    2023 NBA Playoffs Thread

Hoping for the best for Vuc. I have no idea where he would want to play. I think he would do well on Toronto, however who knows if they blow up the team or not. It's playoff time! Some of the best first round series in years!

    2023 NBA Playoffs Thread

Yeah the Bulls swept the Heat and i have a feeling they will just throw in the towel. I know the Heat are known for playing hard and having team pride but there is no way Lowry has back to back great games and they are so old. I can see the Bulls winning. Also the freaking Raptors,LOL! They missed 18 free throws! Og Anunoby was exposed a bit. He really is just a glue guy who is limited offensively. You play a guy like that 42 minutes his flaws get exposed. The Raptors were just dangling him in a trade because this next year is his last year under contract. And Scottie is a younger, better version of him. I actually like Vanvleet and Gary Trent. They do so much for what they are, just can't pay them more then their worth. They are 15-18 million dollar a year role players. And Fred has that Dog in him. Missing the free throws really hurt but Fred pulled down 12 boards while dishing 8 assists and only 3 turnovers. He is amazing at his size. I will be watching he Bulls game on Friday, cross your fingers. I don't think i can root for the Heat though.

    2022-2023 Season Thread

I agree he looked really good in the second half of the season. Since the years over here are Paolo and Jabari's stats straight from NBA reference. https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=smithja05&player_id1=banchpa01&sum=0&request=1&utm_campaign=2023_01_wdgt_player_comparison&utm_source=bbr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=banchpa01 They were used differently, just want to point out Jabari was the shooter but like most big men struggled as a rookie to shoot it from deep. In case nobody goes back and looks almost all big men struggle, go look up the super stars like Lebron,Luka,PG,Gianiss etc. Paolo is the better pick anyhow because you can see he will be a guy who creates his own shot and shots for others. It's up to him to work on 3's,efficiancy and how he uses his size to get easy buckets. For comedy if you look closely on that chart you can see Chet's numbers right below Jabari's. LOL!!!! Don't tell me injury and body type are not a concern.

    2022-2023 Trade Idea Thread

Trae is a great offensive player. If we were talking about adding him to the Buddy Ball team four years ago i would be all aboard. It's not four years ago. We do need more offense but now we want two way players. Trae is never going to be good on the defensive end. We need to add guys like Desmond Bane and JJJ. The Grizzles aren't trading them any time soon but look around the league for similar players. Offensively we have two creators and two developing scorers. We need to add one more but paying Trae a max and giving up assets won't make us a contender. Heck he barely made the Hawks a playoff team.

    2022-2023 Draft Thread

It's why i am really not interested in the Thompson twins or Scoot. For the posters who only want shooters, how do you feel about Hawkins? Jordan Hawkins just won a national championship, looked clutch, hit 3's and free throws at a fantastic rate and has actual NBA size for a shooting guard. If we are picking 6,7 or 8 and need the best shooter isn't he the best choice? I'm just posing this question because i know people get stuck on mock drafts. We all know every year half the top ten are complete busts. If you like a guy take him when you can! I want guys who complement the guys we already have. That's why i would probably love it if we got Hendricks and Hawkins. Not projected to be stars but neither looks like a project or bust either.

    2022-2023 Draft Thread

I want one of Walker,Whitmore or Hendricks with the first pick and one of Dick,Hawkins or Wallace with the second pick. My reasoning, if we don't pick in the top 5 i know our Gm's like size, the few top forwards are going to be gone by the Bulls pick. The rest of the draft after pick 8 is chock full of sg/sf type players. Also, i will be the first to say it. If we get the second pick i do not want Scoot but i understand why everyone would. I think he is one of the those players that will take time to be a star and will need the ball in his hands a lot. It would probably slow the growth of the other guys plus he wouldn't work at all with Fultz. The lottery is May 16th. See you guys that day, go Magic! Also i am moving to Denver so i'm about to be a huge Nuggets fan these playoffs.

Gradey is probably gonna suck just because so many Magic fans want him. That is my completely unscientific opinion.

    2022-2023 Season Thread

I suspect Paolo needs one more great game to lock up ROTY. J Will's numbers have really been eye popping the second half of the season. The good thing is the Thunder have some tough losses the last week. They are almost out of the play-in. Not making the playoffs will cool some of the Jalen Williams hype. Or i could be completely wrong and they sit Paolo the final 3 games. Reasoning is that he is right at 20ppg and has been shooting the 3 ball way better the last 15 games with almost 9 rebounds a game. They could see it as wrapped up already and want to keep him healthy and not let him drop below 20ppg. Either way mission accomplished this year for him. He came in as the possibly future star and alpha we need. Cole and Fultz stayed healthy and took a step forward. Wendall is outplaying his contract. Franz is healthy and looks good. Rest of the team needs work. Lots of decisions to be made this summer.

My exact thoughts as always. We need ballers, i see a guard and a forward if we keep both picks. No sense of talking about the top 5 players until the lotto. The way it's looking unless we pick at number two i'm calling a forward with the first pick. Size still gets drafted and the late lotto forwards seem to have moved up in all the mocks. I love Cason because those Kentucky guards just produce. Unless we fall in the Thompson range, i can't see our gm's passing on Whitmore,Walker or even Hendricks if they have the chance. Can take a chance on many guards with the Bulls pick.

