He's 22. There's far less than a handful of centers doing what he's doing at his age. A lot of his weaknesses (TO prone at times - 1.7 per, needs to finish stronger, etc.) can also be attributed to youth and inexperience on the court. I'm not saying you build around the guy, but I don't see any better center prospects coming out of college where we'll be selecting in the draft, or already in the NBA that wouldn't demand a Brook Lopez type contract (actually very few centers are putting up double doubles, including Lopez, and none are 22 yrs old). Sure he has some flaws, he's a developing player... but he already rebounds very well, defends adequately, and has an expanding offensive game. This guy is easily worth 6-7M per on a four-year deal and will probably get considerably more than that on the open market, especially if his game continues to improve as it should. I say extend the guy now to a value contract and let him know we believe in him and he's part of our future.

I agree, not necessarily that he should get a lot more touches, but that this guy is a keeper and should be locked up and extended as soon as possible. Name any other 22 year old center in the league averaging 10.4pts and 9.9rbs a game? I don't believe there is one. This guy is our center for now and hopefully for the forseeable future and I'm sure Henny agrees...lock him up!

Yeahhhhhh...but we haven't played them for the second and third time respectively yet, much less beat them, so you can't really hold that against our current record. Not saying we're a dynasty in the making, but also don't think its fair to factor our future schedule into our weighted success yet.

Exactly. We're rebuilding folks. As difficult as it is, try to accept the idea that we don't want a big name player coming back. We want/need young talent, cap flexibility, and draft picks...the more the f'in better. We're starting over...this is how its done MF'ers. Strap in, it's actually kind of exciting...if done right
