jack daniel 999 27 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 No. 3 Magic vs. No. 6 Raptors The Magic, who won the season series 2-1, raced to a 14-3 start and never looked back on the way to their best record in a dozen years. New coach Stan Van Gundy got them on track defensively around budding All-Star center Dwight Howard, while incorporating free agent/hired gun Rashard Lewis and leaning on versatile most improved player candidate Hedo Turkoglu. They rely on that trio of players while struggling with consistency at point guard between Jameer Nelson and Carlos Arroyo. The Raptors have been a disappointment this season after winning the Atlantic Division a year ago. Injuries have played a pivotal role, with All-Star forward Chris Bosh in and out of the lineup, Jorge Garbajosa on the shelf, and starting point guard T.J. Ford suffering a traumatic spinal injury before returning. In his absence, Jose Calderon was frequently brilliant at point guard, but the team has relied too heavily on 3-point shooting all season. Second-year forward Andrea Bargnani never really hit his stride after a great rookie season, but they did get a surprise addition with journeyman Jamario Moon. The Raptors are dangerous shooters, and are capable of giving the erratic Magic a run for the money.
