3 of the 4 teams i thought we could trade with made big moves at the deadline. I have to agree with what you want but i don't see how it's done. of course anything is possible. Despite what some people said last year we did have options. If we had renounced Ross and Vucevic at the beginning of free agency we did have cap space. Yes it would have been a bad look, but the right thing to do. This year even if Evan opts out we have no room and only the small exception. As some else pointed out we have i think the 6th highest payroll in the league for this ****ty team.

Magic Vs. Trailblazers - Monday, March 2 at 7:00 P.M.

This is why i can't stand the defenders on this site. We really are light years away. So many mistakes. We are basically the Suns and Knicks right now. We need new ownership, i can't even get excited about the future, we have no future! Except for a few games a year. we are a very boring team to watch. There is no easy change for this either without some sacrifice. Those draft picks some of you swear are gold will have to be used to get rid of some of these players. The worst thing about our mediocre players is all the playing time they get. During this whole rebuild we hardly take any chances on undrafted or underused players. Sure, when we have injuries whatever poor stiffs our management have cobbled together get minutes.Mostly when everyone is healthy it's the same ****. Checking the Box score it's amazing everyone got on the floor last night. Thinking back it's been this way the whole 8 years. **** players getting 40 minutes a game because our latest coach wants to save his job. Clifford is not the best coach but please stop blaming him. Look how Vogel is doing in L.A. We need talent. The reason i'm so pissed off is i fooled myself thinking the Fultz trade was the beginning of something. Instead they just ran it back, happy they got a former number 1 pick for nothing.

Yeah so bummed i didn't even watch the game and i had the time. I knew we were getting punked by a Lilliard less Portland team.

Wow look at the unrestricted list. A whole bunch of players are going to be out of jobs as teams start copying MLB. Veterans have always been coveted because the youngsters are so raw these days. However, in this analytical age i suspect many of the players will be unsigned while teams go small and use younger players.Cheaper players who have even a little upside will be signed while the lesser teams decide not to compete against the super teams. Watch it happen. This is the year teams show hesitation after the 2016 player salary spike. So many of those contracts were complete busts. I also believe Evan will opt in and the team will run it back next year. After that all bets are off because the year after that the magic will have a window to resign Isaac and Fultz. it won't be as bad as we think because both Gordon's and Vucevics contracts shrink. However, Ross,Aminu and Evan if he resigns will be involved in trade rumors all season, with Gordon right behind them.

  6. Another game i could not watch, Go Magic! I hope Ag keeps this up, i said earlier in the season it was all mental. I might try looking for the replay this morning. I'm all for a winning streak. Checking the box score i was wondering how we did so well when they shot 38% from 3 and we shot 30%. Then i noticed we dominated the boards and the Wolves couldn't hit their free throws. These wins against bad teams are great, i wish we could change up the game plan a little. I don't think we should be taking forty 3 point attempts a game. It worked in this game because of all the second chance points.Against good teams they just rebound all of our misses and run. Great win.

Most young players don't play great defense, it's why vets become so important in the playoffs.

This was always so obvious. Before the draft almost every talking head said he was the most NBA ready and special on offense. Guy just put in the work, that is what it takes, but you need the talent also. Anyhow so many teams slumping it would be a great time for a winning streak, go Magic.

There is no reason for them to deal Beal. Not yet. Let's move on.

    Magic @ Nets - Monday, Feb. 24th at 7:30 P.M.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around Markelle. I rewatched the replay this morning. His shot is still broken but it always seems like the game plan for him is to be passive and a facilitator. Until his role on the team changes it will be hard to see his offensive potential. Right now he is solid as a pass first point guard. Most of his turnovers look like rookie mistakes that can change with more experience. The shooting is pretty rough but seems like it can change, however i don't think he will ever shoot the 3 well. Had to edit, his free throw form is pretty good and that is the basis of my hope. If his injury fully heals this summer or next he can salvage his 3 point shot but right now it's pretty scary.

    Magic @ Nets - Monday, Feb. 24th at 7:30 P.M.

Turned the game off at halftime, came back to it in the 4th. Very surprised, glad we won. Finally made some shots.Still made incredibly stupid plays, hope this AG comes out for the Atlanta game. If you can listen to Stan Van Gundy on 96.9 the game this morning. Stan does a segment every week on that radio station. He has said it before but he was very succinct this morning. Basically said the Magic will never do anything unless they get some shooters. And he reiterated they don't have to be super stars, even made some examples.

