I don't care how the trade was viewed at the time by armchair GMs. What matters is what you get out of it long term, especially for a team like us that has no illusions about contending right now. When you get draft picks and young talent it is pretty stupid to make all your judgements about a trade right away. I guess we should have just swapped for Bynum since his value seemed to be high at the time. I guess it's more important what the media thinks about the trade than Hennigan actually evaluating future potential and doing his job. Perception doesn't equal reality. It's not like we were getting any other great trade offers, it was probably about the best we could do under the circumstances. I'm just glad that Vuc looks like he will be a nice piece for us; it's something to be positive about to me. Continue to spew unending negativity getting drunk on your own misery though, that's what you do apparently.

That doesn't make any sense, especially for a rebuilding team. Hennigan knew he had more value than people thought, or at least that's the way it seems.

Vuceivic is now 7th in the league in rebounding. He should crack the top 5 if he continues on this pace.

Agreed, bringing Gortat back sounds like something Otis would do. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Magic again, but the price will likely be too high. Other teams will probably offer quite a bit for him I think.

The team still pays him, but his salary doesn't count against the salary cap since we amnestied him. You pretty much subtract his salary to get our working payroll.

Yeah, that one definitely includes the Arenas salary, it's right there to the left showing he's the 4th highest paid player in the NBA even though he plays in China.

I think that's if you include Arenas' amnestied salary.

Great post, I feel the same way. Dwight parting ways with the Magic was really the best thing for both parties. We weren't ever going to win a ship with Dwight as our best player.

Any word on the opening night starting lineup?
