7 SECONDS TO GO

Recommended Posts

I am just an amateur player coach in a county league, but we come in 1st or second every season. We have some unusual theories that have helped us win games that I see being lost in the pros every day.

The theory-you can't make the game winning shot if you don't have the ball.

The solution... it's tied at 94 and with just 7 seconds left to play so you foul the guy that just missed 2 free throws. Worst case scenario he makes them both and you are down 2... with the ball and 7 seconds to shoot.

The play- the shooter misses the 1st one and makes the 2nd... down 1 with 7 seconds and the ball. Your point guard rushes up the floor slightly behind the rest of the team who sets up to crash the boards. With 2.9 on the clock your athletic 6'10 center enters the paint with facing the basket as if preparing to rebound. At 2 seconds your point guard goes up as if to shoot a long 3 but in reality shoots it intentionally short. Your center knowing this is going to happen pivots and catches the ball as it arrives and continues his pivot and leaps out of the building for a monster game winning dunk and a foul! Since he has been shooting free throws great all night he's due for a miss... and does. You are up by 1 with 1.6 on the clock. The other team inbounds and heaves and comes up 4 feet short... you win by 1!!!! Thoughts????

And then we have threads created as to why Dwight got called for 3 seconds with less than 2 seconds on the clock in a game winning situation
