He's averaging 8-10 points per game playing 20 mins per game in the second best basketball league in the world. I concede he's pretty thin and lightweight right now though.

Maybe SVG did have a decent rotation year after year. But that doesn't change the fact that saying Jacque has had 880+ days to work out a rotation is incorrect.

Still think Porzingis is a perfect pick for us if we do manage to get some lottery luck. He can shoot from the perimeter, off the dribble, and out of the post, he's athletic, he's long (7'0 at least) and he alters shots at the rim (blocks 1.3 shots a game in about 20 mins). He also has potential to be a decent perimeter defensive player who can hedge high and recover and even switch out onto less quick wings (most of his defensive troubles currently are his lack of bulk and being out of position). At very worst he's a legit 7 footer who can make open jump shots. Best case he's maybe a Chris Bosh type player. The only reason I like him more than Towns for this team is that i think Towns is more of a center whereas Porzingis can probably be a full time 4.

Erm... what? A rotation isn't something you just figure out when you arrive and keep the same for the next however many years you coach. There are exactly 4 guys on the roster who were here at the start of Jacque's first season. (Harkless, Nicholson, KOQ and Vucevic) At the time KOQ fouled too much to see the floor for very long and harkless had a hernia operation that kept him out the beginning of the season. We traded for Tobias later on to make it 5 guys. The season after that there were 6 guys on the roster who are on the roster now (those previously mentioned and Oladipo). Dedmon was later added to make it 7. This season we have added another 8 new guys (by my quick count- Frye, Ridnour, Green, Gordon, Gordon, Marble, Payton and Fournier). Jacque hasn't had 880+ days to work out a rotation. He's had this season. And with 8 new players, 3 of whom are rookies is it any surprise he's having trouble really?

Fun facts: Channing Frye played only 18 minutes last night (hardly over reliance) Victor Oladipo, Nik Vucevic and Tobias Harris where the only guys with a positive +/- (+/- is hardly perfect but this at least suggests Oladipo wasn't some god awful PG who ruined the game as some people are suggesting) Elfrid Payton shot 0-7 from the field and was blocked at the rim 3 times. Also how can people complain about rotations now? Here is the minutes distribution for last night Dipo 39 Harris 38 Vuc 37 Payton 35 Fournier 27 KOQ 26 Frye 18 Everybody else less than 10 minutes That is EXACTLY the rotation everybody here has been asking for. More minutes for Kyle and Elf and less for Frye. Not playing Willie Green. Not playing Ben Gordon major minutes. There are A LOT of issues with last nights game. The rotation is not one of them.

Oladipo had 27 points in the Golden State game... What are you talking about?!
  7. CTMagicUK

What happened to the Magic from earlier this season?

Payton couldn't score tonight. Would you like to know how effective a PG is when he isn't a threat to score? Not very. I mean Payton legitimately passed on a wide open layup to pass the ball to Kyle O Quinn at the top of the key... Wut? Please stop acting like keeping Elfrid at the point was some magic recipe that would have won us the game. Victor was very good at times tonight on both ends. Aaron Gordon played 15 minutes a game when he was healthy. Let's not act like he'll come back and miraculously turn us into a legit team. He's a 19 year old who'll have just come back from surgery.

Let's ride the tank train all the way to one of Okafor/Towns/Porzingis.

Love it, probably our best defensive unit starts AND Victor starts at SG.

Don't take anything from it. The other week after a horrible game by Willie Green coach defended him in the post game conference... He hasn't played since though.

I'd just like more defensive energy. Do basic stuff like help on box outs when a big goes over to contest, step up and take a charge (which nobody on our team ever does -credit to magicblue for making me realize that one), bring help defense, fight through screens, communicate with each other Basically I just don't want to see wide open dunks at the rim and 5 guys looking around like "who's fault was that?" If you do all that stuff then suddenly Frye being a terrible defensive player isn't as big of a deal, because he's not on an island defending his man alone he's part of 5 guys working together to get stops. The Bulls are a great defensive team and they have Mike Dunleavy and Pau Gasol in and around they're starting lineup.

    Nice GT. Must win game.

Are we better without Victor Oladipo?

The way Jimmy Butler is playing this season is the type of player that I hope Victor develops into.

    Jacque Vaughn Thread

My biggest gripe with Vaughn is the pace we play. This was supposed to be the year we would run and gun and instead we're in the bottom half of the league in pace again. I mean, we have Oladipo, Payton, Harris, Harkless, Fournier and (when he's healthy) AG who are all guys who can do a serious amount of damage as ball handlers and finishers in the fast break. Then on top of that Dedmon is a guy who runs end to end really quickly and you can throw lobs too, Vuc is a guy who can get up and down and can finish and has great hands, Channing Frye has practically made a living on that trailing 3 pointer.... So why on earth do we stroll up and down the court?! I can deal with the rotations and the playing guys out of position etc, you can attribute that to development easily enough (whether you believe it can help develop or not... it seems like a lot of people on here don't) but given the fact that we're a team tailor made to run, that our half court offense isn't anything special and that Vaughn said before the season that he wanted to run more, why on earth do we take 8-10 seconds per possession setting up a play that usually ends up as a 1-4 pick and roll?! It really baffles me.

    Official 2015 Draft Thread

That's true, I'm just worried about lack of minutes for him and also that he could end up being very similar to AG given that they're virtually the same size and weight... He's definitely more of a legitimate 4 than AG though. I could maybe see him becoming like a Taj Gibson which would obviously be great for this team. Like I say, I like him a lot and I probably wouldn't take your bet either.

    Official 2015 Draft Thread

Looney in a nutshell is defense, effort and rebounding. Sounds like a player Hennigan would draft. How many forwards does this team need though? Still think RJ Hunter would be a nice pick for us. His 3 point percentage looks unspectacular until you realize he takes 10 a game and a lot of them are off the dribble or from WAY down town (or both). He's not great at staying in front of his man but his size and length helps him get deflections and rebounds and such. Last year he lead his conference (same one EP was in) in win shares . In the NBA, with more space and less attention he could really fill it up. I also don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for Rob to pick a guy who has unlimited 3 point range given the contracts he gave to Frye and Gordon, and I think a guy like RJ who is a threat running through screens and can maybe play like a Korver-ish role could really help our offense. Of course he plays for his dad at Georgia State so he's likely a four year prospect and this is all a moot point.

Is that from last year to this year? Because you're ignoring a lot of other moves if so.

Yea bash Frye on defense and rebounding all you like (although I thought he played great D on Millsap in the home and home with Atlanta) but he's important to our offense.

I went to look at a draft board to see who I thought would be picked above him and you're right it's probably that I don't want him to be. There are probably only 4 guys I'd pick above him right now.
