This is why I like the AG pick. It says that Rob is going to pick his favorite guy regardless of the fact that most "analysts" think it's a bit of a reach. OKC do it too. When they picked Westbrook it was a bit of a reach at the time and recently they've been drafting projected 2nd round guys at the end of the first.

    Welcome Home Coach Scott Skiles!

This is almost entirely off topic (since I don't think he would come here at all) but I was listening to the latest Zach Lowe podcast and I think its insane that Shane Battier either doesn't want to be a coach or can't get a coaching gig. Like why haven't Miami offered him an assistant coaching job? or Coach K? He's everything you could want from a modern coach, intelligent, well spoken, great playing experience, open to the use of analytics. Back on topic: It's Monday night and we haven't heard about Borrego yet.

Ever since that post where I tried to find players who fit P4TW's under 10 ppg and successful in the nba criteria I haven't been able to shake the comparison in my mind of WCS and Kenyon Martin. I'm not even sure it's a good comparison but the connection is there in my mind now.

Something I love about Porzingis is the crazy lineups you can run with him. Payton Dipo Fournier Tobias Porzingis That's obviously a situational lineup against a team going small or something but it has a lot of potential offensively. It spreads the defense out and opens things up for Dipo and Payton. Alternatively you could run Porzingis at the 4 and Frye at the 5 in certain lineups and then you really put strain on the opposing teams ability to help. Plus Porzingis, unlike Frye, actually has some ability as a finisher on the pick and roll so double screens and horns sets with the two of them (or even with Vuc in place of Frye) could be really difficult to guard with the threat of the ball handler, the roll or the pop. It's just interesting the sets you can design when you have a 7 footer who can shoot off screens, catch and shoot and both pop and roll.

Lebron was on the wrong side of awful officiating here in OT. What is the league coming to when Lebron can't get the right call? Lol

Point being if you just assume guys are going to improve at all their weaknesses you can draft anybody at 5 it won't matter.

I don't know too much about him really. I've heard he's a crafty scorer type. Considering he's a more decorated college player than those other two I'd have to imagine we actually have a hope for him maybe making camp whereas the other 2 seem like guys to make the numbers up at summer league.

I'm sure I posted a couple of days back about this but I can't find it now? Anyway so far I've heard (from twitter) we've interviewed or worked out: Kameron Woods from Butler Marcus Tarrance from Middle Tennessee State Wesley Saunders from Harvard Essentially just 3 guys who'll probably go undrafted.

    Welcome Home Coach Scott Skiles!

Well apparently Skiles gave JB until Monday to decide whether he wants to stay on as an assistant so we should start to figure out the rest of the staff pretty soon I'd think.

I'm not a huge Pelton fan but I can see where he would come up with that analysis. About 60% of Mario's total field goals are 3 point shots.

Too much iso ball for Cavs. Lebron must have had like 40 isolation possessions that game.

Oh right my bad... 4 stats. All of which are calculated using the same data set. I'm not even arguing Frye over Davis or Davis over Frye, I honestly don't think Davis is that great but you're challenging people to read how the stats are compiled etc and understand the stats and I understand them just fine and disagree.(EDIT:) with how you tried to use it like it was definitive proof.

But you JUST posted the stat on it's own to try and say Davis was a worse rim protector than Frye.

    Official 2015 Draft Thread

Numbers can say whatever you want them to.I tend to find that if a (simple) statistic doesn't accurately support what I see with my eyes (when it comes to basketball) then there is an inherent flaw in how it's calculated. Correlation does not imply causation. Just because Frye has a better Rim FG% (by all of 2% by the way) allowed doesn't mean that Frye is a better rim protector. That stat is influenced by a whole load of stuff that is beyond the scope of simple numbers. Who they're playing against, the system they're in, what counts as a contest? Like when I see two or three guys go up and challenge do they all get the contest or just the guy originally guarding the player? The system is flawed either way because if they all get the contest then how do you determine who's contest was the one that made the guy miss thus you're reducing all 3 guys at rim % because of the play of their teammates. And if it's just one guy who gets the contest then again, he gets credit for the effort of other players. It could be noted that Davis had a much much lower rim FG% allowed the previous year when he played for Memphis.

On the Porzingis weight stuff: Rudy Gobert was described as light weight, lacking strength, offers little resistance when pushed around... All that stuff. Now he's a beast.
