2012 MAGIC Offseason Thread
LittlePennyProdigy replied to Live or Die Magic's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Agreed. People want to point the finger at management, but I think people forget a lot of things. Shaq was going to leave for LA no matter what and basically uses the Magic as leverage to get the best deal from LA. TMac was bad luck because it was impossible to put a team around him due to Grant Hills contract. Finally, while the roster did get pretty bad around Dwight, I fully believe that since HWNSNBU came along, Dwight was planning on bolting. -

Although Dwight will win many rings in LA, after basketball he will end up broke after paying child support for 20 something kids. Then we can laugh when he is spotted under the I4 overpass wearing superman pajamas dunking a flat soccer ball into a shopping cart for change. -

I'm just mad all the picks are protected and Al Harrington. When Bynums knees explode I want that lottery pick. It just seems every team, except orlando, gave up little and improved a lot. I wasn't expecting a star in return but I didn't think we would get shafted. I hope every big man defending Dwight elbows him in his back. It will make up for the knife in this fan bases back. -

Rudolph is such a giant clown and utterly clueless. Even if I wasn't a Magic fan I would think he is a enormous tool. Can he really believe the words coming out of his mouth? I mean how far can one mans giant head be up another mans a**? -

If this cluster F of a situation can be reconciled, then I'm all for it. As a Magic fan I would love to see the best center in the game retire in a Magic uniform. Unfortunately, it does not appear that will happen, so the next best thing would be a Houston trade. I'd say Dwight, J-Rich, Duhon for at least Lamb, Jones, Martin, and 2 firsts is fair. Although it would be nice for this to be over, being patient until the right opportunity presents itself is the best course of action. Whether it's a trade or extension. Also, I don't understand why Dwight has to sign the extension. I get the Magic want a commitment but honestly it makes no sense for him financially. 3 year extension vs. 5 year max contract. Even if he was 100% staying, why on earth would he pass up signing a longer and larger contract? I understand bridges have been burned but if I were running the Magic I'd keep him and dare him to walk away from the extra year. Not to mention the teams with space aren't anywhere in New York or L.A. End random thoughts. -

Dwight and stan should be locked in a room and forced to watch Major Payne together. Perfect remedy for this drama. -

Well if Dwight resigns after another free agent in 2013, we can go over the cap (luxury tax will be a ***** though). I don't think we would resign Jameer for 8.5 mil a year or JJ for 6.5 a year. I think Jameer could be our Haslem, take a pay cut to play his role and remain with the team. JJ is a toss up, I would love to see him retire in a Magic uniform but we gotta be smart. Same with Ryno, we can't afford to overpay, especially if Harper can step into his role. Big goal is to move Hedo, Duhon, or Jrich. Give BBD one more year before we throw the book at him, he may develop into a solid defender/rebounder in our rotation once we get a backup center. -

Depending on draft position, we should flip Jrich and this years 1st rounder for future 1st rounder. Free up cap space and stock picks to make move for Jsmoove/ellis/iggy. -

Hedo and Duhon will have more value being traded to teams looking for cap relief if we can deal for ellis, jsmoove or iggy. Plus we will have Jameer and JJ expiring. -

Ryno's value comes with his compatibility with Dwight. Without Dwight Ryno is not worth as much, so no need to extend when his value was hard to gauge. -

We won't have the cap space to make an offer unless we trade some players for no salary in return. Magic are currently $11 mil over cap with these players and their salaries expiring: Ryno (2.2 mil) Orton (1.1 mil) Ish (760K) Liggins (473K) Unless you get rid of other contracts, Magic have no space to sign D-Will.
