In the comments of one of Josh Robbins’ Atheltic round tables about magic trade partners, people brought up a deal with Portland based around AG and Gary Trent, which I think would be pretty good

This is fine I guess, tho I would hope we got Keldon Johnson instead of Samanic. personally I don’t really want to trade Vuc, even tho I know he would bring in the best return. I think there is a world where you can move Fournier and AG (and maybe Ross) to get some young pieces and cap relief, which combined with a healthy roster (a big if), a high draft pick, and ideally a coach with a modern offensive scheme would produce a compelling team

This is Robbins’ position every time people bring up trading Fournier. “Who is going to replace him?” They are going to eventually need to move AG anyway so I don’t see why you would wring your hands over it

I get this mentality, and you are right. But I don’t think this FO has given fans much trust that they would be able to find that guy in the teens who ends up becoming a star

This is an incredibly unfair take. You are basically writing off any good Vuch does because of the situation he is in. Then in the event he is on a better team and his numbers go down you can point back and say “see I told you so”. You seem to completely write off the possibility that he has just, yknow, gotten better
