There's no arguing with the results. With his perfect shooting night in Houston, Howard became the first NBA player to combine 30 or more points and 15 or more rebounds without missing a field goal (minimum 10 attempts) since Wilt Chamberlain did it on March 11, 1969.

When only you and Wilt Chamberlain have done something?

That's worth sitting back and appreciating.

especially when you compare eras

Wilt played in an era of Aaron Grey's and Luke Harangody (spelling?) playing Center.

Dwight might not play in the hakeem/ewing/shaq era of great big men, but it's definitely impressive.

We can add another to the "Dwight has accomplished more by the age of 24 than Shaq" argument.

So true. It may have been a different era but Wilt was the Babe Ruth of the NBA. I'm old enough to remember his 100 point game (which was even more incredible because the Knicks fouled him purposely to make the 51% free throw shooter get his points). Besides the fact that he averaged 30 points and 23 rebounds a game for his career, he came into the NBA as a defensive player. Since blocked shots were not a statistic during his era, a lot of people don't know what a force he was. Maybe this link will help. Enjoy.

If the rest of the team around him would just remember to always give him the ball in the post and let him make the decisions on running the team as far as passing and scoring out of the post this team would be completely unstoppable.

I always have said that for Dwight to grow in to the player he is going to be, we have to force him to do the things we want him to be good at. i.e. Jump Shots, Scoring in the 4th quarter, making decisions with the ball in his hands.

Same goes for playing Howard and Gortat together. If we force it it would come around. It would be completely be lock down defense and the offense would come around. Maybe next year if we hold on to Gortat.

You know that is a great video and comparison to Dwight. What would be a nice little project for someone would be to show a wilt block then a dwight block that look like it and then do it for the entire video.
