Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

So basically he had a press conference to not tell anyone anything. This is fun!

Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

Yeah I'm pretty bored at work, so here's what I'm thinking: Trade #1: Wolves receive: #2 pick/Magic receive: #9, #26, D. Williams Trade #2: Clips receive: AA, Nicholson, and possibly the #26 pick (acquired from MN)/Magic receive: Bledsoe/Butler With #9 pick Orlando selects: Zeller or McCollum if Clippers trade falls through and he's available (I think he goes #7 to Kings) So basically we lose AA and Nicholson and add Bledsoe, D. Williams, and Zeller/McCollum. Only thing I'm wondering is what the hell were doing at SG if we trade Afflalo and do the MN deal? Harkless?

    Michael Kidd Gilchrist available?

Don't you mean we would want something more than that, since we'd be giving up the higher pick so they can get their guy and all? Edit: Nevermind, I misread the "getting him" part (MKG). We'd trade down two spots for MKG in a heartbeat obviously if that was actually being offered

From the article linked by Skywise, "Otto Porter (scouting report) of Georgetown is another player Hennigan has to be looking hard at, if only to keep his options open. Porter can serve as a point forward at times and is incredibly versatile, something you can't say about Harris and Harkless, who, although talented, already have the look of classic "tweeners."" Really? Harkless is a straight up SF and just because Harris has the ability to play either forward position doesn't make him a classic "tweener". To me a tweener is a guy who CAN'T play either position, not a guy who CAN play both

If we're already strapped in should we just tighten the belt a notch?

I agree. At some point between now and tomorrow Henny will pretty much have to say here's our offer, take it or leave it....otherwise we're heading in different direction and don't bother inquiring about AA again.

Actually the original asking price from Boston for Doc was ridiculous, so it was pretty easy for the Clips to say hell no. Boston was trying to run that circus and LA was smart to cut off negotiations until some reality set in for Boston. Doc worked closely with Ainge who always tries to squeeze everything out of any deal made (which he should as GM) and my guess is Doc will try to do the same with Bledsoe.

They could definitely work together on the offensive end, its the defensive side that concerns me...as I'm sure it does everyone. Having said that, I like Zeller/McCollum at #9 much more than Noel at #2, so if we take Dipo and Minnesota takes Zeller then something is probably up. Still hope we find a way to grab the #13 from Dallas and take Schroeder, especially if the Bledsoe deal isn't happening. I think he may be the steal of this draft once all is said and done. I'm thinking the Clippers have backed out of the deal (Doc likes Bledsoe), so that may be why we are now exploring other options, like dealing w/ Minnesota, and why Zeller showed up in Orlando this week (Doc was hired over the weekend).

How about add Jameer instead of Nicholson and a 1st rounder? He could back up Paul and let us start Bledsoe without any controversy. Also frees up more money, although I assume we'd re-sign Udrih

I was worried Doc Rivers could screw this up for us. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/magic-basketblog/os-mbb-orlando-magic-clippers-afflalo-bledsoe-trade-20130625,0,3316755.post

No offense, but Bledsoe's upside is considerably higher than Nicholson's and its probably going to be Nicholson or a pick, not both. Henny is a smart dude...have some faith

Anyone going to the draft party at the Amway Center? Oh and Larry Ridley on WESH just said source told him trade rumors between Clips and Orlando are untrue...so uh, yeah. He also said Zeller was in town for the 2nd straight day. Wtf?

Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

Good analogy, but don't believe the hype. It will likely be a heavily protected first or Nicholson, not both. What was it Boston wanted for Doc again? Yeah, what you want and what you end up settling for are two totally different things...just ask my wife, lol

    Michael Kidd Gilchrist available?

God Charlotte is dumb. I'd take MKG, except for we are kind of set at SF

According to what source? That tandem is way too soft for my liking. No way we take him with the 2nd pick

Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

I'm feeling like some people are not completely understanding how ridiculously athletic Bledsoe is. I mean he's an absolute elite athlete...easily in the top 10 league wide pound-for-pound in terms of athleticism and that's being conservative.

Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

Great points. As you mentioned Bledsoe is already a very good defender, with the potential to be all-defensive team worthy, so while he's cutting his teeth learning to run an offense, he can be out front wreaking havoc on defense and getting us into transition. I agree with you, it's really a win-win for both teams. Afflalo will be better off carving out his comfortable role as the 3rd/4th option and will be a great addition to your team during this window of contention you're currently in. Out of curiousity, what are you feeling the odds are on this deal going down? I'll say 65%

Thanks for sharing this...very insightful (no sarcasm). I don't think anyone is under the impression that Bledsoe is going to come in and be an All-Star or anything ridiculous. He does have lots of work to do, but the beauty is on this team he will get the opportunity and there's plenty of time to learn because we're still 2-3 years away from anything resembling contention.

Magic Going All In For Chris Paul's Backup?

I'm 99.9% sure you don't know ****. Thanks for stopping by and sharing the same **** we've been speculating on for about a month now. The exact trade parameters you mentioned (Nicholson or a protected 1st potentially being part of the deal), and seem to be under the impression is some sort of breaking news, has been discussed on this forum for days. Of course the Clips want a better deal, they'd be stupid not to...doesn't mean they're getting it.

Yeah I agree, if we draft him. I'm hoping Henny is leaning towards McLemore or Oladipo...I just don't like the risk with Noel (who was already a project before the injury) and would rather we add a solid player to our core (along with Bledsoe) this year and worry about the 2014 draft in 2014.
