    14pts (7-8 fg), 6rbs, 5blk on an unimpressive night...I'll take it. Oh and there's 8 mins left

    2014 Draft Thread

I personally prefer Embiid over Wiggins or Parker, so it's simply a matter of preference. Also assuming Tobias is a keeper I think one of Wiggins/Parker sets us up real nice. In this pipedream scenario I'd make a strong play for Bledsoe in the summer and we'd potentially be left with this as young core: Bledsoe, Oladipo, Wiggins/Parker, Embiid, Harris, Vucevic, and Harkless. That's a ton of young talent!

As someone already mentioned, NY still probably makes the playoffs in the weak East so that would be our pick assuming Denver is in the lottery.Plus, in your pipedream of picking #1 and #3, we could have two of Embiid, Parker, Wiggins so no need to trade Afflalo on a good contract and next years first to move up one slot.

This^, not to mention we wouldn't have to trade Vuc immediately even if we did draft Embiid. If we opted to we could always trade a re-signed Vuc for a higher caliber/salary player or just play Vuc at PF.

Sky, I emailed you two days ago through this site in regards to the TBN Fantasy basketball league but Luke is telling me you have not received any messages from me? Please re-check your email...thanks. It's Dan btw

If it were as simple as market value of gold you'd be right, but in this case there were so many intangibles including Dwight's injury, his short list of teams, and just his general douschiness leading up to the summer that had an unknown, yet certainly negative, impact on his value. Not trying to re-hash this btw

This is the exact discussion we had last year that DoM was referring to. I argue yes, but others disagreed citing Vuc hadn't shown that potential his rookie season (even though his per 36 numbers say otherwise) and therefore his value at the time of the deal was much lower. The discussion also centered around how valuable an asset future picks really are when you don't know where they will be and what they will ultimately yield (although first rd draft picks always seem to be relatively valuable assets). Whether or not it was a good deal then it certainly looks like a very good deal now considering the player Vuc has become and the way AA has been playing, so I think Henny deserves some credit for the foresight...or I suppose it could be argued he was really lucky.

    2014 Draft Thread

Instead of comparing Embiid to Hakeem (which is way too early, and simply not fair) I think a far more fair comparison at this point is Anthony Davis. I get that wing players rule the NBA, but come draft time every GM salivates over the big man, and Embiid's athleticism, footwork, and ability to learn the game seem to be off the charts. Keep in mind that drafting Embiid gives us the flexibility to trade Vuc if we so choose to try and pick up that star wing player we will need. I just think Wiggins has an extremely high bust potential and I don't have that same fear with Embiid. I trust Henny though, so as long as its Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Randle (what's wrong with Z. Randolph 2.0?) or Exum I think we'll be pleased

And it's not like he plays above the rim or anything. Most of what he gets on offense is step-backs, post ups, and three point shooting...age defying kind of stuff. That said, I still think we trade him.

To be honest, not a ton. I've only seen them vs. Kentucky, Florida, and Georgetown. I have seen enough to be more impressed with Embiid than Wiggins however. For what it's worth, Jay Bilas agrees :)/>

    State of the Magic

Good post. I agree on all fronts. Good news (I guess) is we're losing even with the vets playing and AA has certainly improved his stock, if he's a guy we're thinking of moving. I agree that it is really blurry when it comes to who's a keeper and who's not. I assumed coming in that Harris, Vuc, and Oladipo were, but I think its fair to say anyone on this team could be traded for the right piece. As for the plan, who we're targeting in FA, and the draft I think we need to just keep believing in Henny as we really haven't even exited Phase 1 of the rebuild (I think the next trade will lead us to Phase 2 and certainly the draft will).

    2014 Draft Thread

Top 10 isn't elite, it isn't even All-Star. To give some perspective, Afflalo is closer to elite at SG than Vuc is at center. My thinking is draft Embiid, who's ceiling is much higher, and use Vuc to try and obtain an elite wing player, or a pick that will be used to draft one. I personally think Embiid is closer to a sure thing than Wiggins, who's got Ben McLemore written all over him.

    2014 Draft Thread

Yes, and he also said that an elite wing needs an elite big man to go with him. It's kind of the same proposition. Is Vuc an elite big man?

    2014 Draft Thread

So aside from wanting to see how he holds up, your issue with Embiid is that he is not both a potential stud center and an elite wing?

    2014 Draft Thread

Embiid should be the pick if we land the #1. This kid could be a generational type big man. Then sign Bledsoe and trade Vuc for Love. Bledsoe Oladipo Harris Love Embiid

I believe they already have, which is likely what created the problem in the first place.

Correct, because it may not translate once he's met his match physically in the NBA. There's really no reason an 18-19 yr old basketball player should be carrying extra weight anyways.Lay off the doughnuts and get your arse in the gym!

I want his body fat percentage down from 15% to 6% in order to compete with the worlds best athletes. Right now he looks fat and soft.

    2014 Draft Thread

Parker has exceptional skills but dude is going to have to dedicate himself in the weight room and work on his physique. He appears very soft and he's going to struggle at the next level a bit since he lacks speed and explosiveness. Right now he looks like a 13yr old schooling 9 year olds, but that won't work in the NBA. If he slims down and tones up he could be great, but until then I'm not getting on the Parker bandwagon.

Still waiting for that first explosive take and finish over someone. He needs to take it stronger and at least create some contact...the soft stuff has been a block party all year.
