NBA.com: Ranking the offseason moves: Nos. 1-30

Recommended Posts

16) ORLANDO MAGIC

2007-08 RECORD: 52-30, first place, Southeast, lost in second round

KEY ACQUISITIONS: G Courtney Lee (22nd pick, first round), G Mickael Pietrus (UFA, Golden State), G Anthony Johnson (UFA, Sacramento)

KEY RE-SIGNINGS: C Adonal Foyle

KEY LOSSES: G Carlos Arroyo (UFA, Maccabi Tel-Aviv), G Keyon Dooling (traded to New Jersey), G-F Maurice Evans (UFA, signed with Atlanta)

PROJECTION: If Western Kentucky's Lee can ultimately do for the Magic what Eastern Washington's Rodney Stuckey did for Detroit last season, Orlando GM Otis Smith will be more than pleased; shooting guard has been an unsolvable problem for the Magic for a couple of seasons. But Lee won't be under the gun right away after Orlando gave $25 million to the veteran Pietrus.

He should help a starting unit that looks rock solid, with Jameer Nelson, Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis and Dwight Howard. But Orlando's bench doesn't strike fear into the hearts of many, which precipitated the signing of journeyman point guard Johnson to back up the oft-injured Nelson.

And how Howard holds up after a summer with the U.S. Olympic team will be Topic A in the Land of the Mouse all season.

I think CLEE can pull it off, and have a season similar, or even better than Stuckey had last season. Only if Lee can play the 1 and 2 position.

meh...could have been worse, considering that people have been underrating the Magic and their moves this whole off season it seems. I am just hoping we explode and get like 60 or so wins...there are a lot of guys that have us only winning around 40 games this season, horrible...we'll show them...
