Is Anyone else enjoying watching the Lakers?
CTMagicUK replied to Orlando Magic Toaster's topic in Around the NBA/Globe Game
If the Lakers can't beat the Knicks and lose to either the Cavs or Wizards I fully expect Kobe will get D'Antoni fired lol... No, really I think D'Antoni has until Nash is healthy, if they don't start winning games from then on after he's been giving it the whole "things will change when he's back" then he's gone. EDIT: What's funny is a lot of fans called the fact that the Lakers would find it hard to gel and would struggle with injuries due to their age and yet the so called "experts" are surprised. -
Predicting the rest of the season
CTMagicUK replied to blueandwhiteunite's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Having looked over the schedule I think there are 12 to 14 games that we should win and then I'll say maybe 6 upset wins as well and we finish with about 28-30 wins. -

JJ is one of the best three point shooters on the planet and can't even get a look-in for the 3 point shooting contest at all-star weekend. If he wins 6th Man of the year I'll be incredibly surprised. And if we do make the playoffs (which I don't think we will personally) and JJ does have a great game in the playoffs that will only increase his price on the open market. -

To be honest you don't think those names just because the guy played their for a long time. For example if I said Detroit who would you think? Probably not Tayshaun Prince who has been there his entire career. But probably Isiah Thomas, maybe Chauncey Billups or Ben Wallace. The point is JJ is a good player who is probably at the height of his career right now, but almost every guy you mentioned is or will be in the Hall of Fame. Even if we did resign JJ now, I doubt in 20 years time he will be the first name that pops into people's heads when you say Orlando Magic. -
I've got to say I love Vaughn's coaching all around. Loved his sprint to the half to call the time out lol. He also seems to be a nice guy off the court. I can understand why players get along with him.

I was just thinking, if Dwight decides he doesn't want to stay in LA after this year and with Nash and Pau always injured and both those guys (with Kobe as well) aging. Our pick(s? I don't remember) from LA may be better than imagined, I know there were some protections but still. Obviously that's a long shot but even with Howard they're not playing well at the moment. -
I say Magic win by 2. Down one with the last possession JJ hits a clutch 3 despite missing all his other 3 point attempts on the night. (I have no idea really but I just think that would be cool)

With Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner the 6ers will have a hard time making it into the lottery.

Interesting article about Big Baby's improvement -
Oh ok I see... Then yea probably not.

I know what you mean.. If the Sac front office likes Baby half as much as those commentators did we can expect an offer of Thomas Robinson and a 1st round pick for Baby any minute now. -
3.5 Million for Harrington next year I'm sure will get some looks for a trade, that's not a lot of money for a guy who can contribute off the bench for a contender.

Call me crazy, but I say Magic win by 5. Vucevic rebounds from his average performance against the Jazz and puts up a double-double and at least 2 blocks. That is my prediction. -

Oh... That's why... The sooner Stern retires the better. The guy never did anything when Dwight was shooting a crazy amount of FT's against the Warriors whilst he was wearing a Magic uniform. -
I agree, so far this year I think Jameer has proven he's more than a score first point guard. He's getting a lot of assists and he has been exactly what we need at point... Plus without him we'd have Moore or Ish at the point... that would be disastrous.
-
Those are the two players I'd most compare him to and I believe if he works hard enough he can become that type of guy. I continue to see flashes of good play from Drew, and Harkless as well. I think if both of those guys max their potential we could have an Al Jefferson type player in the front court and an Andre Iguodala type player on the wing... Obviously though players don't always develop the way you think they will so only time will tell.
-
I don't even think he'd fit into our style of play at the moment, although I'm sure Vaughn would have accommodated him. All the same he's certainly not worth 9 million a year.
-
True, but I think that's because a lot of European big men have the face up game and that doesn't translate well when they have to bang around under the basket for rebounds in the NBA, but that's not Gobert's game so I'm confident he'll be a good NBA player. I second the Wiggins comment. I hope Hennigan has the same thought, I heard an analyst describe Wiggins as an athletic Carmelo Anthony and now I can't bare the thought of not seeing him in a Magic uniform, whoever gets him will be very lucky thats for sure.
-
I think Vucevic has the type of game where he could play the 4/5 sort of like Pau Gasol so I would have no problem drafting a Nerlens Noel or Rudy Gobert (Gobert is 7'2 with a 7'9 wingspan I would be really excited if we got him)

For me the Jazz are a big test for Vucevic defensively, with Jefferson and all those guys it will be tough for him. If he plays well again I'd be very impressed. -
New Orlean Hornets change team name....

Got to say, the name sucks but the logo and colours etc look very good. Some of the other entrants were great too. -

Why do I feel like after this season the league will mysteriously implement rules that make it harder to intentionally foul lol -
I say take the best player available. Although I'd like a PG (McCollum lol)

With all those protections it's hard to tell which of those picks is the best, the Thunder's pick from Houston that is guaranteed lotto looks great but let's face it, with Sefolosha, Martin and Lamb they're set at SG. Unless it were a 3 team trade I don't see it. -

I know earlier on we were discussing whether or not Vuc is in our long term plans and I have to say, if he keeps up this level of play he most certainly will be for a long time. Two great games against the Lakers and Warriors. Also I don't have any problem with the Magic drafting around pick 10 this year. They'll have to get worse before they get better and it might be better to do that next offseason rather than kill moral by trading away big contributors while we're playing well.
