If you didn't jump ship after the Dwight trade then you obviously accepted we were rebuilding from foundation on up, so you"ll be okay. It's not like we were on a fast track to a championship if we kept JJ. This is how it goes. We will all miss JJ and we all miss Ryno...they are good guys, but this is how you rebuild. The teams that half ass it are the teams we don't want to be...they have no hope ever

The Grizzlies uni's are awful, oh, and I almost forgot...so are the Nuggets. The Milwaukee jersey is tight though.

I don't get any of the love affair with MCW, at all. He's tall and plays point...big deal. You still have to be able to shoot and defend in the NBA, and he doesn't do either well.

I, like many others, did not like the pick back in 2006 but JJ you won us over with your persistence and hard work, professionalism on and off the court, and for the teammate you were during the fiasco of last season. You are truly one of my favorite all-time Magicians and I look forward to welcoming you back the first time Milwaukee visits Orlando, as all true Magic fans will. Good luck moving forward and thank you for the last 7 years!

We would only have some leverage if he wanted to sign with a team over the cap, and in that scenario we would be limited to taking back only what that team has and is willing to offer. In other words our options for improvement would be extremely limited. If a team had the cap room and wanted to sign him outright, there would be little to no incentive to deal with us, and if they did, said team would have the upperhand and we'd have no leverage.

It may not always be the case, but it's a general rule of thumb (not to mention common sense) that trading while you have leverage will general yield better results than hoping to possibly execute a S&T when you have little to no leverage. We've already been over this.

JJ is a good guy on and off the court and in some ways the face of the franchise, but I don't think religion has anything to do with it

In our defense, we've been pretty banged up all year and we competed very hard for the first 30 games or so, losing a ton of close games and getting a couple no one expected. This team lacks talent in general and the injuries have taken their toll, but this really isn't playing out much differently than anyone expected. It's gonna be a tough couple years, but this is part of the process. At least we're seeing some growth in Harkless and have our center moving forward. A couple good drafts and FA acquisitions and we'll be back...hang tight. As for JV, we can only hope his approach evolves as the expectation level is raised. If he doesn't that's a problem, but its not at the moment in my opinion.

Afflalo really does put the "shoot" in shooting guard. That dude loves to shoot. Sometimes I feel like that's about all he does...shoot, oh, and not pass

If we knew for sure we were going to end up with say Smart and Wiggins in the next two drafts I'd agree. However if we're not quite so lucky we may have to do work in FA and thats when having $7-8M/per tied up in JJ might become an issue. Wish we could just trade Afflalo, his defense is way overrated (at least it was) and on offense he's never seen a pass he didn't just go ahead and shoot instead.

True. Either way it seems like more than a coincidence that we're hearing these number 24-48 hrs before the deadline.
