Official Game Thread: Magic @ Bobcats

If JJ Ryan and Turk bring this every single night, I think we have a chance to step on Boston and New York and claim that 3rd seed behind Miami and Chicago. The chemistry looks great tonight, everyone was attacking the basket and our role players are stepping up. Even during the SVG era, we've always been damn good against bad to decent playoff teams. It's just the western conference that we've struggled against in the past, but we're playing the other conference less in this condensed sked. I know Duhon was decent distributing tonight, but this guy is awful to watch on the defensive end. Hughes at least has the reputation of being able to play the passing lanes, as he was once an All-Defensive first team member. And he actually stays in front of his man. When I watch Duhon, I see a guy who is ALWAYS behind his man and is ridiculously slow on rotations. He left Maggette wide open for three a couple of times tonight. Nelson 32/Hughes 16 Richardson 24/Redick 24 Turkoglu 36/ Richardson 12 Ryan 28/Davis 20 Howard 40/Davis 8 this would be my ideal rotation, with QRich and Wafer entering the rotation when it's the 2nd night of a back to back. -

Hedo has played well so far this season. I have no problem with him bringing the ball up and making plays. Duhon? Not so much. -

Our schedule looks pretty easy actually, esp. compared to Western teams. -

Dallas is pretty much guaranteed to not even make it past the first round this year when they signing Vince Carter. -

DWill has looked terrible since arriving in NJ last season. It's clear he just doesn't care and doesn't want to play for the Nets. He looks nothing like his days in Utah when he was motivated, playing with an excellent supporting cast. -

Then may as well trade Howard for expirings and picks, Smith would be uninterested playing on this rebuilding team -

Jameer is still the only guy on our team that consistently gets to the rim. And that's what he needs to do more, no more jumpers off screens, attack the damn basket -

Yes, Anderson is definitely crap on defense, which doesn't speak alot for Bass' defensive game. I've never seen anyone jump at pump fakes at much as Brandon. When I say Bass defends worse than Anderson, there is a difference from Ryan Anderson is a great defender But there no longer needs to be a discussion over these two, because the truth is we've fixed the problem by trading for Glen Davis, a much, much better defender than both of those two. When we need defense at the four, we put in Glen. When we need scoring, we put in Anderson. Bass sucked just as much as Anderson on defense. They're essentially the exact same player, except Ryan has more range.
-
The difference is, Nash didn't have to play defense. His team never played any defense anyways. But that's part of the reason why the Suns were so great from 2004-10. Bass on the other hand, is definitely a chucker who rebounds and defends worse than Ryan Anderson. He's also playing in the SVG system, not the D'antoni 'play bad defense no worries' system. Davis is a guy that definitely helps out the defense more. And the only reason Bass looks good on Boston is because he has Rondo dishing great passes to him. Nelson isn't nearly capable of doing what Rondo does. And I don't mean that Glen Davis is good because he won a championship in Boston. He's good because he plays like a guy who adds wins for the team. He dives for loose balls, he plays defense and runs the floor every single night. They both are capable of shooting the mid-range jumper, but the biggest difference is Davis plays with 100% heart. Glen is a 6th man role player on a championship team. Bass is probably a 10th/11th man on a contending team (esp. on our 09/10 team)

Brandon Bass is a chucker that plays zero defense. Glen Davis might be slightly overpaid, but he's a championship player. You can't take that away from him.

And the NBA ain't going to veto any trades or signings. After the Chris Paul saga, they only had the excuse that the Hornets were owned by the NBA. Could you imagine them vetoing Howard and DWill to Dallas? -

While he himself is shooting 33 percent with 5 assists? I don't get how people could say Deron is better than CP3. -
