  1. Let's not forget that his grumpy behind would still be getting paid some $20 mil to be heckeled..... and at the end of the day, we would be hurt, more so by his being on the team and taking away the focus from the development of the young guys that we drafted and the posibble incoming 1st rounders from Houston!

I think our kids would have something to prove, and I hope they would try to make us forget Dwight Howard as quickly as possible!

I like the chip O'Quinn already has for being a 2nd round pick!!!!

Yeah, I'm by no means saying we should do this. I was just saying it's possible(as far as I know, but I could be wrong because that other dude is saying I am). The best scenario would be to get him the hell out of here before the season starts. Hopefully we can still get something decent from Houston and we can watch a bunch of young players that are just excited to be a part on any team in the NBA.

  2. What are you talking about?

Sitting Dwight doesn't mean for him to travel with the team or even come to our facilities.

It means Dwight can go where he wants, even to NBA games where he could sit court side and watch the game as a spectator.

Dwight will not be able to use the NBA. No training, No weight room, No trainers, No Access to other NBA perks.

Why not? There are players on every team that don't ever play but they still have to travel with the team or they don't get paid right? I'm confused(not the first time and it won't be the last).

  3. you're probably right ... but, what if his minutes are shortened? getting playing time when it really isn't meaningful? it'd probably be the same, huh?

We'd(yeah I said we for everyone who hates when fans do that, I buy merch and go to some games so I'm part of the team) probably look less petty that way, but people would catch to what we're doing. We could say his minutes are being limited to give more time to the young guys since Dwight won't be here the next season anyways. We'd still have headlines like, "The Magic are trolling Dwight by giving him 10 minutes a game."

  4. question for the knowledgeable: for the purpose of improving our possibilities of a high first round pick, is it doable to sit HIM? I mean, couldn't it work against us? cause if it doesn't, heck! I would be all for it ... I think it would be a hard slap on that childish, silly face of HIS ... kiss-off ...

There is nothing in the NBA rules that says we have to play him, but do you really think that's realistic? It would be a circus, he'd start refusing to come to the arena, he would be fined, and the media would work it up into a frenzy. It would be pretty hilarious to watch him get booed at every intro then have to take a seat on the bench for 2 and a half hours, but I don't see it happening. We'd look pretty petty for doing it; it would be better to take the high road and not stoop to Dwight's childish level.

  5. We dont have any valuable pieces on our team?

Rather believe from the horses mouth than "sources"

Dwight could tell you anything he wants, that doesn't make it true. I'd trust many sources in the media before I'd trust something coming out of the horse's mouth(or horse's ass in this case). I understand that you're just relaying what he tells you, but do you honestly trust that everything he tells you is true and he's not just spinning every situation to try to make himself look better?

  6. Patience is not a virtue dwight has. You can't expect Rob to come up with a master plan 6 weeks into the job. Dwight's asking for the impossible so then he can say "see they didn't do anything" when clearly he's twisting Rob's arm. This is all a show to me.

Seems to me YaBoyR is posting false info. He says Rob didn't bring up a plan for him to listen to, but every other report says that Dwight wouldn't listen to any plans that Rob has for the team because he has no intentions of staying in Orlando no matter what moves we would make.

  7. Yeah he's not being patient at all about this. They'd be able to add guys next summer but he wants help for this season

Of course he isn't being patient. He had no intentions of staying in Orlando no matter who we would add. He doesn't want help in Orlando, he wants out. I'm not sure why you even post on this board, you seem to be more of a Dwight fan than a Magic fan and you seem completely oblivious to Dwight's intentions.

  8. Nope. Rob got cold feet because he is a coward. HWNSNBU got to him. Rob and his 30 yr old mind has decided to let Dwight walk next summer, instead of get a nice package now from houston. What . a . coward.

doesnt matter, basketball doesnt seem to be too big in orlando anyways, you guys could care less if dwight walks

    unreal

and oh, rocket fans will be enjoying our rookies this year(btw, lamb will be in the running for roy) and you guys will watch your superstar leave to nets for a injury prone maxed out 6rebs/gm lopez or even worse watch dwight walk to dallas

    either way, you are SCREWED

all because rob is fegans little *****

The phrase is couldn't care less stupid head.

  9. One way or the other i just wish this would end. Stating that open is "open" to playing in Orlando next year is irrelevant because it's not up him. For one as some one stated earlier he's under contact and secondy i doubt the magic keep him with out a change of heart and a commitment. Who cares what howard wants

Just close your eyes and strap in, it won't last forever. I think most of us want it to end in a way, but I think we can all agree if taking our time ends up helping the franchise we should do it. Patience is a virtue.

  10. He hasnt come out to deny any rumor whether theyre true or false. Rob knows what Dwight's thinking. He meant to opt in but he was upset about the Magic not standing up for him after what Stan said back in April

I never asked you to believe me, whoever you are

Um... the Magic did deny what Stan said.

Dwight Howard did not ask Magic general manager Otis Smith to fire coach Stan Van Gundy, Smith told ESPN's Lisa Salters on Saturday before the Magic's 88-82 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

  11. If Rob even acquired ONE of the players on his wishlist it probably would be enough to convince him to stay. Theres not much Rob can 'say' that could convince him but theres things he can 'do' that can

What does 'convince him to stay' mean? He already said he won't sign an extension with any team(which makes sense considering he makes more guaranteed money if he becomes a free agent first). I don't see the front office/ownership taking him at his word that he'll re-up next offseason in the event we get him someone on his wishlist.

  12. Im not sure the relationship they have, adding Ellis would help, actions not words lol

Im not defending him, just telling how he looks at it. If Dwight was dead set on leaving Rob would have traded him to Houston weeks ago. The fact that he and Rob have been talking constanly these last 3 weeks should let people know that Orlando's preference is to keep him rather than trade him.

And they didnt trick him into opting in, he slept on it and decided to opt in the next day. You guys believe everything you hear and read in the media

Well Dwight could have come out and said the reports of him saying he was duped into waiving his ETO were false. He didn't do that though, he just said he never used the word blackmail(he probably used the word extortion).

  13. Idk, I doubt we would just go out their without anything to entice Dwight to stay... I doubt a "new marketing scheme" will do it either.

Even if we hypothetically did have something that would entice Howard to stay it seems like he still wouldn't sign an extension because he can make more guaranteed money by becoming a free agent first. I don't think I could see us going past the trade deadline with him on the roster without an extension signed.
