  1. Don't know why a lot of you guys are so enamoured with getting those late 1st round picks though. It's not like we have made the best draft choices out there: So anyway with the Nets we're basically getting: - Broken Foot Lopez - MarShon Broken Foot - Mehmet Okur - Kris Humphries - 3 Mid-to-Late 20's First Round Picks - 1 None Guaranteed Top 20 First Round Pick (From the Rockets protected until 15th) Lopez / Okur Ryno / Humphries / Davis / Clark / Harper QRich JJ / Marshon / JRich / Wafer / Legs Nelson / Duhon Fine whatever.
  2. Actually Otis might. Going rate for Centers these days are $13 million per year average. - Nene - Tyson Chandler - Marc Gasol All were signed this season to $13 million in the new CBA. If we're going to keep Broken Foot Lopez, it will likely cost us around $13 million too.
  3. For those with the thinking that Dwight won't leave because he wants that $30 million...... How much did LeBron and Bosh leave on the table in Cleveland/Toronto when they signed with Miami?

True but 3rd quarter is our worst quarter.
  7. Ellis and Beidrins for Ryno...... That's interesting. Not sure what I feel about it now, but I would've definitely done it last year. Anderson has been struggling with his shot lately, but I still like his game. Ellis plays PG/SG and is always tipping an All-Star selection plus he's someone who's quick and who always creates off the ball (something we hoped VC or JRich would bring rather than settle for jumpers) and he's an underrated ball defender too (Top 10-15 in steals). Biedrins is a hustler and one of the better/underrated defender like a poor man's AK47 who can play both PF and C. I just wish he could shoot 3 pointers. I would still keep Q and the trade would still work - http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6wk7b8o If we do that our starting 5 - We would have a low post pressence in the paint - Bynum We would have a roamer - BBD We would have 3 guys to shoot the open 3 to spread the floor - Ellis, JJ, JRich/QRich We would get a quick speedy facilitator/shot creator - Ellis Our man to man defense would also get a bump. Bynum/Biedrins Davis/Biedrins/Harper QRich/JRich/Clark/Liggins Reddick/JRich/Ellis/Wafer Ellis/Nelson/Duhon Tempting...... If we do this, maybe we could also trade Duhon to Lakers (they need PG) for Ebanks (younger Trevor Ariza) and get some more athleticism, depth, and younger at SF.
  8. To add to this, regarding wanting to get Draft Picks: Looking out our draft picks in this decade..... Year --- Pick # --- Player Name 2010 --- 29 --- Daniel Orton 2008 --- 22 --- Courtney Lee 2006 --- 11 --- J.J. Redick --- (missed out on Rajon Rondo, Paul Milsap, Kyle Lowry) 2005 --- 11 --- Fran Vazquez --- (missed out on Danny Granger, Monta Ellis, David Lee) 2004 --- 1 --- Dwight Howard 2003 --- 15 --- Reece Gaines --- (missed out on David West, Mo Williams, Boris Diaw, Kendrick Perkins) 2002 --- 19 --- Ryan Humphrey --- (missed out on Carlos Boozer, Tayshaun Prince, John Salmons) 2001 --- 15 --- Steven Hunter --- (missed out on Zach Randolph) 2001 --- 22 --- Jeryl Sasser --- (missed out on Tony Parker, Gilbert Arenas, Mehmet Okur) It's not like we pick the best out of the draft. Our picks from 10-19 draft choices have been pretty dreadful, I mean Reece Gaines? Ryan Humphrey? Fran Vazquez says hello with his #11 pick..... in Spain! We could've gotten a Danny Granger or Monta Ellis, instead we got a guy who never even played here. Even with a #20 pick we still screwed up..... Jeryl Sasser instead of Tony Parker or young Gilbert Arenas? The only one in the 10-19 ranged I like is J.J. but we still missed out on Rajon Rondo and even Paul Mislap. Picking in a draft not in the Top 10 is VERY HARD to gauge. It doesn't matter how many draft picks we keep getting, if these picks are in the 15-25 range, which is why it's better to try and trade for already proven players.
  9. Again, Clippers are not trading Blake Griffin. Again what's stopping Dwight Howard going to Los Angeles (Lakers). And more especially why he is not even close to going to the Clippers:
  10. Howard and D-Will at 30 years of age is still a good playoff contending team. That 2016 Nets pick will still be mid to late 20's.
  11. Okay let's say we do this trade: Marshon Brooks - We basically get Courtney Lee back, but now with a potential nagging broken toe. Brook Lopez - He would want an extension and the way bigs are paid these days, probably around the $12 million per. But if the Nets didn't want to give him an extension in the first place (source link), why should we? He has the same broken foot that other centers like Yao Ming, Big Z, and Bill Walton all succumbed to in their careers. So we either may just lose him to free agency, or Otis would sign him up to a future toxic long term contract. If you thought Rashard Lewis' contract for a SF/PF was bad..... wait til you see how much a center would cost. Kris Humphries - Overpaid decent role player who rebounds. He will likely walk because we're not paying him anywhere close to $8 million he's making now, unless Otis thinks he's worth it. Mehmet Okur - We'll have his contract expire, no more. Nets Draft Picks - So we basically will be getting a 1st round pick for the next 3 years (including Houston's Top 14 protected pick which looks like as of right now won't even happen since the Rockets are 18th in standings). But with Dwight and Deron Williams now playing for the Nets, these picks will be in the mid to late 20's; let's just say 25th pick on average. And unless we're the Spurs and can unearth a Tony Parker or Manu Ginobli..... good luck drafting Otis! So to break it down...... After next summer: + We would have Courtney Lee version 2.0, a couple of #25 picks, and an overpaid Brook Lopez who will be in and out of games. Assuming we do not re-sign Lopez or Humphries..... + We would also have $20.4 million in cap room to sign 1 big free agent and 1 good solid starter in one of the WORST (and OLDEST) free agents seasons. Aside from Deron Williams, since he will use his player option if Dwight's there so he's out of the picture, this is what the list looks like... Top 5 Unrestricted FA of 2012: 1) Gerald Wallace (Player Option) 2) Raymond Felton 3) Tim Duncan 4) Kevin Garnett 5) Ray Allen 6) Mo Williams (Player Option) 7) Chauncey Billups 8) Kirk Hinrich 9) Jason Terry 10) Elton Brand Good free agent season..... if this was 2005. :svgsad:
  12. Why Dwight Howard won't be going to Los Angeles (Lakers or Clippers):
  13. Wow thanks for that info. I jsut saw it on Twitter, had no idea Steve Kyler from HoopsWorld just copied that yahoo article. Will post the full quote then.
  14. What are you talking about? There is no Ha-Ha in topics like this.
  15. It's more JJ blowing off steam that is Dwight related, but not everything he says is all about Dwight.

They activated Liggins in place of JRich. But I doubt Liggins even gets playing time tonight unless the game is a blow out.

  21. Ewwww. Haywood + Marion = both over 33 yrs + both have HORRIBLE LONG contracts. - Haywood has 5 more years at $10 mil. - Marion with 3 more years at $9 mil. Not only we'd be stuck in the same pickle we are now, but we'd be worst! We'd suck more talent wise, be a lot older, and actually have more bad contracts to get rid off. Plus you guys don't have any 1st round picks since you gave it to the Lakers. Sorry we just don't see any value for your 2nd rounders.
  22. Does that mean by the tiny chance we even get a chance at landing D-Will, he too may get a foot injury? :svgsad:
  23. But this isn't "killer instinct", he's just... whining. He has to show killer instinct in the court, not whining to reporters after the game.
  24. Thank you very much LeBron.
