Agreed. Also if we end up with the first pick I believe someone in the top 4 or 5 will want to move up to draft Noel and we can possibly move down a few slots, dump a contract or gain an asset, and still get our guy (Burke, McLemore?)

I believe we passed on Lopez more because that deal sucked and wouldn't leave us with the young players and financial flexibility Hennigan wanted. Not to mention, healthy or not, Lopez isn't a guy Henny (or anyone) would want to build around and/or pay near Max money. Many teams passed on Sullinger too, not necessarily sure if this speaks to any reluctance on Hennigans part or if he just liked Nicholson better at that spot. It would be irresponsible for Hennigan to pass on Noel for simply having been injured, particularly if medical staff indicate a full recovery is likely. Regardless, I have complete faith that Henny and Co. will do their homework and pick the guy who is best fit, short and long-term.

By historically I suppose you mean that one time he passed on Bynum? I think Henny will do his homework and if Noel is medically cleared he will strongly consider taking him. ACL injuries aren't what they used to be.
  5. To be fair, Horace left after Jordan retired between three peats...the Bulls weren't exactly contenders during that time, but I get what you're saying. We were a little handcuffed by Rashard Lewis' contract so I don't think we were ever in a great position to add superstar talent, but I believe there was a time when guys would have loved playing with Dwight. Early in his career he was an all-world defender, understood and accepted his role to a great extent, and seemed to have good relationships with his teammates. Obviously that time has passed and honestly I can't remember a guy going from basically being considered the next best thing to Lebron, in terms of a guy you'd want to build your franchise around, to where Dwight is now. It's kind of hard to believe and a little sad to see a guy almost single handedly cause his own self-destruction, especially from an image standpoint.
  6. At some point you have to wonder if other stars are going to want to play with Dwight. I mean that in all seriousness. I think his peers are aware that his shortcomings as basketball player aren't going away anytime soon and his reputation off the court has been severely tarnished. If you're Lebron do you really want to go play with a guy that's going to demand the ball, whine when he doesn't get, and more often than not fail to deliver when he does? I think Lebron is smarter than that personally.
  7. Cap space is cap space...makes no difference whether they're a big market or the "league loves them". You either have it or you don't.

I don't like Burke with the first pick at all. If we can trade down and pick up an asset or dump a salary I'm fine with us taking him, but I don't see him going first overall if we end up with the pick. I'm pretty confident someone in the top 5 will want Noel enough to move up and allow us to select Burke in their slot, if he's our guy...which I'm not sure he is.

Understandable for a 19 year old kid with a ton at stake though. If anything it shows he's at least intelligent enough to understand that the idea of staying in college, although commendable, is just an absolutely horrible business decision for himself and his family.

This from the same guy who recently complained that my questions, which challenged his perspective and that he had no response for, were in some way disrespectful and unintelligent (mainly because answering them would have completely destroyed his point). This board is always good for a laugh.

A lot of things need to go right in order for that scenario to present itself (us winning the lottery, Cleveland receiving the third pick) but sure, that kind of deal would be ideal. Regardless of how weak this draft may or may not be, its still preferable to have the 1st pick, especially if most teams believe Noel is the only impact player in the draft. The thought of stashing Noel, and tanking for a loaded draft next year, might be the best leverage the winner of this draft has actually and is one I assume Hennigan would strongly consider. Regardless, winning the lottery allows you to entertain the type of move you just presented so lets hope it happens.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but usually nicknames are shorter than one's given name. Sounds like your riding solo on this one, but thanks for letting us know

    Official 2013 NBA playoffs Thread

Not sure how OKC winning a title gives our organization a "boost" or in any way legitimizes what it appears we may or may not be trying to do. Teams have tried to build through the draft before, others have tried the FA route (us) and both have had varying levels of success. Some of its luck, some is shrewd drafting and in OKC's case it was a lot of both. The only thing that will legitimize the path we're on is wins...other team's successes and/or failures have no bearing on our franchise as far as I'm concerned.

Ha! You choosing not to respond to my questions, that happen to be contrary to you're opinion, doesn't make them any less intelligent. Question for the mod who deleted my previous post. Why was the post, in which I paraphrased exactly what Trey Time had just written to me, deleted? Thanks

How is the Lebron question any more stupid than you asking when was the last time Kansas produced a star player? More importantly, what bearing does your question have on scouting a current prospect, or the probability that said player will translate and possibly be a star in the NBA? The reason you don't like the questions is because you can't provide an answer that defends your point of view. Funny, because that's exactly why I asked them. So instead you ignore my question about Heinrich, if Lebron would have somehow legitimized the program in your eyes, and the part about how focusing on the program and not the player is inherently stupid. Again, you do this because it makes your point look rather idiotic. Thank God you have nothing to do with drafting players. I bet my left nut there will not be one discussion held in any front office war room about Kansas' inability to produce elite NBA players. It's a completely ridiculous notion and no amount of deflection on your part will change that. Edit: One last point. Please name me the program that consistently produces can't miss NBA lottery players that all become stars in the NBA. If McLemore attended that university for one season, would that somehow make him a better prospect in the short term or a better NBA player in the long term? Would he have better handles or attack the rim more aggressively or have that killer instinct that many feel he currently lacks? The obvious answers (since there's no reason to believe you'll respond) are no such program exists and no, these are McLemore's flaws...they have nothing to do with Kansas or the myriad of players who came and went before him. I'd say that about does for this topic.

There's no point to grasp, that's my point. Kansas not producing a superstar player in however many years has absolutley no bearing on whether McLemore will or wont be a great NBA player. None, zero, zilch. Since you still opt not to respond to any of my questions, I'll go ahead and just assume you concede the point and move on.
