Magic vs Bulls - Official Game Thread - Friday 11/26 @ 7:00 PM

Yep, Suggs played fine last night, shot the ball well, defence was excellent as usual. Handles weren't great again which caused some turnovers and there was a couple of daft fouls but overall he showed plenty of flashes last night. Gary Harris actually played ok as well which was a bit of shock. Main issue was Bamba and the bench. Franz and WCJ were great, Harris and Suggs were fine, it was everyone else that was terrible. Also have to laugh at the terrible takes of rookies based off of 20 game samples. -

Yep just listened to it and Isaac isn't anywhere near ready. I'm doubting if he even plays at all this season now. Fultz training with Lakeland hopefully means he might be back at some point in Jan. -

Games like this are where I really hope we don't sink any money into Bamba. He's just not remotely engaged on far too many plays. His bbiq is so low. So frustating seeing it being wasted when he is so gifted physically. -

That starting 5 is not a team that would make the playoffs. It's questionable whether Fultz is even a starting quality guard before the injury let alone after adding an ACL tear. -

That should have been a flagrant. Great start for Suggs though. -

Cole's passing has been very very good today. Facilitating when he should and not forcing the shot. Hopefully he's 'getting it' finally. -

He's definitely had an additional injury to the ACL. ACL surgery and recovery is a standard 9 months in pro sports with the doctors they use. You could add in another 3 months of rehab if recovery is slow but anything after that leads to question marks on what's actually gone on. He's also about to lose 2.5 million due to the clause in his contract on the amount of games he needs to play per season so I doubt it's the FO being cautious as he would be forcing their hand to play if he was fine. He's clearly had some other injury on top imo. -

Returns say Dec but I highly doubt we'll see either this year. -

Suggs has been bad on the offensive end, those random 3 point shots at the top of the key he took 6 seconds into the clock last night were especially poor. However, he's a plus on defence - we are better when he is in the starting lineup and significantly worse when he is out of it. There are two players that have been shocking and they're Harris and Ross. Just pull up the teams raptor stats and you can see for yourself. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/ -

No, it's what happens when people do charts on ridiculously small sample sizes. -
Well this has been a fun game to watch whatever happens.
-
Near faultless 1st quarter from Mo. More of the same please!
-
Have to say. I've been really impressed with Carter hitting that trailing 3. It was not a shot he had in him last year.
-
You wait the season out with Bamba. Plenty of bigs in this years draft lottery means we can easily decide to not match if he gets an offer. Personally I would let him go. Doesn't bring what you need from a modern center for me, has no mobility or athleticism. I legit don't think he's capable of jumping most times I watch. His screens are shocking as well. Was a frustating game tonight though. We had numerous chances to close up and missed repeated good looks over and over again.

There is some justification to it. Don't get me wrong, a lot of posters on here just make hot takes immediately after one game while emotions are high from a win or loss. He's coming in with the second unit that due to injuries is terrible. Mo Wagner, Iggy and Lopez shouldn't really see any playing time other than trash time which has meant our second unit has been awful with those 3 seeing minutes. He's been fine over 8 games on the offensive end, 3P attempts and FG attempts are both down compared to the last 2 years with both %'s slightly up and from watching games his shot selection seems better (he's not chucking) and you can see he is actively talking to the young guys when on court but on defence he's definitely had a significant drop off. Rebounding and steals have dropped and the effort on that end when watching games doesn't seem great. But yeah, he's nowhere as bad as what people have made him to be. -
Fell asleep in the 2nd quarter after working a back to back shift. Disappointed to miss watching a win, seeing a clip of that dunk almost made up for it though! Need to see Cole after 20+ games rather than a handful but it is definitely pleasing to see the assists he's racking up. He's been reading plays much better so picking when to pass and taking good shooting options rather than chucking is the biggest positive so far in these early games for me. Suggs doesn't worry me at all. Defence is great, shot looks good it's just not dropping. Handles need a lot of work but thats par for the course as a rookie PG. Franz is looking great, I was a bit meh with the pick, knew he would be solid on the defensive end but on offense he's been great too which is surprising. Helps having a coach that plays a modern style and emphasises the corner 3 compared to Cliffords old school playstyle that I hated to watch. Means I actually enjoy the games even when we lose. I just hope the shouts at the tv yelling box out become fewer and fewer as the season goes on (it's maddening for me, especially Bamba!) Obviously super small sample sizes and very early days but hopefully the young uns keep it up.

I doubt you would get a first for Ross even with protections. I think the FO would have already taken that. Probably get a couple of 2nds at best. -
The lack of boxing out is just really frustrating, We're young, we'll make mistakes and we'll be up and down which is fine as long as there's effort. Not boxing out is straight up lack of effort, it's lazy.
-
Every game I've watched there is no boxing out at all. It's disgusting. Bamba didn't even jump for the last one which resulted in a second chance 3. it's pathetic.
-
Starting 5 again with great +/- numbers. Bench were very poor again, Just getting a couple of players back into the rotation should mean a lot of games will remain close, competitive and fun to watch. As usual, no info on when any of them are likely to return. Sure can be annoying with how tight lipped this organisation is on everything.
-
Good win. Will do the youngsters the world of good to go through a close game and get a win.
-
Coles reaction to that Mo Wagner dunk was hilarious.
-
Good to see them keep their heads up and bring it back close again
