One of the biggest busts I’ve seen play for the Magic. Draymond described it perfectly.

And I’m getting tired of rating players highly by their athleticism or freaking wingspan. Jalen Brunson and Desmond Bane - to name two - are straight up ballers that fell in the draft for stupid reasons.

Honestly idk if he was even a bust. He was exactly what he was predicted to be.

  2. I think it is fair to question the FO’s player acquisition plan writ large, but not based on activity in this free agent period (which is not over btw). I don’t think it is an issue of being cheap but an issue of maybe being too deliberate. However, there really wasn’t anyone realistically available that is more than just a solid role player, which we do admittedly still need more of.

And are people really getting mad that we won’t trade for Tyler Herro who Miami didn’t want to put on the floor?

Ayton is not at my favourite Center under 25 years old that I would add to our core. Also, if this is true, I presume Indiana would be all over the Suns to get him.

But, if we could be that 3rd team on this deal and get Ayton in exchange for some assets such as Harris, Isaac and a filer (Okeke?), I would definitely go for it.

Having Ayton would create many options on our frontcourt and he could be a very useful scoring punch in the paint.

Tobias Harris seems like the most redundant addition to that team. One would think if they are moving Ayton they would want multiple players to fill holes rather than using lol the space for someone who is worse in the playoffs, but no one has ever said Isaiah Thomas was good at running a team

  4. Black and Wallace only went 4 picks apart so regardless of who you think is better there isn’t a huge gulf. Personally I think they will both be good but prefer Black if I’m looking for a primary initiator (which I don’t think he will even be asked to be).

I guess I can understand being confused by Black and even pessimistic about it because of his skill set looking very similar to what we have, but it is not like we are all confident what we currently have is what we will have when we are contending - We are multiple years away from Franz and Paolo’s prime years so who knows what the roster will be. But even outside the similarities it is not as if we dont still need players who are good defenders or passers or ball handlers. I also think there is an intentionality in getting someone who will have to compete against entrenched players to carve out a role (whether that is a great idea can also be debated).

The latter is why I don’t think we are getting recently looking to move Coke or Suggs. I think they want some friction to bring out the best in the players. What will be interesting to me is if they still go after FVV as people have previously pointed to.

In any case I think Black makes the team better and am excited to see him play. Still not sure what I think about Jett

If he’s a weird fit …and I agree …why would that make you happy ?

Just because I like Black as a player. Long, smart, great defender, helps in all the stuff that isn’t in the stat sheet. The shooting issues are comparable to Scoot and probably better than the twins at this point. I want shooting as much as anyone but I just think he is really good

  6. I think it is a decent deal for the Suns honestly. With their cap and contracts they were really limited in what they could realistically add to the team and Beal makes them immediately better just in terms of his availability. Not sure Frank Vogel is the guy to put it all together but that is a different issue.

They probably still need to deal Ayton so they can add good role players around the top 3 so I think the grade is incomplete still

I don't get the logic of Booker & Beal together. They're basically the same archetype but Booker is better.

I think it is simply because they weren’t good enough in the postseason to win with their current roster, and this is one of the only moves they can make with the salaries they have

  8. I think part of the calculus should be that ideally we won’t be drafting this high again so if we could jump up to get one of the top 3 guys it may be worth more than adding two players. Same reason I am for making a big swing in free agency, we won’t have as easy a path to cap space in the future as we do now
