The Official 2015-2016 Trade Thread
TheNameIsOrlando replied to Soul Bro's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
The injury clause applies because those players had the injury bug far before signing with those teams. It was known and they were still signed. Injured before 32 probably gonna be injured after. If they had nothing left or not there were only 4 players you named who met the age requirement. So ok I'll give you Wallace although I believe those 6 players I mentioned are better than Wallace was at that point. Not sure what you are saying about Johnson but being that he was overrated his entire career he wouldn't of been a guy I would shoot for. You mentioned him not me. at Chris Paul is virtually at his career averages no drop off yet. Bosh is at his career average with virtually the same averages while wCarmelo. Only drop off was from Toronto to Mia. Obviously happens when you're no longer #1 guy. Same with Aldridge. Gasol is nearly the same. Lebron as well. Carmelo holds true as well. I looked up the per 36 #s of these players and see very little if no drop off. So if you could provide or steer me in the right direction with these "significant decline" #s I'd appreciate it. By the time these guys are 33-34 they'd slide over to 3rd option guys via the growth of our young guys or the pickup of a star FA. All the while we would be competing in the playoffs. Again I'm not saying sign any of these guys for $50 million let alone $125 million. My problem may lie in the fact that I don't know what those 6 guys currently make. So my argument may be for nothing. My point is if there is a -32 year old out there who is a FA with a reasonable contract or close to ending contract I'd do it. Especially if they are willing to sign for 3-4 years on a far less contract than a Carmelo $125 million contract. That may not be possible though. -

I'd venture to say of the 31 and younger players you mentioned 6 out of the 8 have at least 3 years left of above average play at their position left in them. Paul Bosh Aldridge Gasol Lebron Carmelo The two outliers would probably be Dwight and Jefferson. Your list of Amare Shaq Nash ect. Consist of players who had very little or nothing left. I'm not saying sign the guys to a 5 year 50 million contract but if we could land 1 of those 6 players for something like 3 years 24 million(depending on which player it was obviously) then you do it. Also Nash 38 plus injuries Amare 28 but injuries Pierce 37 Garnett 37 Shaq 37 plus injuries Billups 35 Wallace 32 & 34 absolute role player for career Brand Johnson Amare and Iverson are the only four guys that meet the age criteria of my argument. Of those 4 guys 1 was overrated his entire career(Johnson) 1 was injury prone(amare) and 1 was far beyond the decline portion of his career. Iverson would have been the only viable option and he was pretty decent in Denver. -

I'll have to disagree here. I'd be willing to take a guy who is 32 or younger. Sign them to 3-4 years. This allows us to make the playoffs and begin competing while developing our young talent and hopefully luring in a big time guy who is in the beginning of his prime. I've been preaching the signing of a competent vet for a little while now. I just believe this team is far too young to win and needs a veteran presence. -

I'd be ok with Conley but he isn't nearly as good as CP3 in my opinion. -

I'm completely fine with this. Harris does his job. I would like him to be more aggressive on offense though. I think with Skiles being the coach everyone is still trying to figure out their roles and what they are and are not allowed to do. -

He's only 30...The question is what do we give up? With Paul we could easily attract FAs even though hes a bit of a hot head. I'd do it. -

Fournier has been pretty inconsistent as well. I'm not sure anyone has been having a "good"year. Vuch is probably having the most consistent. There has just been a lot of off an on from all of our players and they're never on while another is on unfortunately. -

To be honest I knew very little about him before he was traded last year so I assumed he was closer to the second half of the season with the Cavs than his terrible PPG average. I didnt do any research before posting so that is my mistake. I was throwing it out there to see if it made sense which I see now it doesnt. After watching him last year it seemed like he was at worst a 10 6 guy. -

The thing is there is a difference between starting him and giving him more minutes. I'm pretty positive everyone would like him to have more minutes. With that said him starting is not the answer to more minutes. -

I dont think Mozgov is better than Vuc. I think he is serviceable and better than 6 ppg. In this era of basketball you dont need a center of Vuch's caliber. A big man of his caliber is pointless. Its trade season so im just throwing stuff out there. The Cavs probably have nothing to offer but I figured there may be a guy buried that was a hidden gem of sorts. -

Not sure they will go in panic mode until the season after disappointment. So if they start to suck now into next season nothing happens until late next year. -

None of our players know how to win. We need someone who has been there to guide these kids in tough situations. If we continue to lose these close games they may lose confidence in these situations. I don't want it to become a habit which it kind of is already. Veteran leadership is needed on every team. We need a guy in the huddle who is not Skiles that keeps the composer of the team so we don't have 3 turnovers in the first 2 minutes of overtime like last night. -

I am so ready for a solid veteran that is on the downward side of his prime that contributes but ultimately teaches the 3-6 young guys on the team how and what to do. When we were losing it was easy to ignore because I simply didnt watch the games. Now we are winning but not enough. I just want our young guys to play to their maximum and im not patient enough to wait. I feel like if we had more of a dominant vet presence they all would be playing better. I'm willing to overpay for a guy like Granett, Pierce, Dirk, Kobe, Bosh, Iggy, Deng, Randolph. Old McGrady, Carter, Wallace. I just want a guy with some passion and leadership. We have 0 leaders(as in a player that ultimately understands what a leader is and what a winning culture is) on this team. We are ahead of or at least on schedule but I feel like we could be so much more if we weren't one of the youngest teams in the NBA. I really really hate it! -

His Mid-Range game is so silky! Isnt that 16-3-point line shot the worst shot to take in the NBA? 54% is amazing! -
