Sounds like JJ's agent is trying to keep him from being traded. Putting numbers out there like that may scare away teams that are hoping for more than just a rental.

    1) That takes away our leverage, or any perceived leverage you thought we had...even if the team is over the cap (in which case they wouldn't give up assets we'd want anyways...again, I cite the Ryan Anderson deal) 2) Right now we have leverage, he's ours and other teams (potentially) might be willing to give up young talent wasting on the bench or a draft pick in order to go all in 3) There's no time between now and the time he's an UFA that we'll have more leverage and that leverage is lost once the deadline passes. Leverage is what allows us to acquire assets we want rather than simply taking what is given. This is a fact, and it really isn't that difficult to comprehend once you get over the trying to defend your point part and just accept it. This entire differing of opinion stems from your original assessment that because a deal hasn't happened yet...it's not going to, which is pure speculation on your part. Do you acknowledge that? Notice I've never said he was or wasn't going to be traded, because I sure as hell don't have any idea...but him not being traded as of yet has no relevance or bearing on whether he will or won't be...he just hasn't been. If the right deal comes along tonight...we'll trade him. If it comes along an hour before the deadline...we'll trade him. If it doesn't come...we won't. There's no absolutes. It's pretty simple.

No I understand what you're trying to say but your logic is flawed. We may or may not be in a position to work a sign and trade deal to get JJ to where he wants to go. You acknowledge that right? Sure he may want to sign with a team over the cap, but then our only choice is what said team is willing to offer and if that doesn't meet our liking JJ can simply sign with another team that has the ability to sign him. You seem to be under the impression we'll somehow be calling the shots during this process and the fact is we won't be, and even if we are involved we will be getting a crap deal similar to the one we got last summer for Ryno. Do you understand?

I agree and there is certainly a chance he won't be traded, but it definitely won't be because we think there's better opportunities in the summer...Hennigan knows that's not the case. To Murphy's point, the fact that he has not been dealt yet is irrelevant and is not an indication that he will or will not be traded, only that he hasn't yet...nothing more, nothing less.

And I would say that makes absolutely no sense. How does Redick have more value this summer than now? He's an UFA so he can sign wherever he wants. Yes, we might be able to work a sign and trade deal with that one team, but it would be on that one teams terms and we'd end up getting something similar to what we got when we traded Ryan Anderson. That's assuming the team Redick wants to sign with even deals with us. The time to trade Redick (if we're going to trade him) is now, when all teams are in play and are looking to make a playoff run. He loses all value to us after the trade deadline because we lose all the leverage. This is the reason we probably haven't seen a deal consummated yet. Again, there's no reason to believe that just because a deal hasn't happened yet it absolutely won't. Our best leverage and really only leverage is the time between now and the deadline passing, and once its gone so is the opportunity to make a deal on our terms. Just think about it, why would any team give up a draft pick or a young player with upside in the summer when they can just sign JJ outright and retain all their assets?

Why? Trades happen the day of the deadline all the time. You might ultimately be right, but at this point there's no reason to believe that just because a trade hasn't happened yet it absolutely won't. That just doesn't make any sense, especially considering how deliberate Hennigan appears to be when it comes to analyzing deals and consummating trades

    Scouting Marcus Smart: Update 03/10/2013

Not really. His shooting percentages have been steadily increasing and he's only 18 so there's plenty of room to grow. Plus he wont be starting for another year and will learn a ton playing behind Jameer

Yeah, that's a stretch but I can see 16-18pts and 12rpg. Having said that, I don't think Noel will average a double-double for at least a couple years if not longer. His offense is atrocious and he is definitely gonna get pushed around in the NBA until he puts on size and gains strength....if his slight frame will even allow it. Now that the guy has an ACL tear he's not worth the gamble IMO

Lets hope not anyways. Vuc is a proven commodity at this point and Noel was a gamble even before the injury, especially at #1 overall. If we draft Noel I assume it would be because we got bumped out of the top 3 and missed out on McLemore and Smart, and I could live with that. But there's no way I'd trade Vuc for him

    Go Lakers

Howard lacks the competitive drive and win at all cost attitude that the absolute great one's possess. Like him or not, Kobe Bryant is a great one and in this case he's completely right. Kobe must absolutely hate playing with Dwight...they couldn't be more different in their approaches. One's a five time champion and the other hasn't won jack, so the proof is in the pudding as they say.

Yeah, I posted this very same idea two or three days ago in this thread and suggested two of Lamb/PJ3/2013 pick/2014 pick. Not sure where the OKC pick in the 8-10 range you're referring to would be coming from though? They're a top team in the league, so the pick coming back would be late first round...not lottery.

Question for Magic Season Ticket Holders

I don't have any playbills but I do have about 4 or 5 limited edition souvenir tickets that were handed out to certain games, including our inaugural game back in 1989, at least one playoff game, and the first All-star game we hosted (Magic Johnson's return). All the tickets are holdered in acrylic and they display very nicely. Please PM me and include your email address if you (or anyone else) are interested and I can email pics of the lot. Thanks!