I honestly believe there are people in this business who do not watch other teams play. I think our Gm is one of them. Like i said in another post i'm sure this board would have done a better job as gm the last 8 years. Just use the up vote, down vote system to make decisions! LOL!
  14. I mean your not wrong, Ross has looked horrible this year. we need set plays not somebody throwing up shots off balance.
  15. Except we have been historically bad at open shots this year and most years in the rebuild, except last year!
  16. This guy really, really gets it. This goes all the way back to the year Dwight left. The Magic just haven't had enough talent since then. Plain and simple. The problem is not recognizing this quickly enough or doing anything about it! It was good when new management realized Mario and Elfrid were hot garbage, it just needed to happen sooner.Evan and Vucevic might have been the only true starting caliber players we have had the whole time. The problem is they were assets that should have been traded or surrounded with the right stars. And besides a few good games, Gordon has played at a bench players level most of his time here. He is a special case because i think he would have flourished on the right team. This is why i hope he gets traded. Making mistakes is ok if you adapt. Golden State and OKC had two of the most amazing runs in the draft in history. One team has 3 titles and the other team has none. What's the difference? Well much of it was luck because OKC sure did come close a few times. The other is team construction, i think Presti was too active. Giving up on Harden early was the big one but i think the other started with Perkins. Even before Harden left he should have embraced small ball with Durant and Ibaka and had back-ups that would do the same thing. If Durant doesn't switch teams does Presti recognize this and trade Adams before he becomes expensive? I'm not so sure. We had this moment last year.Even though it was succesfull we needed to realize Vucevic wasn't the answer and moved on. The same thing will happen with Fultz and Isaac if we don't surround them with the right players.I think my main disconnect right now is i don't see a plan really.I don't see a change coming without something bad happening. This team is pretty locked in till we have to resign both of them.During this past off season and at the trade deadline i saw a glimmer of hope. Now anything is possible but the whole league really changed in the last 18 months and we didn't.
  17. Guys it wasn't just one of us, we all said re-signing both Vucevic and Ross was a gamble that might play well in a weak eastern conference. It made sense in a small way coming off a playoff year. It made sense from a team standpoint not to trade Vucevic in his best year before the all star game last year. We had a great spring and it paid off in short trip to the playoffs. That being said what is happening this year is our worst fear from those moves. Most of our players have been here for years and couldn't even get us to a .500 record. Well they aren't going to get us there this year as well. Remember we had 4 big player moves from the off season. Resigned Ross and Vuc,acquired Aminu and essentially gained Fultz. I know we have had injuries but 3 of those 4 have been here all year. Aminu looked like a big bust before he got hurt as well. If we took the bold route and simply not signed Ross and Vucevic we would have taken a step back but would have been better for it.It's obvious now our team has taken a step back and now we have very little flexibility. Nuff said. Saw more then one team this trade deadline realize they made a mistake and at least tried to fix the problem. Had to edit, what i meant is most of us didn't want the team to resign those players but understood why team management did it. I wanted us to clear the cap space and at least try to sign someone, almost anyone. Brogdon,Bogdonovic, Morris, Lamb whoever. Any small or short contract would have worked unless we pulled an Indiana and actually got someone like Brogdon.
  18. Oh there is one important poster that hates criticism.
  19. Also reading a post on another site reminded me of something. So far management has made it a thing to make trades at the last second. Literally the last team to make a trade the last two years. Also in free agency we seem to be the first team to sign or resign players. I feel like this makes them look safe, as in they are trying to not go out on a limb. At first i was honestly thinking we are playing hardball, but i think they were playing it safe. concurrently in free agency they made an unimaginative plan and made it quickly so nobody could argue with them within the organization. This is the way i see it now.
  20. This is a great post. Over on pinstripped they can be fans and still be upset with management. Too many teams made either big or small moves the last two years. We didn't. We got Fultz and keep putting out complimentary pieces as stars, bench players as starters and absolute trash as a bench. There were moves to be made, but the Magic chose mediocrity.
  21. You all overestimate both this front office and the last.If we had lost enough to take Porzingus we would have misused him.If we had lost enough to be third the year Tatum was taken, Danny would have taken Tatum anyway and fleeced us for Markelle. If we had somehow gotten the third pick in the Doncic draft i bet we would have worked a trade for Ayton. This is the Orlando Magic now. I would have rather had all of you, this board being the Gm together. How would we look if we had just got Beasly at the deadline? Not even an All-star, not even a player on the national media's radar. Malik Beasly! With this defense? We can't even get the little moves right! Freaking Aminu, Ennis, WHO!!!!!!!

Looking forward to some winning streaks in the next two months but this roster is flawed. Our offense is not exciting and i'm personally going to miss Isaac because watching him improve was my number one reason to tune in besides a good win.

It's well documented that the Magic have hovered around the middle of the pack in both TV and attendance for years. This despite the team having the 3rd or 4th worst record in the league the last 8 years. Memphis had a good long run in playoff appearances and looks to be back on track. They are being talked about nationally and have multiple young players attracting national media attention. This is what i meant. Couple that with a budding star in Morant and an actual roster that fits together and we are lightyears apart. This will be true even if both teams get the 8th seed in our respective conference. You can be a fan and still be objective.

What? They are in a playoff spot in the west after trading away all of the old core they had. Yes Ja dropped into their laps but can't blame them for that. They refused to trade Dillon Brooks several times and took advantage of Toronto's playoff push to get a great center in JV. They deftly used cap space and trades to acquire several interesting players including Jones,Melton,Jackson and Winslow. And oh yeah they drafted Brandon Clarke, why didn't we draft him again?

    2019-2020 Official Trade Ideas Thread

Stolen from another forum. Orlando Pinstripedpost. Gordon already played 390 games in nba, logged 11 000 min and took 4200 FGA. it’s clear what he is and what he isn’t. Do you think best days are ahead of Payton, Randle, Stauskas, Vonleh, TJ Warren too? If not why only keep that hope/hype/expetations for Gordon? ( in life sure, basketball career? Ehhh). Guy has been in nba for full 6 years. It’s irrelevant what he did in 7 games, for 48 games he played he has been mediocre to say a least. Almost every player has periods of time during season when he plays better or worst. There was period of time when Hezonja averaged like 17 and 6 and we know how that went. Payton averaged triple double for 5 games straight last year. Did it matter in long run? Not really. Gordon might "get started this season" but Magic do not. There is only 27 games left in regular season and it’s looking hard for them to catch Nets. So Magic season will culminate in 4 to 5 game rout against Bucks. Do you know Gordon’s stats against Bucks over 4 games? 8 ppg, 23% FG ,19% for 3. Giannis dwarfs him.
