Kinda funny how a young coach actually makes more sense, almost counterintuitively, with an experienced team -

Why would gentry leave GS to be an assistant here? -

Marcelo Huertas coming to the NBA. Would be a really nice backup PG and could help the possible transition of Hezonja -
Jordan Crawford has never been as good a shooter though
-
Think at his high end he can be a more athletic, potential primary ball handler version of Klay His potential is so tantalizing. Say what you want about his attitude "concerns" - he is a guy who will take and make shots when the team needs it and that is the kind of player we are lacking Hezonja and Russell are still 1A/1B for me

Any player would have sufficed in that situation. Ayon's salary was negligible -

But we didn't get something. Him being a free agent has no real bearing because he wanted to stay here -

He is actually a good X's & O's guy, buy he also knows when to let his best player work. Watch his teams w/o Rose and you would see it -
Gonna be a lot harder to trade him when he signs that overpriced contract

Shrewd moved by Hennigan to trade him for a sandwich -
It's an interesting thought on who is a better fit. I think if you put McLemore in last year's lineup instead of Vic, and asked him to do the same things, he would have come up far short. He would have had a bigger numbers jump this past season, however, with Payton on the ball. I think McLemore has shown what he will be: A complementary player, a high-level 3-and-D at his ceiling (barring a Jimmy Butler-type leap). With Vic we don't really know

That is good to hear. I still think there are major questions with this roster (though which could be answered this off season with some luck) but if basketball people are intrigued then I won't argue -
McLemore may be a better fit, but we would be a worse team with him and worse off in the long run

When you put Green and Leonard in the same sentence I assumed you were equating their value. In that case, Green would never live up to that contract. But 4-7 per year? How in the world is that not worth it? That is basically what you are paying for any 3 and D guy, with the added benefit of a veteran locker room presence I would cheer if we got Green for that -

We have a bunch of young bodies so potential overuse injuries don't concern me in the immediate. My only (small) concern with Thibs is his offensive scheme. He doesn't really subscribe to the pace and space ideology, and his tendency to use two non-stretch post players would really clog things up for our non-shooting backcourt. I think adding a guy from the D'antoni tree would be a smart addition to a potential staff. To his credit, though, he clearly see this issue and took steps to remedy it adding McDermott and Mirotic (though he used Mirotic at the three too often) -

Back to Tristan Thompson for a second, he would be a perfect fit in Thibs' two post offense. It does appear he will want (and receive) more money than I previously assumed though, so it likely isn't worth it -

I don't know how anyone could have "major doubts" about a guy who is one of the 5 best coaches in the game. Overuse is a worry, and he could certainly take a page out of Pop's book wrt resting players. I'm not sure correlation equals causation with the injuries, but the only injury that has hindered their progress in the postseason is Rose. It is generally remarkable how much he gets out of his patchwork teams. -
I don't imagine any workout would be able to confirm or deny any those things. If Russell is available you take him. He is a tier above Winslow IMO, plus at a higher value position

Mark Jackson would be a good transition guy like he ended up being for GS, but while he developed the players there he also severely held then back with his complete lack of any offensive scheme or strategy. Plus hard to give the reins to a guy with the problems he had with the FO -

I've never heard anything about him being a bad teammate. I mean he has only been on basically one other team -

To hear him tell out the only team that even went after him was PHX. I really wanted to make a deal for him at the deadline
