This is just messed up. Why on earth would you set your players against each other like that?

This is not exactly a great way to think in my opinion and I don't think it's how Henny thinks. I think like this: if a team wants to win a title in the next half a decade or more they'll more than likely have to be able to beat GS. You're not going to do that by playing them at their own game with small ball and 3 point shooting. You have to find ways to combat that. Personally, I think 2 athletic, good defensive, guards and a low post center seem like a decent place to start if you're building a roster to beat Golden State.

AG averaged 12/8/2/1/1 (pts/rebs/ast/stl/blk) as an 18 year old freshman on top of being the best defensive player in the NCAA that year. His upside is much higher than WCS as far as I'm concerned. Especially now that it looks like his free throw shooting is not all time terrible.

So Porzingis had a private workout with the Lakers. At this point he may not even make it to us. Also we have not worked out Stanley Johnson apparently.

I'd be surprised if he's there at 8.

I had that post as Booker/Oubre originally but they really need the shooting so I figured Booker makes more sense.

Booker is a pretty safe bet there.

If Russell is there at 3 and they don't take him I'd be really surprised. After that I think Porzingis is a real possibility for them.

Supposedly highly regarded. Tied for 2nd among GMs who were asked for the best assistant coach in the league (1st was Gentry) and he's interviewed for 3 HC positions in the previous 2 offseasons. Also been described as a "player friendly Thibs" and was specifically credited by Jimmy Butler as a reason for his improvement. This is a home run hire as far as I'm concerned.

So Embiid may be out all next year...glad we don't have that stuff to worry about.

The lack of news about who we've worked out is eerily quiet. Was it this quiet last year? I seem to remember a few more names out there than just 2 prospects (Winslow and WCS) and a bunch of undrafted guys. Either we've tightened up our leaks (most likely) or we're already set on drafting one of the guys who isn't doing workouts (that'd be between Hezonja or Porzingis unless Okafor or Towns fell).

George Lucas and Timothe Luwawu are the two biggest name players who withdrew from the draft. Both were late first to mid 2nd round guys.

I wouldn't say you got flamed. Nobody insulted you. People disagreed with you, which is the very purpose of a forum - discussion etc. That being said I thought it was a bad idea then and I think its a bad idea now to offer Carroll the max. Much rather pay that money to Tobias who has a lot more room to grow and isn't at risk of having his efficiency numbers decline by beino forced into a greater role offensively.

I don't think anyone has described him as an elite athlete.

Porzingis is athletic. I really don't know how you can have seen him play and not see that.

Pretty sure it was Larry Bird who made the $100 million comment about WCS.

Still riding the Porzingis train. I like (Miami) Chris Bosh as a high end, but not too high end that we're comparing him to an all time great, comparison, he's got a good chance of being a better 3 point shooter than Bosh though.

Yea I think the not too young may be a suggestion that we're looking to add some decent free agent vets rather than saying we don't want to draft a 19 year old.
