I don't see that as us being used. I don't necessarily think Brad Stephens saying that has any bearing on whether or not there are potential trade talks. Until something happens, no one knows.

As it should be. Oh well.

Do you think there's any chance they'd give up Brooklyn's pick along with Crowder/filler for something like Vuc/Hezonja/Payton? I'm guessing there's no way we can pry it away.

Less than nil I'd say. Somewhere between ouch and boiiiing.

Woah now we're talking. I'm going to try to not get too excited for this, but I'd be absolutely ecstatic if we we able to get Crowder for Vuc. It just seems to fit on every single level. Spacing, defense, rotations. If this is really a possibility, it's time for Henny to show us something.

Gotcha. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. **The most recent one you mentioned, involving NO and Philly.

Just curious- In that scenario, how is Denver able to bring in a contract without sending one out?

Does his PPP make it impossible to construct something based around Biz/Fournier for McCollum? They get their defensive big and partially replace the shooting they'd ship out. I get the basic idea of the PPP, but not equipped to figure it out on my own.

Right, some things just don't work out. However, a good Front Office is able to limit the moves that don't work out and mitigate the misses with moves that work out better than expected (admittedly, Vuc and Fournier fall into that category). At this point though, our FO has shown that it misses more than it hits, and that's where I'm coming from.

As of right now, the Hezonja pick was a mistake. I'm still optimistic that he can turn out to be a productive player, but he's been disappointing so far. Payton has been a disappointment overall (it's important to note that I'm one of his biggest supporters), who hasn't been what the FO no doubt expected him to be by this point. I guess my pessimism isn't solely in regard to the use of a high draft pick, but the overall competency of the front office to make the right move, whether it's in the draft, FA, trades, whatever. I'll love for them to give me a reason to be optimistic, and sooner rather than later. I'm just tired of wasting assets and opportunities and I'm worried that's what would happen with this hypothetical trade with Boston for the Brooklyn pick, that's all I was saying.

I'd be a lot more supportive of that idea if I had any confidence in our front office to use that pick on the right guy. But recent history tells me they'd just screw it up again.

My biggest problem with Lavine is that his facial expression is always that of a 14 year old who just had his cell phone taken away.

You're just stirring the pot, I'm sure, but what's the point? We all know there is no chance in hell the Bucks would even half way consider making that trade.

I actually was being sarcastic, as the quote from the article didn't say anything that any of us don't already know. We suck and our draft picks are trending more towards being busts than stars. We all know this.

You've got to think that his athleticism gives him more potential on the defensive end than Evan. I'd definitely do a swap of Ibaka for Lavine and see what Vogel can get out of him. If he shows commitment to being an all around player then resign him, if not, let him go. With Evan, we already know what we have. We're at the point where we'll need to take some chances and hope that our recent luck turns around.

There's nothing wrong with having him as a starting center, as long as you have the right pieces elsewhere. If he continues to play solid team defense like he is currently, then hes not necessarily what would prevent us from contending. He's a nice piece as a 3rd option. We just don't have strong enough scoring options ahead of him at this point.

Of course. I'm hopeful that the positive impact he'll have on offense will result in an overall net improvement, even if he's not our best perimeter defender. I trust Vogel to make things work on the defensive end with him in there. And as we know, increased efficiency on offense directly effects success at the defensive end. I don't think he's going to turn us into a contender by any means, but I'm optimistic about the effect he'll have. But I've been disappointed before.

I have a feeling that lineups with Meeks might be some of our most efficient for that same reason.

I really wish we could have seen what Vogel could have done with our lineup without the Vic trade, everything else being the same, at least for half a season. After seeing what he's done to improve Vuc in particular on the defensive end, it really would have been interesting.

I think a lineup of Payton/Meeks/Fournier/AG/Ibaka would be very interesting if Vogel gives it a shot. Nice balance of shooting and defense. Meeks and Fournier should open up things nicely for PnR between Payton and either big.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I never see anyone mention Green's expiring contract as an asset that can be added into a trade. Seems to me that there would be quite a few teams interested that $15M expiring.

    2016-2017 Season Discussion Thread

Of course. I'm just wondering about the over feeling of keeping him vs trading him. I know its been pretty much the consensus that he needs to be traded (partly due to being the odd man out in a crowded front court and partly due to him being the best asset among the guys we'd all be cool with trading). But if things start clicking and running more smoothly, it'll be interesting to see what we do. Trading him for a more offensive PG/SF would clearly be a good thing, but can we get someone who makes it worth it to lose our best interior team defender (as he currently is, statistically).
