2012 Orlando Magic Regular Season Thread

He's Ariza-like in terms of defensive ability, but I think his offense will ultimately be a notch or two above what Trevor brings...assuming his shooting continues to improve, which it should with hard work. He's already shown some improvement this season, which may relate more to his increased confidence than anything else. Missing training camp clearly hurt, but he looks like a different player over the last week or so. If he had come out of the gate playing the way he has lately we would all be going crazy...its clear the guy possesses a ton of natural talent. Should be fun seeing how he plays and develops over the second half of the season. He kinda reminds me of an 18 yr. old T-Mac, and yes I realize he's 19...I mean when McGrady was 18.

Nice. Just another reason to put faith in Hennigan. The deals he hasn't done say a lot about the guy imo

We didn't exactly suck prior to BBD's shoulder injury (12-13)? Instead of waiting for apologies you can always just go with nah-nee, nah-nee, boo-boo...

We can just buy a late first or second round pick so why pay Calderon? We're not involved

The only problem is that we won't be, nor do we want to be, winning this year or next. So the question becomes are we willing to pay the tax and lose, at least for the next couple years?

I could see us getting involved eventually, but the closer to the deadline we wait the more leverage we'll have. I'm expecting a lot of activity the day of the deadline with our desire to obtain picks and our ability to dangle that TPE, JJ, and pretty much anyone other than Vuc or Harkless.

Pretty sure Toronto swept us also, beating us four times, which is obviously much harder to swallow.

Vuc off to a great start and is the first starter pulled. Hmmm. He does have one foul, but this is becoming a strange trend

DET @ ORL Game Thread 1/27

Man these two point losses are starting to sting but try to keep in mind this is all part of the process. We aren't tanking, we're competing, and these games are completely watchable. I know there are no moral victories in professional sports but this is how it works. Keep supporting the team, they've earned it...they play hard, and just know things ARE going to get better. Sorry, I'm an optimist

If you were Rob Hennigan, how would you rebuild?

The most important thing is to be sure we maximize these next two drafts. Hell, even if we knock it out of the park this year, we're still almost definitely lottery bound next year, especially if we start making moves like dealing Redick for future picks (which I support) but will make us worse in the short-term. If we can get a solid starter in this year's draft, a star in following year's, and then make a splash in the summer of 2015, we will be good to go.

I only recall one good performance from Ish in his entire tenure with the Magic and that was a week or so back vs. the Clippers. Other than that game he has pretty much done nothing at all

ESPN: Magic are big winners in Howard Trade

Yeah, pretty sure he actually had surgery too. I was actually thinking he might have been faking it the other night while getting absolutely tooled in Memphis, during the third season reset for the Lakers. You know...the one which he proclaimed

Dwight cleared to play and looking good in the first quarter vs. Utah. Mystery re-injury seemed to resolve itself rather quickly...

If you were Rob Hennigan, how would you rebuild?

We're in position to draft high for the next 2-3 years, get quality talent there on value contracts, and then throw money at a guy like Love who can spread the floor and would play great off Vucevic. The draft should dictate our course in free agency, and we have absolutely no room for wasted picks, BUT, if things go right we could absolutely be contenders in 3 years

ESPN: Magic are big winners in Howard Trade

I agree with this. I think its only natural for us to enjoy watching Dwight being exposed. Not injured...exposed. I've said it before, Dwight is pretty much all talk, he talks about being a leader...but has no leadership qualities and can't lead, he talks about wanting to be a closer like Kobe...but can't close, he talks about wanting the ball more on offense...but constantly gets stripped down low or fouled and fails at the stripe, he talks about wanting better teammates...and now that he has them, he can't play his role and win with them. It goes on and on. People are finally starting to realize that the issue here is that Dwight, for all he's capable of when healthy, is just not the player he wants you to think he is. Do I want him to get injured, no. Am I basking in his and the Lakers epic failure, hell yes! There's an absolute difference.

Did he aggravate it or is this simply his out for posting 2pts and 2rbs in 14 minutes after telling the media he was gonna "bring it" tonight? Hmmmm? What a tool that guy is!!!