Cole has literally done what we all wanted him to do. Come off the bench, improve his 3 point shot. He has been exactly what we expected him to be. Can't say they all turn out that way. Also, i wasn't a believer so i must eat some crow.

The Brunson narrative is a little false. The Mavs offered him a contract the year before he was in his free agent year. It just wasn't enough. Once he balled out last season he basically let them know he was all but gone. I would say they have done some good things and some bad. The Kyrie trade was real bad. Most of the moves before that were ok.

Yeah i'm rooting for the Kings. For decades the Suns were my western team, not anymore! Light the Beam. I'm happy for Murray, he was my pick if we dropped from number 1 last year.

    2022-2023 Season Thread

I just noticed something. Tonight we play the Wizards. They only have two more wins then we do. That's it. This is with the healthiest year from Porzingis and 45 million dollar guard Beal. Remember Kristaps was the first unicorn 7 foot 3 guy. He is the player Henny meant to draft instead of Super Mario. He was part of two huge trades. He got to play with super duper "star" Luka. And Beal is a guy who almost lead the league in scoring once. What the heck has he done? My point is we get too wrapped around these supposed stars or all NBA guys. A lot of them are not winning players. Teams matter, coaching matters, defense matters and how players fit on certain teams matter. We need to build a team, we need two way players and we need to make good decisions. The Magic could be remade with one big move, but taking the slow route is probably best.

I mean, he will be one of the next players to rumored to be traded as soon as this summer. In case none of you know, his current contract was not the max he could have gotten. The contract has one more year after this year. He cannot be extended this summer at max money. He can be extended for less, but that will not happen so he will be a season long distraction as the rumor mill kicks in. Will the Celtics risk losing Jaylen or trade him before he is a free agent. Of course he is exactly the type of player we should be looking at but who knows how this plays out. In my mind he wouldn't be moved this summer unless it was a godfather offer. Having two lotto picks would put us near the top but i don't think we have the players other teams have that we would be willing to trade.

The tourney wasn't really great for the few lotto players in it. Might have helped the fringe guys.

Oh yeah, definitely not basing everything on this, but it is good to see if players step up or not. I can only hope our team actually has people breaking down the tape. We all assume multimillion dollar organizations do this but every year teams draft guys that can't even play basketball on "potential". At least you can scout that aspect a bit in college ball. It will be a hot debate if we move up. A lot of the potential star players show little ability to shoot so far. Having multiple abilities like Grady Dick or Cason Wallace will help the team.

Great post, this is the guy i had my eye on before the tourny and he looked good. Unlike Miller,George,Black,Whitmore(injured) and a few others. Kentucky guards just know how to play, i hope Cason is high on our gm's draft board. Grady looked good but his team lost a tight one. Jarace Walker and Taylor Hendricks looked good and you just know if the Bulls pick falls back into the late lotto they will bring in the UCF kid for a workout.

I'll be watching that Kansas Game at work. Nick and Gradey. https://sidelinecue.com/nba-comparisons-for-the-top-prospects-in-the-2023-nba-draft/ Here is an article worth a look. It's ridiculous comparing these players to NBA greats. We know that won't happen with most of them, but the writer does understand skill sets of players.

Geesh, just about every guy i talked about in the tourney has had a poor shooting night except for Dick. Latest is Wallace, but he is displaying the all around game that Kentucky guards are known for. Purdue just went down. I only saw the last few minutes. You would think they can just get Edey a few lobs in crunch time, but they just fell apart.

Lots of high lottery picks having bad games in the first round. Also, Dick had a good game after a game he missed almost everything. That is a good sign for a shooter.

Forget Scoot for now. Not saying he isn't the prospect every article tells you he his but it's tournament time. You can see players on the floor this week, instead of a guy who played in a fake league and couldn't shoot.

Guys i watched the Kansas game last night in the hotel i work at. Gradey Dick had an awful game. So shooters sometimes have bad games, but watching him play he seems a step slow guarding smaller players. Great effort, but might not have the lateral quickness to be decent in the NBA. Also i was really wanting to watch Brice Sensabaugh this weekend but he was hurt the game Ohio State lost. He seems to have everything we wanted from Chuma, but Brice can shoot. He is definitely on my radar. Plus, he was born in Orlando.

Magic vs Jazz - Thurs., Mar. 9th @ 7 pm

Saw an interesting article about the Heat on the ringer. Both of the runs they had, to the finals in 2020 and the near finals last year, were fueled by 3 point shooting. The Heats two best players are not 3 point shooters. You can see that tonight. However in 2020 and last year everyone else on the Heat were well above league average. Two take away's from this is every year is different. They are bad this year, but were fantastic during the run to the conference finals. You can produce around a few players who don't shoot the 3, but you do have to have some. We can find shooters and some of our players will get better. But Banchero and Fultz do not have to be drop dead shooters, just a threat, at least.
