Got number 1 right
-
Adding Beal is an interesting thought experiment as to what other moves would accompany it. I think it would make us more interested in players who may not otherwise be on the radar currently, and vice versa
-
It would be foolish to not attempt to sign Beal
-
Yeah I’m hoping Braun is there at the top of the second round
-
Personally I like Cole
-
Hmm I wonder why players wouldn’t mention the magic in an article for a thunder website……………….
-
Yeah he definitely developed as a more all around player when he got to play for a coach that actually understood offense
-
Baldwin is a strange one because he isn’t really a big. He’s more like a giant 2 guard. The problem is that after looking really good in HS he went to a bad team and looked terrible most of the time, then apparently tasted really poorly. Hard to know what to do with him. kinda similar to the story with Cam Reddish a couple years ago. Highly touted out of HS, did not back that up in college. How much do you take into account what they looked like as a prospect out of HS?
-
And yet he was still +15. He had a bad shooting night for sure but to say he was bad is not exactly accurate
-
Of course the trouble with not having a consensus top guy means that every team sees the value issue. Why would they trade up?
-
No matter who we pick by or where we pick, for any of them to develop into a number one option kind of guy they will be an outlier. Guys who come in with those skills are outliers. It’s the name of the game. On some level it is about picking who has the biggest head start or the best traits to help along that development
-
That’s the trouble with these unicorn prospects. They are all a bit different from each other and there aren’t real easy pints of comparison. Kevin Garnett maybe? The closest you find at his size and skill level today is probably Giannis, but both of those are just absurd comps to make. i do know that when he went against Chet over the summer it was pretty clear he was the better player
-
It’s an interesting comparison. I don’t really remember much about Tatum in college but I don’t think there was ever any question that his future in the NBA was as a wing rather than a big, whereas the same can’t be said about Paolo. Tho with Franz next to him I don’t know if that matters too much. The odds makers seem pretty sure it is Jabari, but I dont think any of them are off the table fit-wise, since to an extent each of the top 3 fit into spots on the team where capital has already been invested
-
If Jabari does become Rashard Lewis with defense like some have talked about, I take that every day of the week at number 1. It doesn’t really solve our problem of needing THE guy, but would be a coup compared to what most top picks turn out to be
-
I remember reading some an athletic article that had his comp as Jrue, which would be great. May not be a number one scorer or ball handler, but definitely a guy you win with
-
Just thinking about how the Magic have never not taken a center with the number 1 pick so obviously we are taking Chet
-
I honestly never thought I would see the day. Kinda mad I expected a bad outcome and so didn’t watch lol
-
While I will yell about our need to get a true number one guy all day, I honestly would also be ok with the guy you are describing. He may not be the guy to elevate the team by himself but I think drafting a guy who will elevate everyone else’s game with his complementary play would be a good use of a pick. Especially in a draft where those potential standouts have way more questions about their game
-
It is really remarkable how much closer the teams in the 2-7 west matchup are than in our 2-7 matchup vs Toronto in 2019
-
This is really just vintage AG. Every good and bad part of his game on full display
-
Would it be worth drafting Chet just to make sure they don’t re-sign Bamba? I’m at least partially serious lol
-
I’ve come around in Paolo. Don’t know if his fit is perfect but he has all the tools to be the modern 4. It’s kind of weird how the two top 4s in the draft are kind of souped-up versions of what Carter and Okeke in the draft.

I think they go after Miles Bridges

2021-2022 Orlando Magic Season Thread… Let’s Goo!!!
Jason Funderburker replied to All Eyes On Me's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
The only player on that list I think we should try to spend big money on would be Miles Bridges. I also absolutely think we do that, but he is a RFA. I think using the TPE to bring in a pick and contract and push our cap space to another year may not be a bad avenue -
I think when using terms like wing you are generally defined by who one guards, and Suggs absolutely will guard other wings. Hampton too probably but he seems mostly a bench guy so not sure it matters. In any case, I would say the one position on the team where we do have a player for the long term is on the wing is Franz
