Thoughts on bringing in Treveon Graham and Arinze Onuaku, from Summer League, to fill out the roster?
-
With how young and athletic our team is, why is it we're 26th in the NBA at free throw attempts? You think of all these games we've lost by a couple points, and the FT disparity between us and our opponents. We could possibly be undefeated had we gone to the line as often as our opponents. So why the disparity? Just not getting calls? A fear of driving in the lane?

Comparing Winslow to Stanley Johnson and Kelly Oubre, he was shorter than both without shoes, but basically equal height with shoes. He has a longer standing reach than both of them, larger hands, but shorter wingspan. They are all projected as SFs also. I think Winslow will be fine as SF. He's a defensive minded buy who is going to be versatile enough do defend the 1-3 positions. Teams like versatile players

I would be perfectly fine drafting both of them in rounds 1 and 2

If we get Thibodeau, that could increase the likeliness of a upper tier FA coming to our team. Some players just want to play with certain coaches, and Thibs has a good track record

Just a Payton update. Since the beginning of the year, in games Payton has logged over 30 minutes of play, his averages are as follows: Pts: 10.8 FG%: 45.8 FT%: 59.5% REB: 4.7 AST: 7.3 STL: 1.8 TO: 2.4 Overall season averages: Pts: 7.9 FG%: 41.5 FT%: 54.2 REB: 3.9 AST: 5.9 STL: 1.5 TO: 2.4 Really like what the kid is bringing to the team. He's progressively improved across the board, and I really love his 3:1 assist to turnover ratio since the beginning of the year (in games with over 30 minutes). If he keeps on working, we'll have a solid PG for years to come -

Payton's stat averages over the last seven games Pts: 10.1 FG%: 54% Reb: 6 Ast: 6.7 Stl: 2 TO: 2 Almost a 3.5:1 assist to turnover ratio, and he's dropping the ball in the bucket. Just wanted to point out this positive. :D -

When Payton gains more confidence in his scoring abilities and scoring in the paint, he's gonna be something nice! -

I like EP. Gary Payton was GP and The Glove, so Elfrid can be EP for now -
http://www.nba.com/magic/denton-training-camp-defense-priority-093014 So basically we're going to try and be the Seattle Seahawks on the NBA. I could live with that. And we can have "The 6th Man" in the Amway Center :gold_cup:

I'd like one of them also, but the question is: do they want to play here? Orlando isn't necessarily a big market city and we aren't a playoff caliber team who can go in and win a championship if one of them comes here immediately. So it would take some convincing to get one of teh top stars to come to Orlando. But we can always hope!

Speaking of draft picks, if we look at our roster, what would yo anticipate being a "need" position come next years draft. Personally, I see PG, SG and C locked up with Payton, Oladipo and Vuc. So, for me, it's more of SF and PF, depending on how Tobias Harris plays and what position he plays

I think Marble has a good chance to make the team seeing as he's a shooter and that's something we are in shorter supply of. Personally, if Gordon doesn't develop this season as a #4 pick should, I could see him going down to the D-League to get more minutes and work on his offensive skills against lower competition. Not sure if a lottery pick in the top 5 has ever been to the D-League in year one, but Gordon is just that far away in terms of contributing against NBA players at this point, in my opinion

Which players, who were trying to earn a roster spot in either Summer League, would you like us to sign? 1. Patric Young - really wanted us to bring him to our summer league team, but he went to the Pelicans and played well. Averaged 9.7 points, 8 rebounds and a block in 26 minutes of play. Had good energy out there. Really liked his hustle. Could be an off the bench defensive, blue collar 4-5 for us 2. Seth Curry - as we saw, kid just makes shots. If we needed a 3-point shooter, here's one available. He's the size of a point guard but doesn't necessarily have the PG skills, but coming off the bench with someone like Oladipo handling the ball could work out. 3. Justin Holiday - brother of Jrue Holiday. Kid is a scorer, plus a very good defender. He is a shooting guard tho, at 6'6, and I think we're pretty much stacked there with Oladipo, Green and Gordon. Can he defend small forwards??

Blake Griffin actually had these Summer League numbers as a rookie: PTS: 19.2 FG%: 50% REB: 10.8 AST: 3.2 STL: 1 BLK: 0.4 Our boy Aaron Gordon had: PTS: 7.8 FG%: 35% REB: 5 AST: 1.2 STL: 0 BLK: 0.4 Just comparing them, you're right, he's definitely not like Blake Griffin. I'm really surprised that Gordon had zero steals in the five games he played considering his defensive abilities. As far as offensively, if he is on the court with at the end of a game with the game winning shot needing to be taken, Gordon would be the absolute last option to take the shot at this point. He's a project offensively. Hopefully his defensive capabilities far exceed his lack of any real offensive game
