He might need to work some more on his ball handling and pray SVG will give him the chance again.

Artest has bcome a consistent 3pt shooter (what the Lakers lacked). He's overall better than Ariza, in my opinion Looks like Sheed is off the table and Otis "the silent genius" might not match Gortat (the rationale being Van Dumby will only give him garbage minutes).. great so, if anyone ends up stealing Bass from us, what are our options besides fat Baby? just leftovers who aren't worth a **** when we need to trade to upgrade

Dear Otis (and fellow Magic fans too) Gortat is a legit 7' tall, strong, quick and low post defensive presence (not to mention he's young). That's nothing new. That he might still be a bit raw is an argument but to think "oh we've got the best center in the NBA (Howard) we don't need him (Gortat) to me is downright stupidity which is ok coming from fans' mouths but scary if our GM (Otis) and our coach (Stan Van Dumby) also felt this way. Mostly due to our coach's "gameplan" (if it can be called such) with Gortat on the floor touches can be more even and chemistry is actually improved (think playoff game against Sixers). Granted, not every game will be like that but it shocked everyone how good our execution and tempo looked. Gortat's reaction time on offense to catch a pass and finish is just as good as Howard's, if not better. -Gortat actually plays smarter defense getting seemingly effortless blocks without racking up the unnecessary fouls or silly goaltends Dwight gets. Howard as a "superstar" should get by now the importance of getting the respect from the refs, it's about time. Howard is freakishly athletic and his lack of bball IQ sometimes is also freakishly lacking. While we're on the subject, Dwight can already be considered a veteran in NBA years and is still raw offensively and well-coached teams can get him frustrated as we saw in the finals. My question is: who hired Ewing? Because this is clearly not working. Instead of the Stoudamire-like, facing-the-basket game Howard should have been capable of with his agility and leaping ability, with 5 years in the league under his belt all D12 has to show for is a copy of Ewing's SLOW back to the basket predictable moves -but at least he had a jumpshot when the defense took his sluggish moves away-. So Otis? Stan? Vanderweide? (don't care who it is) needs to find a basketball coach who can teach the kid??? -not anymore in term of NBA years- to learn how to play facing the basket. -Scrap the pump-faking under the basket IT DOES NOT WORK!!! He's too athletic and quick for that garbage. He ends up on the line everytime before the shot attempt, then we get to watch him miss the free throws (Lakers series). Someone teach Howard to face the basket, use his hops and extension to slam it and worry about getting fouled later. Instead of ending up on the line WITHOUT the easy 2 points.... If Master of Panic insists on the inside-out game he needs to devise plays for Howard to score more field goals (not free throw attempts) Oh and by the way, Dwight needs to stop listening to Soulja Boy he's not a teen anymore. Something tells me "Crank Dat" did nothing for his Basketball IQ -Rasheed Wallace is on the decline, either lack of effort (or just getting old) but didn't he appear lost in the action when we played Detroit last season? McDyess/Maxiell was the real nightmare for us offensively, defensively and on the glass. Otis better go after Brandon Bass too (assuming Rasheed signs with us) or we're going to have no depth assuming Gortat is gone (we also lost Tony Battie). One positive about getting Sheed is how long until his short fuse goes off on SVG and his screaming vagina panic attacks. No way Sheed is gonna put up such tactics or with the treatment SVG gave Gortat. -Coach said he would be adopting some elements of the triangle offense (and that's great). Before we get to that, first he needs to practice how to run a simple fast break. Does he know how to do that? Our execution on the fast break was so bad it even raised a n a lyst eyebrows and I had to sit through more awful, useless commentary from the likes of John Barry and such doubting the Magic (only this time deservingly so) How is the team who can't run the fast break even in the finals? I know we rode on talent until the end, but there are situations where that comes to bite you in the rear if you don't have a plan, and/or plays and instead make the dumbest substitution ever to screw with your chemistry OUT OF PANIC (as game 4 of finals illustrates so well) To summarize: Just when you thought management had learned their lesson after Gabriel let Wallace go, and here we are with Otis once again after unnecessarily overpaying for Lewis, about to let go of a another efficient, legit 7-footer with upside and youth. That will be beyond dumb. With such a player in this offseason is where you have to overpay some if you have to. A little more star power (Vince) doesn't have to come at the expense of depleting our depth. We were possibly the deepest team in the league until a week ago. Retain Gortat, it's obvious he's not one of Van Dumby's favorite but he might even help us land someone like Amare Stoudamire one of these days. Don't let your assets walk for nothing, stupid. How does a team who manages to hang on to guys like Pat Garrity for almost a decade, can let legit big men like Wallace and Gortat go so easily???? Only the Magic.
