch. Jordan has a player option next year, in fact 4 players on the Clippers have player options. They could shed alot of salary quickly. I would assume they would want the second player on an expiring contract.
