    2012 Offseason

Yeah but if Dwight truly wants out of Orlando, Josh will try recruiting Dwight back to his hometown instead of Dwight recruiting JSmith to Orlando.

I'm sure Dwight is editing his list as I type this. No way we trade him in our division though

Walks where? He doesn't even have second team on his list. And if he does, we have $18M in cap space...oh no! Also I said trade deadline or deep into this summer. Actually now works too, since the Atl/BK trade is a done deal and Dwight just lost his leverage. :)

Did Dwight ever deny going to the NBAPA? Assuming he wanted them to help him out of his contract, what could his reasoning possibly have been? I guess your willing to just take Dwight at his word? Regardless, I have zero sympathy for anyone making the kind of money Dwight makes, unless it's regarding the loss of a family member or some other human interest hardship...which this is not. The guy's a dousche...please stop defending his actions

I don't know the salaries, but I don't think being tied up in JJ (max or near max contract), DWill (max contract), and Gerald Wallace ($10M/year) will leave them any room to add a max contract next off-season. Dwight is fuked

This is exactly why we wait til the deadline, or at least deep into the summer. Many more teams will come calling once they know Brooklyn is no longer a legitimate possibility. Brooklyn is not waiting for Dwight...that ship is sailing away quickly and Dwight knows it.
  8. Wrong thread I suppose ^, lol. I agree with you. Regarding the topic of this thread, is anyone really that surprised that Dwight went after the smallest player on the team...after Ish Smith at least? I guess Kendrick Perkins taught Dwight that he doesn't really match up well against guys his own size.

If Dwight re-signed in Orlando would you root for him?

Yes, I would like it better if he nicely left us. By that I mean he needs to shut his ***** pie hole, quit the double talk and trying to save his Image (which he has already severely tarnished), and stop trying to force the issue with BK...it's a slap in the face to the fans and the city he claims to love. Just be a man and say my heart is no longer in Orlando and at least people will appreciate the honesty. He can't have it both ways. It's like he wants to break up with Orlando, but he still wants to be BFF's. It just doesn't work that way EDIT - LANGUAGE (sorry, thanks)

Like I said before, that's your prerogative. You don't have to justify why to me. My opinion is already made and certainly yours is too

The offers will get better because NJ/BK will not be able to sign him outright (assuming they keep D-Will and add JJ as rumored) and more teams might be willing to take the gamble

    I agree completely

Not if we run Dudoo at PG and trade D12 at the deadline. NJ won't have the money to sign him either, so more teams would likely be in play to take a chance

Yep. I was arguing this point last week. Dwight never would have let us know of his intentions prior to the draft though. Not with Houston acquiring picks to try to make a deal for him. Henny maybe should have pushed the issue b4 the draft, although in his defense, there really wasn't much time.

Revenge? No. I just want Dwight to take responsibility and the criticism that comes with it. I'm pretty sure this is the same sentiment SVG had before the press conference that probably sealed his fate. He was as fed up with all the BS as we are now and I respect SVG for calling Dwight out.

Since he doesn't have a no trade clause, he's taken it upon himself to make sure everyone knows that he will not extend with any team thinking of dealing for him, again trying to force the Magic's hand to deal with NJ only. I guess this is Dwight's idea of loyalty. Keep in mind, he could have opted not to waive the ETO last year and he'd be able to walk to NJ now for them to sign him outright, but he didn't and now he's trying to force his way to NJ again. He gets more money if he extends with us and is traded and that's what its all about for this guy. Money and endorsement opportunities.

Its your prerogative if you want to ignore what a douschebag Dwight is, but I think I speak for the majority when I say he has worn out his welcome here in Orlando. This whole thing is a mess that Dwight created and his trying to save his image in Orlando by saying "I would never disrespect the fans and the organization in my city" is laughable at best, if not downright deceitful. This guy is a joke, and is the laughing stock of the NBA at the moment. I wonder if its even dawned on him that his image may be tarnished beyond repair and he may ultimately miss out on all those millions he was counting on in endorsements if he ever does make it to BK? I agree with others, this guy isn't coming off as a very bright person at the moment, much less a leader or a champion...at least in terms of character.

I guess that could be NJ's starting line-up in 2013, if Dwight signs for the MLE next off-season. If we do trade him to BK, we need to at least wait long enough for Deron Williams to sign with Dallas first. I don't want this guy to be in a position to win a championship anytime soon. Not that winning championships has anything to do with Dwight's agenda.

    2012 Offseason

He did come out and say he wants a trade and said he would only sign with one team. He doesn't have to say BK...its been reported and everyone knows that's who he's talking about. Dwight wants it both ways. He wants to appear "loyal" to a city, who he's asking to be traded from yet in the same interview he's purposely still trying to force us into making a deal with only one team by letting all other teams know he will not re-sign with them under any circumstance...his agenda is clear. He will blame everyone in the world for this once the trade goes down and will never accept any personal responsibility, just like he does after losing a game. This is the person he is.

    2012 Offseason

That's what FA is for and where the cap flexibility comes in handy. At least we'd have a nucleus of talent and assets to make deals and cap room to add elite talent. Look, there's no guarantees either way even if we manage to keep Dwight. I just personally think this about the best deal were gonna get because, like it or not, no one else is willing to take on Dwight un-extended.
  23. magicblue

    2012 Offseason

I can tell you, we would prolly suck for 3 years. Hopefully though, over time, we would improve and add talent to become a contender. Where will we be if Dwight walks? Same answer, but with less talent/assets
  24. magicblue

    2012 Offseason

There's no guarantees in the draft, even when your picking 1,2,3. See Michael Olawakandi, Kwame Brown, Darko, Thabeet, and on and on and on. Its what you do with the picks you have and the TEAM you build over time. The value of a pick in one draft compared to another is totally dependent on the quality and depth of the talent pool from year to year. Not to mention we WILL suck next year and will likely have another top pick in 2013, not to mention cap flexibility.
  25. magicblue

    2012 Offseason

As already pointed out, we would be in the running for a top pick in next years draft and would also have cap room to make other moves to add marquee talent. If we let Dwight string us along, and we get burned, we'll be about two years behind based on the talent we could add by taking Houston's offer and guess what folks, there's no guarantee were winning it all anytime soon even if we manage to keep Dwight. Our franchise player is coming off surgery and already has serious flaws, even when healthy. There's other blueprints to winning championships that don't include Dwight Howard, as hard as that is for some to believe.
