Official Game Thread: Magic Vs Trailblazers

I always enjoy the 2nd quarters in these Legends nights. Also that Oladipo cross over and one was pretty sweet. -
I'd be willing to bet that Exum is a top 3 player in this draft in 5 years time whether he's drafted there or not.
-
It's not a matter of sample size or lack of competition. It's a matter of talent. You look for the player with the most talent and potential. I'm not saying draft him just because he's got hype and he's mysterious (like for example Darko). I'm saying if you think he's the most talented player available you draft him, you don't say "well if only we'd seen him play more". Plus it's not like Exum has never set foot on a court against anybody worth a damn, he's played in major international tournaments.
-
This is a ridiculous theory. We're not looking for the player we've seen the most we're looking for the most talented player. This kind of thought process is the reason why players like Raef Lafrentz and Robert Traylor were drafted before Dirk. Or why Tony Parker was the 28th pick. Or why Giannis Antetokounmpo was the 15th pick in this past draft and now people are saying he's got the most potential of anybody.

http://www.draftexpress.com/2013-NBA-Draft-Early-Entry-List.php Here's a list so far of guys who are returning to school or entering the draft as well as everyone who is auto eligible.

Exum has been my favorite (but not necessarily highest ranked) guy for over a year now so at this point if we don't draft him I'll be disappointed so hope Chad is right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2xqmw8NHco Draftexpress', i guess you could say, final breakdown on Marcus Smart. In the accompanying article to this video they alluded to Smart's likeness to Joakim Noah and I think that it isn't much of a stretch to say that Smart could be a PG version of Noah (tough defense, throws himself around, makes a nuisance of himself etc). There are a lot of things I like about his game and his competitiveness ( i really think he's an under rated passer) but I don't really think he's a fit on this roster. That being said I can guarantee that he's going to be one of those players I'll just hate playing against. He's fiery, he's a pest, he makes big plays, he does a ridiculous back flip when his team wins a big game and he flops, he's literally everything you love to hate rolled up into one neat bundle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-ymNs3Bce8 There. Draftexpress have no reason to lie, have watched him play multiple times, keep extensive databases on stats about their prospetcs and there video shows exactly what we've been saying. Also Chad Ford mentioned earlier in the year that there was talk among some NBA scouts about him maybe playing some point in the NBA.

I should have been more clear, my statement was more a comment on his isolation game and breaking down his man one on one.

Stauskas is averaging 5.6 FTA's per game. He can shoot the ball from anywhere, catch and shoot, off the dribble, Pick and roll, dribble hand off etc. Per draftexpress as of February 4th he was the best catch and shoot prospect in draftexpress' database (1.50 PPP) and also the most efficient pick and roll passer in the database (1.19 PPP). He also has a great AST/TO ratio. He finishes pretty well at the rim as well and can get up and dunk a little, underrated athlete in that regard. He's an awful defensive player and he's not the best at creating off the dribble but he easily has the potential to play a JJ type role.

Syracuse... Man what do I know? Haha
-
I'd say similar range as Ennis, probably a little earlier, Ennis may not even declare for the draft though so we'll just wait and see.
-
He'll probably be drafted somewhere between 7 and 12
-
Patric Young has Jason Maxiel written all over him,hes a pretty safe pick for anybody with a pick in the late twenties.
-
Prediction: Jabari Parker will stay in school for another year.
-
Yea and a having Embiid inside with his ability to pass the ball should really help against that Syracuse zone.
-
According to Self he won't play their 1st two games meaning if they get past Eastern Kentucky and then New Mexico/Stanford he might be available for the next game.
-
Yea you have and he's giving you a strong reason to with how he's playing right now.
-
Michigan State have some good prospects. Payne and Harris are both very good (i'd look at Payne with the WoNK) but I'd really like to snag Branden Dawson with a 2nd round pick next draft (or this one if he comes out), he can't shoot at all but he's a 6'6 guy who rebounds like a big and plays great defense.
-
Gordon is incredibly young and raw but he'll stick in the league some way or another. He's too intelligent and athletic not to. He just has no offensive game worth speaking of and he's Andre Drummond bad at shooting FT's.
-
So you're saying had Darko had better coaching (How do you know he didn't have great coaching? I'm willing to bet you don't know any international coaches and just because they're not household names doesn't mean they're not great coaches) he would have been a better player? Even though he played for HOF coach Larry Brown his first two years in the league?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJJQNaKczLY Wiggins is an athletic freak.

Says who?

Yes. The NBA is rigged. That's why the biggest market in the entire NBA hasn't won a championship since 1973 and are 13 games under 500 this season. That's why the Lakers are 22 games under 500. And this season Charlotte are playing great defense, does anyone want to suggest that they're somehow getting superstar calls or that they're a top team? The reason stars leave small markets is because of the failure of those markets to build teams good enough to win a championship or the extra benefits offered by a big market. You don't think Lebron would have loved to stay with his home town Cavs his entire career? He left because he was tired of carrying a team on his own with no help. The big market teams that play under the bright lights will always have an advantage. The Lakers and the Celtics are big markets and have winning pedigrees, it stands to reason that players would want to play there. That's just how it is. That's why I laugh when people say the league will fix the lottery for them. First, because even if one of those 2 teams does get a top 3 pick it will be dubbed a "fix" even though it could easily happen. Second, because the league would honestly probably prefer they didn't get a top 3 pick so that everyone didn't go around thinking it was a fix. And third because teams like the Celtics and Lakers (more so the Lakers i guess) have the ability to rebuild their teams without a top 3 draft pick through free agency and trades. It's pretty much a given that the Lakers will get a top free agent in the next couple of years (Kevin Love) so the league don't need to help them rebuild.
