We gave O'Quinn a QO, is he looking to go elsewhere?

I would have O'Quinn ahead of Nicholson, otherwise I like this.

I would like to see what Marble can achieve with a good head coach. He was inconsistent, but I did see some good possibilities at times too. Along those lines I would also like to see what Skiles can do with Harkless, O'Quinn, Nicholson, and Dedmon. We do have the potential for a strong bench but we need some better coaching than we have had recently.

I thought LeBron covered a lot of ground between the hard foul by Bogut and hitting the camera. I understand momentum and all that stuff, but that did seem like a loooong ways to go.

It was not called because that call, and the travel by Mozgov just after that where he took 4 steps might have caused Cleveland to lose. They also have to ignore all of the flying elbows from the Cavs, and ignore the very obvious pushes and shoves.

He is very capable of working in a faster offense than that. I remember last year in one of the games he played against us here. He chewed us up at the rim and at the 3 point line. Also, if he is leading our 2nd unit he only needs to run hard for a few minutes at a time. I also think he could be useful at helping to develop our younger talent.

I want Jameer back as our 2nd point guard. I am also thinking two or three years out, how well would Jameer work out on the coaching staff in the area of player development?

I also watched him throw a lot of elbows to the ribs of his defender, hooking after throwing the elbow to the ribs, there was a lot of pushing and shoving and holding, and in nearly every instance the defender was called for the foul. On that play late in the game near the baseline where LeBron was hit across the arms as the shot clock was about to expire, he traveled just before the contact. There was a layup by Mozgov where he moved his pivot foot, and then moved both feet again but the shot was counted. LVG commented on that. These plays do affect the outcome of the game. LeBron commits many fouls in every game that are not called. He runs people over that are clear and obvious offensive fouls but he is the one who shoots free throws. Golden State did play a rather pathetic game, my point is that the Cavs did not need the assistance of the "officiating" crew last night. LeBron does not win on his talent or his ability or his skills, he wins because he expects every call to go in his favor regardless of who actually committed the foul.

Am I the only one who sees the Warriors playing 5 on 8? The "officiating" is horrendous.

    Mario Hezonja ?

Clearly, KG's greatest talent was being able to "set" a moving screen and only be called for it a few times a season.

I watched the series between Chicago and Cleveland and was totally unimpressed with Thibs as a coach. At this point I would prefer Brooks.

This is like me trying to watch Monday Night Football. Say the halftime score is 6-3. If I stay up and watch the second half, the final score will be 9-6. If I go to bed, both teams go nuts in the second half, and the final score will be 41-38.

GAMETHREAD: ORLANDO MAGIC @ MIAMI HEAT

I knew we would be playing 5 on 8, but this is bad. The "refs" will do everything they can to help the Heat into the playoffs. On a side note, I have commented several times I think we need a stronger presence at power forward. It occurs to me that what I want is someone who plays with the defensive intensity of Dedmon, and with the passing and shooting of O'Quinn at the offensive end of the floor.

    GAME THREAD: Magic @ T'Wolves

I will actually be watching crowd shots for this game. My son, HighAngleEd, will be there along with an ex-Army buddy of his. They both ended up in Minnesota a couple of hours apart and both will be going to the game.
  21. I think O'Neal bolted, and Howard bolted after signing an extension and then disrupting the team... there may have been some others...
  22. Concerning your point 1, if the premium free agent has endorsements there will be a financial incentive to go to the bright lights of the big city, especially NYC or LA because some of the endorsement contracts pay more if they do. Your point 2 has a tie-in to your point 1. How many times have we drafted outstanding talent, only to watch that talent bolt to the bright lights of the big city at the end of the first contract? Why would premium free agents come to Orlando, if there is not going to be a solid and experienced team to join? My question: will the league ever see another San Antonio Spurs? That organization has an excellent front office, an excellent coaching and scouting staff, and extremely talented players who chose to stay put and be an actual team. Will Orlando ever draft talent that chooses to stay put, and doing so causes the premium free agents to consider coming here?
  23. Yes, that is why we need a much more experienced coaching staff, we have players with great potential who need to be developed properly.
  24. I have also been a fan since the beginning, and took my son to the preseason game played in the Ocean Center in Daytona before their first season. One thing I am tired of is what seems the inevitable cycle. We are at the bottom and have a top draft pick or near the top. We draft an awesome player, and over the next couple of seasons we start the climb to the top. We get there, we go way deep into the playoffs, and then our magic player leaves for the bright lights of the big city. We go back to the bottom, draft another awesome player... oh well just call it what it is: lather, rinse, repeat. Right now we are playing short-handed due to a long run of injuries. We also seem to be playing mostly playoff teams. If you look at the stats at the end of the game, in most categories we play them dead-even. Our problem is the final two minutes of the game, we play very hard for 46 minutes but can't seem to put anyone away. We also give up what seems like a ridiculous number of three point baskets. In my opinion, we need just a few pieces and we will be back at the top: we need a consistent deep shot threat to spread the floor, and at the other end we need to defend the deep shot threat much better. We need a dominating power forward who can help control the paint while we still have the 3-point line covered, and we need a stronger team defense. Get those items, and play all 48 minutes, and we will go far. An experienced head coach can help with a lot of those points. Feel free to chime in with some more weaknesses. Overall I like where we are headed, but we won't get there without a much more experienced coaching staff. The pieces we have now need more help to develop to their potential.

    GAME THREAD: Nuggets vs Magic

I wish we could figure out how to defend the three point line, that seems to be what is costing us games now. Has there been an opponent this season that has not set a team record for three pointers?
