I get you, and I don't really get to do a lot of the eye test myself but I just get the impression I keep coming to threads where the discussion goes around in circles where it can't possibly be as bad one way or the other. I think the point for both sides is kind of moot at the moment. Truly a wait and see how the next 12 months goes situation if there were ever one.

The real funny thing here is I don't think I've seen one person say they'd go so far as to jump up and down and have a tantrum if Payton was replaced, a lot of people would welcome an upgrade... if one were feasibly available. Bickering about it isn't going to change anyone's mind that they're mildly satisfied with the status quo at the 1 for now. You can scream that he's terrible until you're black and blue in the face but people are going to disagree, the jury is still out until his career is toward its end and I think everyone is really quite aware of his flaws already. Like, they have been for some time.

Completely agreed, I personally feel the parallels between free kicks and penalty kicks in soccer/football are great there. It's just a deterrent to not make a poorly intentioned play off the ball. That should be discouraged under all circumstances. It's just not sport. And if not a reckless accident it's poor decision making and should be penalised in a fashon rather than rewarded for its ingenuity.

Despite clawing their way to their first Conference Finals, the poise of both franchises do seem to be heading in different directions at this point. But hey, how big were OKC down yesterday?

I think it would be a bit much to say that he wasn't happy in the first 5 or 6 years. He looked utterly joyful playing as his team got better and better. The fact that the wheels fell off after that 2009 run wasn't entirely on him. He wanted the Magic to fast track his success and get him another shot. They got him Vince Carter. I think most of us were excited. Vince was so excited he promptly rolled around on the floor grimacing. It would've been frustrating to see how much that experiment failed, then to follow it up by watching the team implode, lose out on every deal and end up in the first round with Gilbert f'n Arenas. He acted like a dick for sure. The behaviour was terrible and I find it hard to let go. But man how would anyone here have felt watching all of Arenas' failed shot and drive attempts in that Hawks series.. those Hawks weren't even good. If I were him, and I don't think he's all that bright, but I still would have a hard time thinking in that spot "why the f*** am I wasting my prime on THIS?" It's hard to throw teammates under the bus when you gain a camaraderie with them but it's easy to blame the person who is yelling in your face everytime you screw up. Kinda like yelling at a child to do the right thing is basically pointless no matter how frustrated you might be - they'll just turn on you.

It's really 50 / 50 with how I feel about this Spurs / Thunder series. I don't feel, now that the Spurs have reloaded that there's too much pressure if this year isn't there year, but obviously the opposite is true if the Thunder just collapse soon. And I don't know how I feel about it. It'd be nice for KD to be one of those 1 team guys, and win where he was "supposed to" win i.e. picking the team who drafted him out of the muck.. .. but then that franchise is OKC, and I still hate what happened to the Sonics, the Thunder's still stupid branding, the fact that every new piece they add is worse than the last piece they let go and I kind of want to see them all jump ship and watch the franchise get the d***ing it probably deserves. But yeah, I totally would like to see Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka and probably Adams, Roberson and Payne win something somewhere.. anywhere.

Not having seen any NCAA, and not trusting highlight videos, every time I go to a draft site I see Demtrius Jackson pop up. Don't see any of you talking about him here. I guess it's obvious because of that, along with being a 6'1" junior, but does he have any chance at being drafted at that spot in reality?

Yeah I guess I knew that and said it anyway lol.. sorry. It's just funny that the Dwight stuff gets so much attention in the media but it seems Harden's just going to be alone on an island ... probably with Morey and no pr**k wanting to play with him in a few years either. I always wondered, outside of money if there was really a good reason why OKC just had enough and I guess that's it.

Not to mention the rest of the squad. Young guys with no sense of direction, a JET who is just really too old for this s***, Beasley and Josh?!?!... did Parsons jump ship before the SS Morey does a Titanic?

I'm not really on board with this Dwight thing either (if I were Rob and going to potentially screw the chemistry here for talent, I'd be sweet talking Larry Sanders into a return to basketball... pipe dreamish I know).. but I really wonder how much of this is Dwight's attitude and how bad of a locker room guy James Harden is turning out to be. He reminds me of Jordan's lack of trust in his teammates except without the talent to back it up.

Love the way our boys bounced back from their set backs and handily crushed a clearly inferior team. That this happens I personally feel is a sign of consistency. Consistency of mind and confidence that there are teams that they are better at right now, experience be damned. Confidence is a beautiful thing to witness. And speaking of which, a franchise like Charlotte they should absolutely have a mental edge over. Call me overzealous but even with Al and MKG I really feel this roster does match or exceed each position with the Hornets. I'd probably feel a bit more worried about Kemba Walker's exploits if I hadn't listened to a few arguments to the contrary here. "I will not fear. Fear is the Mindkiller." !!

I haven't seen this game (or any) but I recall seeing Orlando play the Mavs the last year Penny was in town. Neither team hit 70 points and dudes were bricking uncontested jump shots in the lane. I don't know what Penny was actually doing that night, he may have been sleep playing. I was going to ask if it looked as atrocious as my anecdote from the late 90's sounds, but then I just saw the 6.3% 3FG% lol... oh god that's awful.

Agreed completely. It's just hard when I want Vic to obliterate people!

I think there are probably reservations, I had them myself, where we hope / know if his playing time resembled a light on version of all the great sixth men guards that it would be a thing to behold. But you also worry about a guy with such a big personality getting benched and just dropping the bundle entirely. Course I'd love the guy to succeed no matter what he did. But when you like someone as much as we all do with him it's hard to be rational and figure it will just be okay lol.
