Because we can’t have nice things

I’m so glad they led with the Steve Hunter abomination draft. I laughed then cried then curled up after reading that

Or if you believe the stuff out there lately “break something big, people who do Woj’s intel work for him”

2021 Off-Season Discussion Thread

I could be wrong but I think I'm reading on Twitter someone in RJ's family just died yesterday? How awful for him :( -
That's about the size of it. And it's going to be hard to not get too attached to any of them either. God knows what the construction of our next good team is going to look like.

Outside of everything else I am firmly on the train of "as good as Vuc has become, this season is a dumpster fire" and we would have ended up not far from where we ended up anyway. I know noone asked lol. Also, agree with you that both of those things can't be true. Doesn't make him not a good player, but he was never going to be transcendent. He may have been the only reason we won a number of games but the games we lost with him, we were thoroughly out matched. Management called time of death.

I'm throwing my hat in the ring next year for this with Chet Holmgren. Not seeing it.

But hilarious at the same time. I do really wonder how long CP3 is going to keep up this elite level of play. I am so impressed how vital he seems the last two years -

Surely we would have gotten over the line in 2010 if we actually went for CP3 instead of Vince. (Sorry Mauro) -
not umming and ahhing over who may be a centrepiece and take 8 years to go back to the start?***eek, forget that** Editing because yes, I clearly worded that incorrectly. I hope this FO actually gets a clear flight path if you will, hate the carousel. Martins meddling has been mentioned lately. I just think that whether or not it was meddling or indecision brought on by similar pressure, nothing of use toward championship aspirations was identified. No Ibaka debacles, no Aaron Gordon point forward experiments to "unlock potential", just letting guys cultivate things that they are going to be good at and if we don't arrive at a number one scoring option - don't nail everything to the floor and say "ok we've had enough time, let's run with this.. whatever it is"

Well overpaying for good/not great is fine if you already have that star. I am holding out hope that one of our picks or pre-existing players becomes that guy but I won't feel too bad if they don't as long as we move on when something better presents itself.

I am honestly hoping that this rebuild isn't rushed to the point where if it's not obvious that we have something to build around, then we continue to change things up until there is. We got stuck on the merry go round with inadequate talent before. I'd really hope this management sees it the way we do.

Answered myself, yes. That is more than sufficiently efficient for the non-shooter! And far better than Dwight was 2008-2010 :(
-
And isn't Ayton shooting 70% just living at the rim this playoffs?
-
Sometimes though, you have to admit, that the key to a team's offensive success is the plethora of threats from multiple levels. They start 4 guys and have a couple of others off the bench who CAN shoot, and multiple guys also who can get to the basket. That doesn't mean their shooting isn't a large part of things, just that what has come up the best so far is more spread out. A couple of them have caught fire at pivotal moments I believe

jeez, near perfect start from CP3 here. -
As a rarely-proud Australian and fan, I honestly would just be happy with Giddey making me forget how disappointing Dante Exum has turned out to be. I think he already looks a lot better but I could be wrong. I don't want to be though. I need that closure.

Yikes. Does PG13 have it in him to mount a come back and take LAC to the Finals after all. In all honesty, even if MIL - LAC is a year later than it should have been, I think any of these four teams makes for a fun and interesting finals for once -

So... how often does Shams Charania report on things that don't come to fruition? He seems to be around alot these days. -

This is pretty out of character from what we've become accustomed too, especially given the person putting it out there isn't anybody of note and it wasn't swiftly followed up by an actual announcement. I can't think of an announcement about anything for this team that wasn't related to a done deal. -
That's seriously all I want, a guy who can score. One, tangible, basketball talent.
-
Yeah but we were still reaching with a bunch of unknown quantities there. The biggest things that attracted us were his fearless attitude to playing and his playmaking and the decent athleticism at his height. People said his shooting was better than the numbers and that’s where the argument for us fell apart. We got intoxicated by some great YouTube hype. I’m just saying if we were already reaching and there wasn’t that much ahead of Hezonja it’d be nice if this franchise actually took the guy who was already a reliable shooter for once
-
If it’s looking like the only way to get a sure fire shooter is to take Bouknight then why not. Last time we let a prospect go because it was too obvious we got Hezonja and I really messed up my own feelings there… we should have taken Booker. He’s definitely grown
