A year ago, if someone had suggested that trade, I'd likely have questioned their intelligence, openly mocked them, put them on my ignore list for wasting my time, or some combination of the 3.

 

The reasoning for that is complicated, but "That trade makes no sense because Rafer Alston isn't on our team" covers most of it.

Of course you do realize that since this is after the fact, that it's going to sway pretty heavy towards, the "jumped all over it".

I absolutely would have taken this deal, especially knowing what I know now about the players involved. Alston was not essential since we have Jameer. I really liked Battie but we got an upgrade and youth in Bass. Sure losing Lee hurts but we swapped a talented young 2 for a talented young 4 so that is almost a push. And getting Vince over Turk gives us a huge edge and thats before you even factor in their contracts. Add in the trade exception which gives us a great insurance policy and the ability to add a player despite our cap situation and we make out big time.
