    2022-2023 Draft Thread

Well, they had Paolo number one forever last year and never wavered. Miller being mocked number 2 is not a big deal at all. 6 foot 8 wings who can score and take over games is the proto type player these days. Also with how our defense is looking we might have to take a guy like Walker, even though that seems redundant. Guys that scare me are the Twins for obvious reasons but more like the Keyonte George types. KG seems like exactly what we need but also seems like the guy who gets to the NBA and might do nothing against NBA level players and is a bad shooter. He would be the opposite of Gradey Dick, who shoots great right now but might get to the NBA and be Duncan Robinson at best. It's hard to evaluate these guys. I'm ready for the tournament. Edit. Part of my analysis is just expectation. I am leaning towards Wallace with one of our picks simply because the Kentucky guards always seem to be pretty good. Less bust potential. I have no other facts, just a feeling. LOL, good thing i'm not a scout.

    2022-2023 Draft Thread

Every year, in every draft the guys who are mocked at the top are not necessarily the actual top NBA players. Luckily we have great posters who watch these guys play! So my only hope is we take the correct guy. I don't care where we draft. I'm am tired of the concept that if we draft 1st we have to take Victor or second Scoot, although yes right now i'm leaning towards those picks. But that is only an example. What if we draft 5th,6th or 7th? Do we have to take a guy that's top 8 in some meaningless mock? What if we miss out on a Donavan MItchell,Booker,Haliburton type player because some Mock draft had them later? You want to get even more perplexed, what if we miss out on a Giannis or Jokic? My point is don't let the media control the narrative. We have only to look at last year as an example. The Magic took Paolo! Before the college season started he was probably maybe the consensus number 1 along with a few others, after the season, hype took over with Chet and Smith jr. The media also wanted the Magic to Draft Smith because of "shooting". It was like a rock rolling downhill until everyone thought we were taking Smith including our forum. Guess what, we didn't, and i'd bet all my money he will never approach best player in this draft. So don't let what they tell you be the end all of everything. I am constantly surprised how good the posters on this forum are at seeing talent. So if you guys love Dick or Wallace or Jett Howard i have no problem with the Magic taking them, even if they are mocked late lotto.

    Need admin help

Hello sorry to make this an actual post. Orlando pinstripe posts, a fan site under SBNATION for Magic fans is probably closing down. It's this site. https://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/?_gl=1*121b366* Anyway, Vox media made a huge announcement a few weeks ago where they stopped paying most writers for the smaller websites. Many good posters over at OPP would love to migrate to this forum. I am just posting hoping the admins would help transition them over here. I have no idea how often people approve the recent sign ups but i know it took forever when i tried years ago. Please keep an eye out for new accounts. Thank you!

Yeah i watched the presser on another sight, he just flat out said certain refs change the game and named the guy who hates him. LOL was great stuff. He was fined 30 thousand.

    2022-2023 Season Thread

I never post anymore because the season is winding down. I am hoping for a few more spoiler wins and a couple big games from Paolo and Fultz! I just saw that Bamba went down with an injury. Probably done for the season if he still has some "magic" in him. Lakers can't catch a break and i'm all in for it! Durant went down as well. Seriously what is wrong with the current NBA? Everyone is always hurt and it is more then 20 years ago. I started to think it wasn't the injuries it was the coverage, we just hear more about them now. However it's not true at all. Way more season ending and multiple month injuries then when i was growing up.

Magic vs Jazz - Thurs., Mar. 9th @ 7 pm

We have some offensive pieces and that is enough this year. It will take coaching and hard work to be a better team. I would have loved more wins in the end but this is what the magic are right now. It's like 4 very young guys and a few vets who always get hurt or are just role players. They will grow up. To have made the play in we would have had to have better interior defense and some out of this world offensive performances but our guys are not there yet. They can get there.

Magic at Bucks - Weds., Mar. 1st @ 8:00 PM

Yeah it's gonna take coaching and reimagining the roster. Gianiss is a legitimate dominate inside threat who works on his game every year and can shoot free throws and 3 point shots when he has too. Meanwhile they have methodically surrounded him with guys who can play defense and shoot. Guards, bigs, wingmen. It's changed every year but they have kept the formula. All the guys have to shoot at some level. The Magic will do the same thing.

Cole at best is just Jameer. Fire him into the sun. I have no loyalty to him or Harris with his 3 point %. Get a drop dead shooter at the 2 or a guy who is so good at breaking the defense down you leave everyone else open. Our guys will respond. This summer it's on.

Great win. Jameer Nelsons greatest move was taking it inside and back outside because he could not finish. He was the main reason we didn't win a chip with Dwight. Yeah he kicked it out and had some players hit a 3 sometimes. You could do that. The magic were way ahead of the league at that point. Good win. Paolo took over and we had defense.

Isaac might as well be Ben Simmons right now. Thankfully being paid half as much for less years. Yeah gloves are off. it's time. Better show something tonight. Pelicans are the western conference team to show where we are.

I'm with you because i remember when it was summer camp after free agency and it was obvious they were gonna go with the status quo. Now living in reality i am happy they made the right decision with Paolo. However keeping oft injured guys like Chuma,Fultz,Harris and of course Bamba who we traded for nothing means another year of not making the playoffs. Our we on track? Sure, did we make strides? Sure. Team is frustratingly mediocre still! Fultz looking amazing yeah but it sure took long enough. Meanwhile Bamba,Chuma and soon Cole if he doesn't end the year on a roll are busts. I mean he better light it up because we have to pay the guy or face real distractions next year. He should be winning some games with his shooting. Remember the that 3 pointer last year? Either get some real roleplayers or hold the ones we have to a standard. How did Gary do this week? Yeah he has the highest 3% on the team, has he ever taken over a game? Pistons almost beat us because they shot better. Ross stuck around for years because he maybe could shoot but couldn't do anything else except when Clifford was here. Playtime is over. Put up or shut up Magic.

