    5. Jonathan Isaac, in flashes

Isaac is raw and unsteady on offense, but in every game, you see glimpses of the all-court wrecker he is going to be on the other end (assuming he's not made of glass):

Dude is everywhere. The power of elite length and speed lies in the ability to help more without leaving anyone open -- to in effect be in two places at once. Isaac gets away with things that are off-limits to most players -- including helping off shooters in the near corner:

The awkward, supersized Aaron Gordon-Isaac-Nikola Vucevic trio has slumped on offense over the last month; Orlando has scored just 101.8 points per 100 possessions with those three on the floor, barely above Chicago's league-worst mark. That alignment may be unworkable in the long run. We still don't really know what Gordon is on offense.

But Orlando is smothering opposing offenses with that trio on the floor, and Isaac is a big part of that. He looks comfortable defending both forward positions in his weirdo role on this weirdo team.

Isaac getting some love from Lowe.

I understand the desire to fix our PG position but Ross for Fultz or Ball straight up, to me, is  non negotiable.  While it is "potentially" a huge piece for us, Ross is an "immediate" huge piece to either Philly or the Lakers, who are already better than us.  The big question would be do we think Fultz or Ball, when developed, will be much better than Ross's contribution.  I am not there yet.

Remember contracts need to be factored in too though. With Ball and Fultz, we have 2 more seasons after this where they are under contract, plus a basic "right of first refusal" with the player as part of free agency.

Ross, as much as we love him, as a UFA after this season and is not guaranteed to resign. Also, if we do resign him, it will be for more than Fultz or Ball's rookie contracts per year.

You are giving up Ross, a good player on an expiring contract for a player that could end up being a cornerstone of the team.

So does Grant slide to the 2 if we give up ross

I think that could be an option. I think Grant would work better as a 2 and as a secondary ball handler. He is a decent defender, and can play with the ball in his hands, but is not a dynamic passer and probably scores best in catch and shoot scenarios (80% of his 3 pointers are assisted, and he shoots 39% on catch and shoot 3s).

Should we have a trade rumor thread that only catalogs rumors from actual sources and those discussions (and not speculative made up trades by us)?

Back in the day we had several topics going at once. The last few years with the daily discussion being limited to like 8 members a team discussion/draft discussion/game thread system worked pretty well. Now that we're growing again it might make sense to start having topics branch out.

I think it would be good to have a trade thread. I feel this thread should be specifically for how we are playing overall in the year (and a little about other teams and players too). It is getting a little messy to go through with everything being discussed in this thread.

I've been saying it for a while. His off the dribble shot looks a lot better, almost imitating KD.

Bamba's off the catch shot is money and Isaac should try to replicate it

Isaac is almost 80% from the line- you'd think he was a better 3 point shooter.

Is Ball considered a good defender? I haven't really watched him much to this point to see for myself.

Using last year's #s, the Lakers were 3 points per 100 possessions better on defense with Ball on the court than off the court (via 82games). Last year, opposing players shot 3.3% lower than their yearly averages when he was the main defender. This hasn't been as high this year, but he isn't a problem on the defensive end.

His size allows him to switch easily as well, and he is a smart player.

A lot of that has to do with DJ being risk averse. He'll back out of a fast break to just set up the offense.

Yeah, and Ball is the complete opposite in that regard. He loves to get out in transition and push the ball. If you are talking about easy points, there are some easy points that we are missing.

And other guys have the opportunity to push the ball too, but it often seems like it is only really after a Gordon rebound that our guys are running up the court trying to get the opposing offense out of order for an easy basket.

Yeah. I think Ball could replicate vucevic's offense just by getting Gordon, Isaac, and Bamba easy buckets that they're currently not getting because we don't have anyone who can pass

Ball isn’t a ball hog either, so our offense should be able to continue with the amount of motion in it. And he pushes the ball in transition, which our team is missing right now. It seems like the only guy who really pushes the ball in transition often is Gordon right now.

(We are towards the bottom in transition offense frequency and points per transition offense attempt)
