MAGIC @ Lakers 10.30 EST - Official Game Thread

His final drive to the hoop side, Suggs’s +10 is wild -
Anthony Black said he was working on a bum ankle during summer league
-
I personally would not want to be the team that made brown the highest paid player ever but that is just me
-
One thing we can agree on is Chuck is wild when he drinks
-
If he becomes even a league average shooter it dramatically increases his impact on the floor. Edit: it is interesting to me how all the big time roomies last year had a big second year slump except Franz. I don’t think a slump from Paolo in year 2 should be unexpected or even a bad sign, but I will not be surprised if his work ethic along with this staff prevents that from happening

Takes two teams to trade. Easy to just say we could have done it and assume there were tons of offers -

Unfortunately the draft would have needed to go a different way for us to have considered Wallace. Weren’t taking him at 6 and can’t take him after Black. He will be a good player -
If they aren’t able to pull off harden for Lillard three way they have to look at their off-season as a failure

Shaq is one of the 10 best players ever. Of course Paolo isn’t as good -
Finally I can stop reading WeltHam lol. Never made sense to me since Weltman is the decision maker
-
Honestly idk if he was even a bust. He was exactly what he was predicted to be.
-
That would actually be hilarious and fun to watch lol

I think it is fair to question the FO’s player acquisition plan writ large, but not based on activity in this free agent period (which is not over btw). I don’t think it is an issue of being cheap but an issue of maybe being too deliberate. However, there really wasn’t anyone realistically available that is more than just a solid role player, which we do admittedly still need more of. And are people really getting mad that we won’t trade for Tyler Herro who Miami didn’t want to put on the floor?
-
Not sure what Miami has to give Portland. 76ers are much more interesting if they could do a three way deal with harden
-
I wouldn’t mind throwing the MLE at DiVincenzo. Would be kind of humorous to add another guard lol. Honestly not a whole lot out there that feels better than what we have. Wonder if they will try and work the trade market
-
Realistically I knew we weren’t going to get involved with him (or any of the guys getting big returning contracts), and I know we would have needed to fork over a lot more for them not to match, but man I wish we had
-
Honestly not as much as I thought
-
Tobias Harris seems like the most redundant addition to that team. One would think if they are moving Ayton they would want multiple players to fill holes rather than using lol the space for someone who is worse in the playoffs, but no one has ever said Isaiah Thomas was good at running a team
-
The problem with Reaves and the two Miami guys is that they are just going to make huge amounts of money that I doubt they are going to be able to play up to
-
Black and Wallace only went 4 picks apart so regardless of who you think is better there isn’t a huge gulf. Personally I think they will both be good but prefer Black if I’m looking for a primary initiator (which I don’t think he will even be asked to be). I guess I can understand being confused by Black and even pessimistic about it because of his skill set looking very similar to what we have, but it is not like we are all confident what we currently have is what we will have when we are contending - We are multiple years away from Franz and Paolo’s prime years so who knows what the roster will be. But even outside the similarities it is not as if we dont still need players who are good defenders or passers or ball handlers. I also think there is an intentionality in getting someone who will have to compete against entrenched players to carve out a role (whether that is a great idea can also be debated). The latter is why I don’t think we are getting recently looking to move Coke or Suggs. I think they want some friction to bring out the best in the players. What will be interesting to me is if they still go after FVV as people have previously pointed to. In any case I think Black makes the team better and am excited to see him play. Still not sure what I think about Jett

Getting some good laughs from this thread

Would make sense unless there is some connection with the FO and Juwan that I don’t know of
-
It’s a reach but at least he can shoot. The continual Michigan thing kind of bothers me lol

Big fan