    2022-2023 Draft Thread

Yeah i'm not an internet warrior. I think it's despicable if he really stupidly brought his friend a gun to kill somebody. What i am saying is we will probably never fully understand what happened and if we do i will change my mind. This is how the business of sports happens. If the guy is really good and never gets charged for a crime he will be in the NBA and be really good. No opinion will change that. Yet i respect your opinion and yes i think high character is a thing. If you don't want players on your favorite team that have question marks, especially something as horrendous as this i get it. I just stand on what i said in that i watch the game, he could easily be the best player in this draft. I have watched the college and NBA game forever. There is no guarantee that Victor and Scoot will be the best of this class. Victor is a complete one of a kind player. He is not even Chet from last year, everyone knows this. Scoot has serious skills and if you put me to it, yeah he probably balls out. Miller is a wing with take over the game kind of skill. He is not a guard like scoot or center who is probably not a center like Victor. If Miller was not involved in this scandal, if i had to put money on who becomes the best player i would bet that money on Miller. I'm just talking hypotheticals.

Obviously the front office is just lucky. They have no skill, no clue. I can't wait to hear the afternoon guys on local radio rip them. I used to say the Magic are the east coast Kings. They are except the Kings will be in the playoffs this year, we won't. Do they watch basketball? All they need to do is get a coach to play Paolo on the block and get a few shooters while Franz and Fultz break the defense down. That's it.

You know what? MCW, really? I am moving to Denver soon after over 25 years here in Orlando. Screw this team, time to root for the Nuggets. I liked that he balled hard for us a couple years but talking yourselves into MCW is like how we all "talked" ourselves into Biyombo. It made no sense at all but we are fans.

They won't extend Cole. Why would they? Make him play for it, if he balls out they can match whatever he is offered.

Look i like the direction of our team but they have missed he boat on a ton of players for years. MCW? Maybe we could have picked up Monk in the offseason? A forum favorite for years and he just scored 45 to help the Kings win and hopefully break longest playoff draught in North American sports history. I mention Monk because recency bias but how about Alec Burks who torched us a game ago? He has been shooting over 40% for years? How about Seth Curry, why did we not get Luke Kennard? I am mentioning low hanging fruit here. I'm not talking about the Kevin Durants or the Donavan Mitchells. We know this team would be better with a superstar, but how come we can't even get the cheap specialists? No bruiser in the middle maybe an enforcer like Brook Lopez? Why no 3 point specialist like Bogdanovic? I am just looking at yesterdays box scores throwing out names that the Magic could easily have. Tired of players mentioned on this forum, probably by a bunch of guys who watch much...MUCH more basketball then the people who run the team. MCW? Really? Quick edit because i like memes. I mentioned Brook Lopez. It's like the Magic are the mom meme. Hey mom why can't we have Brook Lopez? Mom.....we have Brook Lopez at home.....Robin Lopez.

This is the NBA, if our picks moves up he would easily be in contention for our pick. Heck if we get number 1 he might be the pick. Mark it down now but i do not want Victor. If we did the impossible again like we did in the 90's trade that pick for the biggest haul in the history of sports. Guys with that build never last. It would be either Scoot or Miller for me at number 1 or trade down.

The Magic are going in the right direction. We did not have any real talent before and made some questionable moves for ten years. Not having a real point guard for a decade, the stupid trades etc..... Now we have talent, you can't deny that. Management killed it with the tear down trade and making the correct picks the last two years. However, it's the moves between the margins that are crucial from this point onwards. Yes we lost last night because shots didn't go down. It happens. I think we are just one or two small moves away from establishing a team. They set the table for this summer, now let's see how we finish this year. Stay positive.

I have been staying away because it was always going to be up and down. Get Paolo some focus and secure his ROTY. Anything else, whatever. That is my take. Coaching matters. Nuff said.

There is no mid to upper lotto guy's on my list like last year. Both Murray and Mathurin were firmly in my must draft slots if our pick fell back. Others wanted Sharpe or Ivey. I actually liked Duren or AJ Griffin as later lotto guys. Also a big fan of taking a chance like OKC did and drafting the fast riser that was Jalen Williams. We need guys that can come in with some kind of established talent, even though they are 19-21 years old. Now this year i do not know the players....yet. I will be watching the tournament. I have watched a few videos on Victor and Scoot and of course i saw Brandon Miller highlights even before the controversy. I can't tell anything about the Thompson twins watching videos, you guys will have to tell me more. I guess outside Brandon my must draft college players for the Magic are Keyante George and Carson Wallace. Full disclosure i picked Wallace simply because he is a Kentucky Guard who is under the radar and they always turn out decent.

Quick shout out for Aaron Gordon. He is on this list along with our boy Franz Wagner. Aaron finally became what he was always meant to be on a good team. Shawn Marion. I gave AG a ton of **** while he was here but he was done dirty by never having a playmaker to set him up. I knew that shot looked good. Now about the Magic, it's obvious we will have two All-Stars very soon. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/ranking-nbas-top-50-players-in-2022-23-season-jokic-giannis-battle-for-no-1-lebron-falls-out-of-top-10/

    2022-2023 Rookie Watch

And Charlotte gave him away. All because the draft was before Miles Bridges meltdown and for some reason they thought they couldn't afford two mid lotto draft picks. Such a terribly run team. Edit. On the radio i heard people complaining that Shaedon wasn't in the dunk contest. He is on the radar of national press. kid looks good but is in a terrible situation as far as stardom. Maybe this will be better for his development but he won't get many looks until Dame or Simons either get traded or miss several months with a big injury. My bet is by his 3rd year they sill have tried to trade Anfernee.
