Keeping Shaq would've been the obvious one. What was the max length contract we could do in 96? If we kept him into the early 2000s we'd definitely go to multiple finals.

 

It's a real travesty that a penny-Anderson-Scott-hill-shaq team never won a championship.

I would change it so the ref calls basket interference from Pau Gasol in game 1 of the finals when Lee missed the layup.

 

I would then change Hedo and Dwights missed free throws in game 4.

 

Also not break up the finals team and give it 1 last go before we did.

Sure, a player who actually played would be better than hill. But what if no hill means no McGrady?

I meant our replacing Goukas with a better coach than Brian Hill. Hopefully someone who, combined with not lowballing him, could inspire Shaq to resign in addition to avoiding the player mutiny, etc.

 

I also seriously considered going with our keeping Webber rather than trading for Penny. As great as Penny could have been had he stayed healthy, that could have made for an interesting team.
