    2012 MAGIC Offseason Thread

These were all pretty high picks. You expect them to play when you pick these guys in the 1st round or so. Gortat on the other hand, it took him like 2 years to finally get some playing time. With the need for athletic guys and wing defenders last year, I have to think Liggins would have gotten some PT if he was playing for another coach in a similar situation. I just think Stan's style was just to stick with what he knew or with the guys that he was comfortable with.

This! I always wondered if it was just me that noticed how scared he looked on the court.

    Jersey help please

I'm thinking a Harkless jersey. I have to think he'll be sticking around. Too soon? Wait to see what he plays like first? Also, I totally agree with changing the "H" to a "C" on my Howard jersey. Where can I have this done?

He even threw in the 1st pick in this year's draft in that deal.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

anyone read this?? My link Brian Schmitz is out of his mind. Why would we prefer to have a so so team each year rather than a few bad ones rebuilding and then actually compete for a championship?? This is the type of thinking that scares me and makes me think that we are just going to try to patch it up and keep chugging along with all our bad contracts and sorry players. We tried the "winning now" approach. Look where it got us. Brian Schmitz is dumb.

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Dwight sat at a press conference and lied to all our faces. Does anyone remember?? "Loyalty. I'm too loyal". I could never believe anything that dude says going forward. I'd just feel like his heart wouldn't be in it 100%. He's a great player, but who's to say he will be back to old form after this back surgery. Cut your losses now and ship him out. BTW: D12 Jersey for sale.

This rockets trade sounds like when we traded T-Mac to the rockets. We got back Steve Francis, Cato and a few others.

What if the plan is to trade with LA all along? Bynum spotted at LAX headed to ORL (for a physical perhaps). Who knows. Dwight would be hating life. Being compared to Shaq by the LA media constantly. He would lose his mind. He would never live up to those expectations and eventually leave town, thus ruining his rep once and for all. MUHAHAHA....MUHAAHAHAHAAA!!!!

Stepping back for a second and seeing what the "supposed" offers are on the table for DH, the Houston offer seems to be the most sensible and make the most sense for what we're trying to accomplish. Rob is most likely using the Nets to drive up the offer he's wanted all along (Houston). If this is in fact the case, he is a genius.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBAHouston and New York agreed on a sign-and-trade deal sending Douglas, Harrelson, Jordan to Rockets for picks, sources said. Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBAThe Rockets will get the Knicks' second round picks in 2014 and 2015, source tells Y! The Knicks will pay Toney Douglas' salary in Houston. Could this be to sweeten the pot for us??

    The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

As I'm reading on twitter, more and more of the reporters and folks I follow (Schmitz, and others) are beginning to make sarcastic remarks on what a bad trade this nets offer is. Nice to see people are getting their head our of the sand and realizing what's been known on this forum since the beginning, that what the nets are offering is garbage.

Well said Sir. I agree wholeheartedly. I especially love #7.

    Ish Smith, 6 points, 7 assists, 3 steals +20

I'm gonna pass on your property, but good luck with that. If you continue to have trouble selling I may know a realtor that can help list it. As far as Ish goes, you're saying continue to use the same guy that continues to give you the same lackluster result rather than give another guy a shot? Practice and real in game action are 2 different situations. In my opinion (and it's only that) we should try someone else and see if we get a different result (as we did last night) rather than continue chugging along with the same Dudu getting the same results game in and game out.

    Ish Smith, 6 points, 7 assists, 3 steals +20

Using your same example: You are assuming that Ish did not study. What if he is in fact ready and has "studied"? The teacher has only given him 1 test. If the teacher is unwilling to test him multiple times to accurately gauge his knowledge or ability, then Ish is not getting a fair shake. But I do agree that what we've seen from Ish is not enough yet to make a change at backup PG, but if you combine that with the fact about Dudu's lackluster performances game after game, I say we should give the guy a fair shake. This has the potential of being that unknown factor teams in the playoffs don't game plan for against us.

Breaking News :Turk Out Three Weeks With Facial Fractures

I think we've seen what we can expect to get from Earl. Some positives (rebounding and blocks) some negatives (shot selection). I feel we have yet to find out what we have in Liggins and Harper mostly because of lack of pt. I'm not one to be happy when a player gets injured, but I do see there are some positives that can come from this ie. more pt for Liggins and Harper. However, the way I see this going down is: SVG will play starters longer minutes and give the bulk of the playing time to Dudu and Q if and when he's healthy. I love SVG, but C'mon Man!! Give the young guys some burn!!

    GameThread Nuggets @ Magic 4/1/12

Well said. I agree 100% with the part about bench players needing to have a role or identity. This is really hard for guys to develop, especially when they aren't part of that 8 man rotation. I hate that part of Stan's system also. Silver lining in the Ryno injury is that this MAY open some PT for liggins or harper or clark. Key word being MAY.

    Shaq Inteview

Heard it live. Best part was how he openly said he would take Otiz's job. Not sure I'd want him as GM, but he did show us some love.

Are the Magic Championship contenders ???

I agree about not wanting to see the celtics in the playoffs, but I really believe that the Hawks are a mentally weak team. They are much more athletic team than us, but if in a playoff series, we get them down 2-0 and have a nice lead in game 3, they will more than likely mentally check out. So long as we keep our foot on their throat. We cannot do what we do against a lot of teams during the season and get out to a big lead and then just coast the rest of the game only to barely squeak out a win in the end. We are a better team, we just need to develop that killer instinct and just finish teams when we have them on the ropes. I don't feel there are many guys on the team that would take pleasure in embarrassing an opposing team. It all goes back to us playing to the level or our opposition. With that said, I think we make it to the ECF.
