  1. Boston won't be as bad as us. Rondo is still there, Green can play some, Marswag might be able to shoot? CLee isn't horrible (just very average) and it looks like Olynyk has game. Toronto won't be as bad as us either. Same with Atlanta. Also think Zeller/Jefferson will make Charlotte better

Phoenix, Milwaukee, Kings, and Philly will be our "top competitors" I think.

  2. It's summer league. Only things that really have been worrisome In my opinion are how bad Moe's shot form looks. Literally looks like a 10 year old trying to shoot with one hand just pushing the ball towards the rim. Finally looked like he found a shot last year but god his form and the shots themselves look bad.

Secondly, Nicholson just looks like a guy who is too much of a liability and ball stopper to really utilize. He's good decent post moves but he's not quick with them or overpowering. His defense and rebounding are both atrocious and he seems unwilling to pass out of the post. Is the 10-12 points he'll get you on a good night worth getting the offense stuck in the mud and playing 4v5 defensively?

Otherwise, hard to take it all seriously.

  3. I want to see Oladipo explode to the rim today the way Russell does (for those making that comparison) or even Reggie Jackson. Vic has an unreal vertical but just seems like (and maybe it's just hesitancy playing a new position) he's not exploding towards the rim and seems to be trying to bump into contact and play below the rim.

Maybe I've overestimated his athleticism but would like to see a few more highlight plays than just dip head, lean in, throw up shot, go to line. It is summer league after all. Put someone on a poster.

And Kelly Olynyk again just has a ridiculous offensive game. Can score from everywhere.

  4. You don't see an uber athletic PG who can score at will being a Hennigan guy? I think the Magic will make some calls about him.

It's just one example..the Magic will able to do so much next season.

The best part about the new CBA free agency is the $$ is available from multiple teams. You sign a player now and it is because they want to be there.

More an indictment on Wall's attitude just based on the handful of Kentucky fans I know. For the most part, they all look upon him negatively. Diva, would yell at the crowd even at home. All second information but if the picture they've painted for me is true, I just don't see him being a guy we'd bring in considering the type of player we've acquired. Maybe I'm wrong though and Wall is a tremendous talent.

  5. Osby could end up being SF for us. Don't assume he is going to exclusively be a PF. He prefers the SF position.

I see him as Harris's backup. And I hope to see Harris play more SF this season.

I also think Oladipo will play a lot of PG this year. We will not know until camp who initial starters are, but it is safe to assume that it will take a lot of work from Vic for Jameer Nelson or Afflalo (if still here) to be a sub.

If the Magic can trade Afflalo, then Vic can start at SG. He has such a long reach that any height concerns should be squashed now. I see Vic playing 35 minutes a game and getting 15-20 every game at point.

It makes sense. Next season the Magic are looking at drafting an elite wing in Wiggins, but that is a 25% chance. The reality is that they will be looking at 2 PFs and possibly Smart or Parker. This is why they need to play Oladipo at PG and see what he can do. If we do get Wiggins, he really could dominate the league at SG. Oladipo, Wiggins and Harris is scary good.

If we go for a guy like Smart or Parker, or decide to snag a PF then Vic can be our Harden at SG.

Another option that could happen is the Magic make a run at John Wall and play him and Oladipo together. They could both initiate the offense. We draft SF or PF and are back in the playoffs.

There are a ton of options and for that reason it makes complete sense to play Vic at both positions this year and develop him at a rapid rate. 2014 is going to be the offseason pay back for all magic fans. It will be awesome.

Don't see Wall ever being a Hennigan guy. We may take some Calipari guys but I don't think they will be the "look at me" Noel and Wall types.

Watching us run the break yesterday, Kasey Hill would just be too much fun with our wings.

  6. Glen provides leadership and is a fantastic help defender. Think he has a role on this team. Who's he taking time away from? The greatness that is Nicholson and his senior home game? I understand wanted Tobias to play more but can't he play the wing with Vic or Moe? Heck, put Vic at point, Moe at the 2, and let Tobias play the 3 in some situations. His contract is manageable and think he has intangible qualities that can help the team.

Would much rather see Afflalo and his "im pissed I'm playing the 3 so I'm going to refuse to shoot" bull shipped out of town.

  7. Am I the only one who thought Maurice looked even more athletic? The two dunks he threw down he got up quicker than I saw him get up last year. Maybe athletic isn't the right word but rather more explosive, quicker? Again though, he needs to stay engaged defensively. Let his man cut back door and drift away from him too many times. When he was on-ball though it seemed like he gave everyone fits.

O'Quinn is solid and produced good numbers in extended time last year. Would like to see more twin tower looks with him and Nik considering both have shown the ability to step out and his a jumper.

  8. Not our guy but Kelly Olynyk's offensive arsenal is incredible.

Wish we had a true point on the summer league team. Dipo looks really good but he's not a point guard and having him play there takes away from his off-ball strengths.

Defensively though, Dipo, Harkless, and Osby are just a firestorm of athleticism. Throw Jones in too. Really hope Dequan makes the team again. Think he's got potential as a defensive guy at the end of the bench.

  9. Josh Smith to Detroit which actually makes sense. If he is at all engaged it's a good defensive compliment to Monroe.

And Denver's failures in the trade really go back to Gallo's knee injury. If that doesn't happen, things probably go differently for them. Just my .02.

Re: Harris and Harkless, Tobias is better now but Moe's ceiling is incredibly high. Guy dropped 25 on Durant and 28 on Parsons last year, two playoff teams to boot. He showed flashes late of being a strong offensive threat and it's not like Ariza who scammed the rockets by hitting kickout threes from Kobe and Gasol. Harkless didn't exactly have stars setting him up.

EDIT: Detroit wants to play Josh Smith at the 3. That's :panicworker:

  10. Kind of glad Bledsoe is gone. The thought of investing long term money in him to be the point guard of the future was incredibly depressing. What's his career been so far? The 4th or 5th best player on teams that have failed living up to expectations since his year at UK? The Clippers are loaded now though. Dudley was a sneaky good acquisition.

I'm fine with Jameer and Moore letting Vic and Lamb run some point as well. Also would like to see if Harris can be a playmaker.

And Marcus Smart isn't going to seem like a prize if these high school kids live up to the hype. Harrsion and Hill should both be better.

If Calathes is interested in coming back state-side, a 2nd round flyer on him I think would be a good gamble. Playmaking was never his issue at UF and that was with some absolutely atrocious teammates (Parsons before he could do anything other than dunk and Marreese Speights).

  11. I go to Michigan and have been ridiculed multiple times for being especially harsh on the Michigan players (I wore my Florida gear for the elite 8 game). But Burke is significantly better than Smart.

And please let's stop acting like OkSt was not an exceptionally talented team. They were just poorly coached.

  12. I'm not sold on Burke's game but he has insane range on that three and is a leader and a positive team influence. As much of a mess as OkSt was, they had a lot of talent and Smart never seemed to corral it in.

I don't think either are as good as BMAC or a health Nerlens. However, of the two I prefer Burke because he's a 100% pure point, has better handles, is more athletic, a better shooter, and from what I've seen has a larger "it" factor.

Trey's not the fastest but he can jump and that wingspan is a huge asset. Probably the best in college at that reach around pick pocket steal. And after watching Uhn and Anthony Johnson for years, point guards will still turn their back at half court.
