  1. There are only two scenarios I see Redick being traded.

    1) Situation where we get multiple unprotected picks. Then we do what Houston did, try to stockpile and make a good move.

    2) Way Afflalo was dealt. Multi-team trade where a tier 2 star is involved and you need a 3rd team to offer managable contracts.

Because who is going to take him? A winning team with worthless draft picks? Not worth our time or a team in the same position as us?

  2. Blaming Ayon's hand injury when it's his feet that are trapped in cinder blocks is a weak justification of his poor play. He's terrible. The only reason we could be keeping him out on the court is to showcase him. But it's like show casing an old Honda Civic. What's the point?

Don't entirely agree. New system and you lose reps with injuries. Secondly, if protecting your thumb is always on your mind, it will effect the rest of your play. Ayon isn't a bad player. He was solid for New Orleans last year and had a real good start to the pre-season. Let him get healthy before we judge.

  3. Ayon will be fine when his hand heals. Honestly, the pre-season and the way he played for New Orleans last year >>> 4 game sample size with busted thumb. Vaughn should've held him out longer but it is what it is.

Jameer coming back will help. We need some offense since apparently we've decided Redick is just a spot shooter again.

In other news, Josh McRoberts needs to be benched, forever. He is absolutely useless. We haven't even been competitive in the games he's started.

  4. Just watched highlights from the Indiana game last year where JJ had nine assists. Man, if Dwight would have just bought in to playing team basketball, he and JJ would be tearing it up right now. Of course, we would be stuck with JRich and Duhon still...

Stan created this situation when he put Redick back on the bench after Richardson came back from his injury. Same w/ Hedo.

  5. And you're still an 8 seed AT BEST and that's the problem.

Didn't H&H just miss the playoffs and then we were a David Robinson intervention away from Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, and Tracy McGrady.

If we get the 8 seed this year, I think the playoff experience you'd get guys like Moe and Andrew and Vucevic (especially Moe and Nik) would be so much more valuable than a lottery pick (even if it's one of the top 2).

I believe in the two pieces we got and the cap space we'll have to maybe add a star if those two develop. Play hard, play to win. Let's try and get some big game experience for our young guys.

Plus, a young coach who brought what was supposed to be a rag-tag team to the playoffs, that'd be quite the free agent pull.

  6. I've seen hustle out there but it's certainly not one of the bigger reasons we've won these past two games. People tend to attribute hustle to key wins when it's a collective effort (no definitive player of the game). Truth is, there's a decent amount of talent on this team that gels very well together.

I like to think poise had more to do with last night's win than any kind of hustle. Hustle doesn't get you out of a double-digit deficit; focus does.

Hustle doesn't produce a 40 point quarter, talent does.

  7. There's a few that believed had he stayed another year, he would've been a top 5 pick in this coming draft.

All he needed to do was develop a jumper. 6'8, can shoot the basketball, play the post, and the defense he already brings? Easily up there with Shabazz and Noel.

Moe is wildly talented. He needs some refinement and he's going to be absolutely lethal.

  8. We aren't a playoff team. The Cavs were around .500 the first 10 games of the season before recording the worst losing streak in NBA history.

And Redick is 100% gone; far too valuable to other teams around the league to waste his best years on a rebuilding team and Rob knows it.

The Cavs collapses of the last two years have directly coincided with Anderson Varajao getting hurt. Just saying. Dude wasn't healthy. If he stayed healthy, they probably don't have Kyrie I... wait, that was the Clippers pick anyway, they probably don't have Dion Waiters (maybe not a bad thing) or Tristan Thompson (Again maybe not a bad thing).

We aren't that bad. We have multiple guys who have played key roles on good teams in their careers, AA and Harrington as recently as last year. BBD stepped up when Dwight got hurt last year. JJ has always played well in extended minutes.

Not a top 5 seed, but we could sneak into that 7 or 8.

  9. With NittanyBuc, only 2 games. The energy is sure to wear off. In a month we will know what the rest of the season will truly be like. But saying that I love the new gamestyle. Was so over the Van Gundy/Howard/Three point gamestyle.

I am very excited about the gamestyle Vaughn has installed. The ball movement, off the ball movement and penetration is what I think the most exciting style of the game.

It's hard though, 60% of me is so excited for the wins... But the 40% (logical side) knows the more we lose the better we will be in the future. No point of this team not being in the bottom 5.

Nah, I'm done hoping we can land a star through the draft. In 8 years, when he's ready to win a ring, he'll leave anyway.

But regarding the energy falling off. I'm not sure it'll happen. Jameer will be back in a few days. Harkless will be playing soon, Harrington will be back eventually. Ayon will get healthy. You'll see Nicholson earning more PT. I said it in the off-season and I think it's starting to materialize; this team has really good depth and unlike last year where the team sucked if 1 or 2 guys slumped, this year I think we have people who can pick up the slack.

By no means are we a contender, but I'm not sold we aren't a playoff team either. We're a collection of good players. Even McRoberts, who appeared to play terrible had 5 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists. Unlike some of the guys in the past who have failed the eye test and put up Duhon 0-0-0-0-0-0 statlines, I see guys on this team who will do other things that will show up later.

And please, Rob, don't trade Redick. Like Jameer, dude deserves to leave her on his terms. If he wants to be back, we should give him that chance.

  10. I don't think we're as good as the last two games but I really don't know why people thought we'd be so bad. Glen was a double-double machine with Dwight out. JJ has been a 18-6 guy when he gets starters minutes. Meer is going to go on runs during the year. Add in a guy like Afflalo who is lethal in trasnition. Two backups PGs in Moore and Ish who both bring something different to the table. Young players who may look lost now but will only get better in our 4 rookies.

And at some point we'll get Al Harrington's scoring boost and defense off the bench.

  11. Nicholson and Harkless are both later picks by playoff teams and also both projected to be solid players. You have to be really lucky to get a superstar no matter what the draft class.

No matter what happens, I think we have some brains in our front office the likes of which have been missing for a long time. I think some smart picks will be coming, and will be a surprise on the league. We also can't rule out the possibility of trading up in the draft.

Harkless will boom or bust. Not really a middle road with him. A lot of people believe his talent was up there with the top. Just about him reaching it.
