That game was in late 04 and his first 30 point game since 2000. That's all need said bout his career with the Magic.

he averaged almost 20 ppg that season...

I think we can separate "grant hill the contract albatross that prevented us from fielding a competitive roster and wasted the career of a MVP candidate" from Grant Hill the guy who was an all star and still managed to put up 16 ppg in the 200 games he played in a magic uniform despite often playing with an ankle that pretty much wanted to secede from his body.

Yeah, that makes him good for about top 12-15 all-time Magic player. Not to be confused with top 5 or even 10. Nick, Rashard, Hedo, DA, Nick, Ho Grant and Jameer all contributed more to the Magic organization on the court than Hill, and that's not even factoring in that albatross contract you mentioned.

anyone else feel like we have a disproportionate amount of high variation players compared to the rest of the league? Feels like we have 7 guys who could be anywhere from "third best player on a great team" to "you're good if he's your 6th or 7th man but cant count on him to be a starter".

Sacramento has a roster full of "you have a pretty good idea of who they are, lets see if they can put it together" players. Their question marks are mostly delayed to the future but this season they are just sit and learn guys.

Denver is pretty close to what we have.

Phoenix is mostly "you know what you're getting" guys

we have Gordon who might be our best player, might be a complimentary guy this year. we have hezonja who might end up starting or might be a bench guy. we have payton who might take the next step or might be basically who he is already. we have Fournier who was at some point a 20ppg guy last year and other times an 11 ppg guy. we have Ibaka who might be an all star who was hampered by low usage or he might be in an ongoing career decline. we have biyombo who might be progressing into a deandre Jordan/Rudy Gobert type center or he might have just had a good stretch of games.

This is why I don't get upset when experts rank our offseason as really bad, or they can't understand at all what we're doing. When people expect Orlando to suck this year, I totally understand. I'm hopeful that we will make the playoffs, be a competitive team. But when what we have is so many questions, it's hard to expect anyone to see all of that stuff coming together at once.
